The reason, well one of the reasons, why HIV is harder than previous known pathogens, is because it binds sugars on it, making it hard for the immune system to "see". the virus mutates like any other, and if you look at the distribution of the different strains, you see that north america primarily has one type, while africa has a wider variety of strains in hosts because its closer to the source of origin, and has had more time to evolve

Even if the abzyme in this video were to work, it would only repress the extent of host cell attack of HIV, that is, gp120 and host CD4 receptor binding, unless taken on an extended long term basis, to eliminate all dormant HIV proviruses yet to undergo lytic cycles in the body. Also, given the rapid rate of viral RNA and receptor HIV mutations, this might not work in the long run. Oxygen therapy? LOL that is treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning.

@arjayhoo you can't get HIV type 1 or 2 from kissing. You have, somehow, been exposed to infected blood or bodily fluids. The virus does not persist in saliva.
This treatment, if it works, will be able to cure HIV 1 and 2. Expect one within the next decade (again, if it works), and look for clinical trials you could be a part of (you could get a jumpstart on treating)
And if there is a god, wouldn't mind if he gave us this idea for the cure a few decades ago....

I just wonder how in the hell "MONEY" could stand in the way of this research? We need to take all the money for PORK programs and flood it into this research. The reason, well one of the reasons, why HIV is harder than previous known pathogens, is because it binds sugars on it, making it hard for the immune system to "see". the virus mutates like any other, and if you look at the distribution of the different strains, you see that north america primarily has one type, while africa has a wider variety of strains in hosts because its closer to the source of origin, and has had more time to evolve

There is immense money in a cure since more than one company makes drugs for treating HIV/AIDS, if one of them came out with a cure, they would take in much more revenue. Conspiracy theories are almost always. Furthermore, why should we trust someone who can't spell "killing", puts in random "y"s and types in all caps?

Even if the abzyme in this video were to work, it would only repress the extent of host cell attack of HIV, that is, gp120 and host CD4 receptor binding, unless taken on an extended long term basis, to eliminate all dormant HIV proviruses yet to undergo lytic cycles in the body. Also, given the rapid rate of viral RNA and receptor HIV mutations, this might not work in the long run. Oxygen therapy? LOL that is treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning.

@arjayhoo you can't get HIV type 1 or 2 from kissing. You have, somehow, been exposed to infected blood or bodily fluids. The virus does not persist in saliva.
This treatment, if it works, will be able to cure HIV 1 and 2. Expect one within the next decade (again, if it works), and look for clinical trials you could be a part of (you could get a jumpstart on treating)
And if there is a god, wouldn't mind if he gave us this idea for the cure a few decades ago....

@arjayhoo unfortunately its because most stds can live in us without us knowing its there. Without proper education on the matter, no one will know where the risks are, how often they should test themselves, what to avoid.
Why are we not so worried? Because nothing is happening to us. We only get scared when we get sick, possibly years later. It's not so much our fault, these infections are just very very very clever.
Better to get the disease now than 10 years ago. Its treatable now, at least
