  • traditional bow hunting HA

  • Can you use this for bow fishing?

  • Is the arrow rest it comes with bad that i'll have to replace it right away or is it ok?

  • ive read reviews of people who bought that bow only to have it break in a couple dozen shots

  • I agree with all the trigger comments. The only reason I sacrifice speed to shoot trad is so I can use fingers. Striving to make "archery" as close as possible to shooting a rifle should be called something other than archery so that a distinction can be more easily made between the toys and the millennia-old tradition.

  • Consistent shots, its mechanical meaning no human error. Thats why the trigger.

I agree though, learn to do it without first. Hunting would be a good use for one though, you really don't wanna miss your shots.

Nice bow btw, plan on one for my hunting bow since my target bow is already acquired.

  • @SocialNetworkWhore Trigger is only good if you plan on aiming! You don't aim a rucurve. You look closely at the target. Pull back and release!

  • Oh look I'm a traditional archer!I use a release on a recurve bow!

  • are those blackhawk 2315 shafts he's shooting?

  • This or the pse kingfisher

  • how much it cost it's cool!!

  • can this takedown a fullsize deer down

  • To komotoko

There were issues with limb separation, but Martin fixed that problem. Actually was a bad glue, and people leaving them in hot vehicles year round. Its a pretty solid bow..well worth the price. Eders.com is running em at $114.

  • Animals have rights....the right to be served with a slice of warm bread, and the vegetable of the day.

People who get on here complaining about hunting need to get a grip,or get some gone. Try bitchin about your computer manufacturer, who works 8yr old kids 60-80hrs a week making these things you use to post your pablum puke.

  • @theindianahoosier Yea man I really agree with you,,,just not the rights part. It's not a RIGHT to be killed, its just part of the food chain.

  • How the hell are you going to kill zombies using a release? I mean.. cmon man...

  • I've seen ALOT of bad reviews on other sights from sportsmansguide but not sure about this anyone else had any issues? Cause I want this bow but afraid to order it from them.

  • Is it me or is this bow loud?

  • Look up the definition of sport and u will se hunting falls into the category u fucking retards

  • Does this release aid even suitable for recurve bow?

  • All you little fuckers that think bow hunting is not a sport then you are wrong. Bow hunting is the most difficult sport there is and I don't give a rats ass what you think. You don't like killing animals then go join PETA and leave hunters like me the hell alone.

  • Pisses me off that this isnt lefty too.

  • why would someone shoot a recurve bow with a trigger .. that makes no sense.

  • I agree it's not fun hunting animals for the thrill, If you shoot them in the stomach it will be a slow agonising death unless you slit it's throat.

If you like hunting so much just do what me and my mates do.

Make animals we make a wooden model of them, cover them in fur or fluff and whola.

Plus are you using carbon fiber arrows?

  • @TheHaydz242 so? its an animal, animals you eat from store have WAY worse lives than wild animals that are killed and eaten at east they can roam free and live as they please oh and hunting is useful for conseration as good hunters firstly eat he animals instead of wasting them but protect the population never letting it drop too low and keeping forest that may otherwise be destroyed and shooting a wooden dear is not hunting

  • what an awsome bow

  • Its not much of a sport when the animal doesn't have a weapon to defend itself and you got a lowlife BOW HUNTER sitting in a tree like Troy Gentry eating a Hamburger. Typical of "HUNTERS" to think this is a sport. But they are no different from Pigeon Shooters.

  • @sohcsarewicked I sort of agree with you; hunting shouldn't be considered a sport, killing for fun is just plain murderous. However, hunting for food is a whole other story, and bow hunting actually does require some skill. Animals aren't defenseless; they've adapted for millions of years to hundreds of different types of hunters, and what they lack in intelligence, tools, or weapons, they make up for with superior hearing and senses.

  • @sohcsarewicked if you dont like hunting dont hunt but dont bitch on those go back to your shitty PETA i'll stick with my peta people eating tasty animals that is, it is a sport more so than other things considered sports like snooker or darts

  • @TheAlexagius raping nature is not really a sport

  • @sohcsarewicked is hunting not bestiality

  • @sohcsarewicked actually raping nature is almost entirely in the providence of the opposite of hunting: industrialize agriculture, modern times, and the exploding growth of the human population.

  • @sohcsarewicked Let's look at this from another perspective. The cow or chicken that feeds you suffer a whole life in captivity before getting a round in the head. . . The deer live a free life and would have been torn apart by a pack of wild dogs in due time. And if your about to tell me that meet is NOT on your menu well let me that when it comes to pollution, soil depletion and water wasted nothing holds a candle to agriculture.

  • @iagorincon ... And yes i just read what wrote and my spelling and grammar sucked.

  • Does anyone know if this bow is good for traditional, barebow instinctive archery?

  • or you can just get a real bow?... no sights, no mechanics... no artificial materials.... just wood and leather...

  • @494industries you can but most of them will be custom made and very expensive in my neck of the woods around $1200

  • @Joker5133 you could have a go at making one yourself?? takes time and effort but its worth it

  • When i got my jaguar takedown it didnt look the jaguar that is on this riser.

My riser got a picture of a tiger.

  • is this bow good for beginners hunting boars in the NT i am looking at getting one? im 6ft 2inc ? i prefer a recurve rather than compound

  • thats not ''basics'' a real bow is just one stick and one string, not a bunch of fibreglass/etc

  • *shocked expression*

    A trigger? on a re/de bow?

All I can see is a "re/re" archer.. triggers cause gaps in archery knowledge and cause you to suck compared to someone using a glove. imagine: you just shot a wild pig or boar, but you fucking missed... now, nock an arrow or 2 before that pig gets to you and gores you to death.

Of course if you're a hobbyist or a woman with fingernails that you don't want to break then who the fuck cares... just don't go hunting wild pigs let alone killer rabbits.

  • can i use it with right hand ?

  • i got my first martin jaguar take-down recurve bow yesterday i got 6 shots out of it and the limbs broke they suck

  • i got this for my birth day and its freakin amazing

  • triggers are for bitches. learn how to really use the bow you bastards.

  • @pfer456 Fuck yeah

  • @pfer456 triggers are not for recurves i use a trigger on my compound but not my recurve

  • @pfer456 why would you want to make it harder to shoot? thats like syaing cars are for pussies run everywhere bitches

  • @JCrain03 Cars are for bitches.

  • @pfer456 couldnt say it better myself.. whats next the D-loop sights and rests..

  • @pfer456 nah, trigger is easier and more accurate

  • this looks like a nice bow

im getting a martin triple recurve target bow

  • just bought this recurve actually. I really like it so far.

  • have to look at this as an commercial the guys an actor not a bowman. his draw lenth is too long for a release and his bowhand isnt relaxed like it suppose to be. but a good commercial anyway. just wanted to let people who c this know.

  • @bigmusic39 Actually, If you look at his Bowhand, He is not gripping it fiercly. He just has his fingers wrapped around the grip, gripping it loosely. He also appears to be drawing consistantly to a point on his jaw. While he is using a release, instead of a glove, His form and draw have one important thing that makes what he is doing correct. Consistancy. He is Drawing the same way each time, and that is more important than where you draw to.

  • Do you think there's any difference in performance between the jaguar take down and the X-150?

  • @k00lkane well both bows shoot exceptionally well, i've shot both and own both bows, but personally i'd rather stick with the jaguar, than to have a huge toothpick snap over time aka x-150, add the cost to refinish it when the all wood x-150 dries out over an extended period of time....i'd say shoot the jaguar and have some fun both in the range and in the field!.

  • this video is soooooo sexy!

  • how much are they and could this take down a deer?

  • Comment removed

  • @IIJasonSII price varies by area, but suggested retail price is $150 your local archery store might have it at that price or a little lower. for deer hunting i personally recommend you try a 45lb first, if you can pull it without straining or shaking then thats all you would need, the right arrow and broadhead combo usually does the trick, 45,50,55 will do alot for big game hunting but like i said its just the right arrow and broadhead combo

  • i`m beginning at archery and just get this bow (50 lbs), what arrows do you recomend me? I have some 400 spine carbon arrows, can i use thesel? thanks

  • @miksan6 the 400 spine arrows work well with recurve bows, if you used 350s they'd be too stiff to fly properly if your using a lower draw weight like your 50lbs, 350 spines are designed for 60=70lb compound bows, 400 spine arrows will work well with a recurve being theyre a little more flexible and are used for lighter poundage bows like a recurve cause most recurves do not make it to 70lbs. but thats my answer for you

  • @gren204306 thank you very much for your answer, it helps me a lot.

  • no sights?

  • @NaxTactical with any recurve bows sights are not used because its a traditional style bow meaning you have to use it like they did in the past, but with the martin jaguar take down you have the option of adding on fibre optic sights or other accessories like a quiver in the mounting holes on the riser. thats my answer for you

  • @gren204306 Ok, cool... I am a competition archer, with a recurve bow, and we use all that fance stuff that is actually not super essential like sights, stabilizers and and all trat stuff. So yeah, i am sure you could hunt without any, but i am sure it would come in handy! Thanks for replying, Nax

  • @NaxTactical its all good man, nothing beats the feel of shooting traditional styled bows, it takes alot of practice to take down ground or aerial game but in the end knowing your practice paid off feels good when u got some game to bring to the table lol if u got any more Q's let me know ill answer to the best of my knowledge brother

  • @gren204306 Cool, thanks man... Take care! Nax

  • i am 13 and was wanting to know if the 40lb version of the martin jag would be a good bow for me? i can shoot a 40lb compound bow ,it is not hard to pull back. :)

  • @mr1993bowman well why a 40lb compound is easy to pull back is because of a feature called let off where the limbs and cable system of a compound help reduce then fatigue of holding it back, thus giving the illusion it is easy to pull back but with a traditional styled bow like a longbow or recurve it requires the full strength of the archer, go to your local bowshop and try one out if its easy for you. cause no point ordering one if u cant pull it back but thats my asnwer for ya

  • @gren204306 thanks

  • why does that guy use a release

  • @tenneseesportsman he uses a release because theres less interference with using a release compared to if he was finger shooting, it just depends based on preference if the shooter wants to use the release or likes finger shooting. thats my answer for you

  • @gren204306 that actually makes alot of sence i had trouble getting used to using fingers coming from a coumpound to a recurve

  • @tenneseesportsman yeah i know what you mean i started off using finger shooting with some earlier made compound bows, then had to use a release so using the martin jaguar i have finger shooting with it came easy with prior experience finger shooting, if u got anymore Q's let me know and ill use the best of my knowledge

  • @gren204306 i reckon i just thought u couldnt do that...guess i was wrong huh

  • @tenneseesportsman well i wouldnt say wrong more like unfamiliar, with the jaguar if you have one you can shoot it based on your preference, either with fingers or with a release, just a matter of consistency on the shots, practice with fingers or a release and find out which is more suitable for you.

  • @tenneseesportsman less fingerpinch, I guess

  • 40 & 50 refers to the draw weight of the bow at 28" of draw. With traditional equipment there're no set draw lengths so this is how mfgs rate the draw wt. of traditional bows. If your draw is shorter, the draw wt. will be slightly less. If it is longer the draw wt. will be slightly higher. There's no let off with traditional equipment, so the wt. you are pulling is the wt. you'll be holding at full draw. A smaller framed shooter may be more comfortable with 40lb, larger framed with 50. Good luck

  • ive been compound bow hunting for a few years and im starting to get more into recurve hunting... and im looking into buying this bow from your website, but im having problems understanding the size between 40 and 50, can someone explain what the difference is between these two? thanks.

  • does anybody know how fast a 55lb one of these shoots?

  • Hi im 14 can anybody recommend a draw weight for me im not a small dude but not very big either lol .

  • @k00lkane You can take 40 or 45#

  • I want to get this bow as my first but, I heard the limbs dosn't fit riser. People had to sand down the limb or something like that. Should I get the pse coyote instead?

  • Comment removed

  • not going to happen. i shoot a 28 .5 inch draw and 50 lbs on one of these martins with a 500 grain arrow. but with that bow, easton axis 400s, and muzzy 4 blades i can promise that you will get a pass through on whitetails

  • I shoot a lot of guns but I've never done any archery. I would like to get into target shooting and try deer or boar hunting with a bow this fall.

Would anyone recommend this as a good multipurpose bow for a beginner?

  • does any one know if the upper limb is suposed to be loose???

  • @zuela1 im pretty sure all limbs are supose to be tight. but im not sure 100% im just going with what i know about other bows.

  • 5/5 *****

  • wtf.!?!? you dont shoot a mechanical broadhead from a recurve bow!!!

  • I shoot mechanical broadheads from my recurve. I use the 2 bladed Rage broadheads. They fly great and have excellent penetration.

  • @RealtimeBoyz pentration against what? sorry if I'm skeptical man but i got terrible penetration with mechanicals compares to fixed blade, do you have pics of your kills?

  • Yes i do have pictures, and i understand where your coming from being skeptical, Rage is the only mechanical i will shoot with my recurve. If i dont use Rage then i use a fixed blade.

  • wth..... he's using a release :S

  • Does anyone know if they make take down arrows that are maybe in 2 pieces for storage.

  • i dont think so ive never seen any lol

  • Yeah, I remember they were used in Rambo III. Wondering if it was a prop or if they really existed. Got my Jaguar coming today, man I can't wait to try this out.

  • @JRNY1605

did you get it? and is it chill or what...I have an ole recurve (55 lbs.)

I've never taken anything with my recurve.

I'd be interested in gettin a new recurve if it looked worthy...

Let me know if you will how you made out and if you like it and all please and thanx

  • i dont think that would be very practical.

  • Would be practical if you wanted to conceal in a backpack

  • yeah but, with all the punishment and force that an arrow has to go through leaving the bow, i don't see how a breakdown arrow would be possible.

  • Its have any sight?

  • can you use this bow hunting and what is the effective kill range?

  • btween 3-50 yards. hitting somthing in the ehart from that range is a little tougher

  • it looks like a combination of a traditinal and compound bow

  • I am glad I got this. It is fun to shoot. It also seems just, powerful. I'm not used to these powerful bows on account of my first bow being a little youth recurve.

  • what is that thing on the arrow rest thats sticking out?

  • arrow rest. ??? Well its a part of a arrow rest, I front \_/ smth like this. It Keeps arrow in the middle.

  • it is a great bow to have it is very fun to shoot with no sights or release

    Bare Bow! Forever!

  • there is something about this particular bow i dont like ... idk wht ... myb the fact that the guy is shooting string release.... i dont knw ... i would use 3 fingers....i would love to try it to shut up.

  • dude i have this bow and it shoots awesome i love it

  • im left handed, is there a left handed model?

  • where can you buy replacment limbs for this bow?

  • Comment removed

  • you can get other limbs, so basicly you can change draw weight...I am buying one and fully equipping (and shooting) like a compound...with peep, pins, bow quiver, sling, stabilizer, and limbsavers...I met a guy that did that and his performance from this bow was truly amazing...

  • dude i do that with this bow... it works great... i have 2 deer to show for it

  • can you adjust the draw weight?

  • You have to buy diff, size limbs to change the pull weight.

  • nice im going to get one

  • who shoots a recurve bow with a release this video was very poorly put together ! lol but the bow looks sweet b good for fishin

  • a release and mechs? hmmm not for me but what ever more power to him. i personally like using fingers for recurves and a coc head and a release for compound.

  • You all are idiots...The Jaguar is a fine bow. He is using a release because if you noticed, he is also shooting vanes and expandable broadheads...The elevated rest accomodates the vanes, so why not use a release, and have a more consistent shot?

  • 1 day im going to buy a recurve bow, a knife and im going to just walk into the wild and live there for a week or so,lol. its going to be awesome!!

  • love it but hate it, absolutely hate that the guy in the vid is using modern release. and hate that the rest is a modern one instead of hair. other than that it looks awesome

  • i just did like 30 mins ago!

  • its only 139 bucks! holy crap im going to buy one!

  • The Martin Jaguar's weight is NOT adjustable. I have two, and they are nice bows for the money. The limbs ARE interchangeable. I have 40# for bowfishing, and 55# for hunting. I've had several longbows, recurves and compounds, and the Jaguar is a good bow.

  • can a 55 take down a boar i heard not?

  • easy. if u kno where to hit it, and if ur broadhead is a razor

  • @sn66sean 55 is more than enough i know guys that took boar down with 40lb recurves...its all about sharp arrow head and shot placement

  • I want to buy a recurve bow and I like Martin archery. I want to know if it have hole to put a sight on it?

  • learn to do it without a sight. thats what makes recurves fun and different. it takes a little longer to get use to it but its worth it.

  • dude i have this bow and it shoots great

  • why is he using a release, blazer vanes? I might buy one just to smash it to bits on video. One ugly ass recurve. PSE makes some pretty good looking entry recurves but this thing is a step in the WRONG direction

  • So tell me, oh high and mighty sportsmanguide, how would you adjust the draw weight ON A F**CKING TRADITIONAL BOW????? Even if some idiot believed this at first, at 0:29 you can clearly see a limb with NO ADJUSTABILITY OPTIONS...god...

  • Probably talking about different limb weights that you can get the bow in.

  • It's a "takedown" model, meaning that the limbs come off for travel or storage. Which means you can also replace the limbs and get different limbs for different draw weights.

  • lol, adjustable weight. that's just plain stupid. I wonder why so many commercials are so damn stupid.

  • haha nice release... noobs

  • hay unlike a compound it is harder to draw so im going to get a release for mine

  • They couldn't find anyone in their state that shoots a recurve with fingers???????????

    losers.

  • i know this is a stupid question, but can i order the limbs and maybe setting screws only and switch my compound to this recurve?

  • If you have a Jaguar compound bow you can.
