@moorlock2003 I gotta tell ya Moorlock...I'd take the Hollies over the Stones version...which for R&B covers is rare...but they better the Stones on this one. The Stones version is a muudy mess!
It is very telling that, unlike The Hollies' version, The Rolling Stones' version of "She Said Yeah" was released on record, and was the leadoff track to their US album "December's Children". It got radio play here in Los Angeles. The band did a fantastic live vocal version on the US TV show "Hullaballoo". This, along with two others recorded by both bands, was clearly better than The Hollies' version. The Hollies, however, bettered Simon & Garfunkel with their "I Am A Rock".
The earliest version i have found of this song is Larry Williams from 1959. I have heard Hollies, Animals and Stones versions of this song. I also have a great cover on cd by the Swedish 60's garage band The Shakers. My favorite versions of this song is Stones and The Shakers.
@vaxjoleksing There might be an earlier version, it was written by Sonny Bono and (rockabilly artiste) Roddy Jackson. There's a clip on You Tube of Roddy Perfoming it in the last fews years, but I can't say for sure wether he cut it on a disc early on.
Just listened to the Animals version, did every British invasion band cover this tune, lol? Anyway, while Eric's version is not without merit, I prefer the Hollies and Stones versions.
The Hollies are great, but I doubt they would've changed music. The Beatles were the leaders and everybody, including the Stones, followed the fab four's lead.
It is of course a matter of opinion and taste, but my personal opinion is ... the Stones own this song with their high-energy version.

I also like Paul McCartney's version in his Run devil run :-)

Macca's version is better :))

You said it. The Hollies are far superior musicians than the Stones. Anyone with ears can tell what sounds better.

@philhh65 Maybe the Hollies were "far superior musicians", but they make "les good music". What a paradox, ha?

Not bad, but The Stones' version is better.

"She Said Yeah", "That's How Strong My Love Is", and "Fortune Teller" were Soul/R & B songs, better suited to The Rolling Stones' style.

much better.

Check out the photos at :33, 1:10 and 1:21 and see if Graham Nash doesn't look like a young George Harrison.

Did not know the Stones did this as well. Just listened, it's definitely rougher, which I like, but both versions are good.

Interesting, but it is clear why it was not released at the time; it's rather disjointed. The Stones' version is far superior.
