Hello I have a problem with the Firmware file. I download the 5.0.1 firmware file. But when it is finished it is not compided to an .ipsw file. only an "firmware" .zip file with all the .DMG files and everything so Redsnow can't find the firmware file.

Hey there, please help..I have a US phone, which was jailbroken and had the OS 4.1 and pretty much was working fine unless I went ahead and upgraded. - Jailbrk n install Cydia

NEXT, as soon as ph turns back on go right back into Redsn0w

- then Extras, Select IPSW- look for the firmware, select bootrom for your ph (new-yes, old-no) then back - Jailbrk again,uncheck Cydia n check both iPad database n Deactivate, click Next - Remember to Turn the ph OFF before entering DFU mode - follows the same process as the jailbreak

Any thoughts on why after doing all these steps it says Searching.. then it connects to T-mobile with one bar I'm able to make calls but after a minute or so it says No Service and then a minute later it says Searching... again and the cycle repeats

RESOLVED! If Redsn0w falls, you must first install the iPhone baseband and deactivate. And then do another jailbreak with the option to install Cydia!

thanks!! after 5 days w/o my phone, i've finally been able to get it back up. i'm having minor issues with network dropouts on safari but at least my phone is not a brick! just a few tips:

- the phone serial # is on the original box. i selected the wrong phone version at first bc i didn't know my serial #

- i was stuck in restore mode and had iOS5 re-installed at the apple store. the battery had drained entirely before i took it in. the battery drain may have helped get it out of restore loop.

Everythings works fine but When the phone uses the location services, the signal seems to go down until it says "Searching..." then the signal dies for a moment and then it comes back to normal. it's weird because this only happenens when location services are used.
