France had a battle plan that would permitted them to win. in 1954, France didn't got the A-Bomb. It was just a proposal from Dulles to "lend" a tiny A-bomb in order to stop Giap. In fact, nobody wanted use the A-Bomb (risk of extension of war with chineeses)

To say that the vietnamese did not have medics, is like saying the americans had no food, its absurd, on the other hand we can thank for the vietnamese to have detected the obstinated french colonials, and to have kept them from being more disastrous in their behaviour later in history. Look how savage the french were in Algeria a couple years later and imagine the harm they would have done before loosing the war; thank god the worst of the kind was not there anymore.

Francophobe, it was 11,000 they captured. And in captivety 8000 were killed, starved and beaten to death. Only 3000 were alive to be freed later on.

At the end the legionaries fought in the bayonet, in the shovel and in the pickaxe. Diên biên phu fell but has never capitulated. In diên biên phu, there were 10863 prisoners among which 3290 were freed(released), 7573 will be missing it. Tribute to all these heroes who fought for France.
