The kid could have killed both Mana and Yuta when they were on the ground but he didn't. Maybe Mana got through to him with her words and actions. Mana finally came to Yuta's rescue! About time.

If I remember correctly, either in the ova ver of Mermaid Scar or Mermaid Forrest, it stated that not everyone becomes immortal as some would live a longer life, but would eventually expire.

this reminds me of a film with a boy who's cat died, so his dad buries it in the Indian burial ground to revive it, then the cat turned evil and killed the boy so the dad buries him in the Indian burial ground to bring him back to life, but then he killed his mum, so the hubbie buried his wife in the burial ground, then she came back to life. I'm really jst tryin 2 point out the resemblance between the evil son and the boy in this episode, but I guess I went a bit too far :P

You are referring to Stephen King's "Pet Cemetary" here. I'm honestly not sure which story came first, but I would think that Rumiko's original managa telling of this story came first. I can see how you are finding similarities between the two stories, but in all honesty, "Pet Cemetary" is highly different from this series. If you buried someone in the cemetary, no matter what - they would come back evil. In this story, that's not the case at all. It's a personal choice thing.
