@obieoneknobe Being Irish does not make you support the IRA, of did you not know that teh IRA is considered a terrorist orginization in Ireland? The idea of uniting Ireland may be noble (exept for the part about kicking people out of their homes) but the means they use to achive that goal are ones that are that of terrorists. Fuck the IRA, lest we forget the civilians (many of them children) that they have killed.

really not sure how people can compare the troubles in northern ireland, which is what this song is about, with hitler and the American bombing of Baghdad. In my opinion these are very very different issues and almost polar opposite to the northern ireland issue. I.E. an occupying force ruling a country.

If you've read my other comments, I'm very familiar with the violence in Northern Ireland. It runs deep in the family. I know very well what the song is about. However, as a filmmaker (and I made this a long long long time ago) I am not opposed to taking a meaning that I get from a song and creating a video depicting my own version of that meaning.

Therefore, to me this song represents violence forced upon people of any race, creed, gender, sexuality, etc.

@sean123chc I'm not so unfamiliar with what the song is about. In fact, the terror in Northern Ireland is a huge part of what has influenced my family history. I am quite aware.

However, artistically speaking, this song can symbolize quite a bit more than just that violence - in fact, it can symbolize all terrorism, violence, bigotry, hatred.

What does "hitler and shit" have to do with it? Well, it's simple: History finds a way to repeat itself.

The pain and fear many people in Northern Ireland may feel is the same pain someone else in Iran may feel. We are all the same people.

I guess in order to understand something as complex as that, one must have an open mind - something that you obviously do not possess.

Well, if it is "necessary", I can somewhat understand your standpoint. However, think about the civilians effected...the normal every day people whose homes and cities are destroyed.

And be aware, that in war, there are two sides. One mother's tears are no different than the other's.

Your feelings are understandable, though. It's just there are so many alternatives than murder and violence.

Thanks so much! The Cranberries are a group from the part of Ireland where my mom actually grew up. Her entire family was forced to leave by the IRA in the early 60s. They had been "major" targets until the 70s, as my grandma says.

Before they left, actually, a bomb was placed underneath her window. Luckily, the fuse burned out before anything happened.

So, when my mom watched this, I think a few of the images...like the Belfast rioting, brought back a few memories.
