Nancy my grandaughter is 15 now and I can close my eyes and it was only yesterday she was little and we were at the lake. Now she thinks she is too grown up for such things. Would rather be with her friends.. Wonderful memories for sure..

Oh I know what you mean Dolores. Although my 20 and 17 year old granddaughters spent time on this same beach earlier in the summer and they made their own sand castles.....I hope no matter how old they get they never lose that inner child.

I have done that. One of the beaches not far from where I live has a winter festival. They have this long pier going out into the lake and it's cool to see it all covered in ice. The storms do some interesting things with the ice.

Hi Nancy, whilst I was watching little Jessica, walking down to confront that huge sea, I had a flashback to my terror and wonderment at seeing so much water, the first time I saw the sea, my mouth dropped down and I went to hide behind my father, I did not like the sound of the waves at all, as I had lived in a very quiet country setting.And now as I approach the silver years here I am living on the mediteraneans beachfront, strange isn't it , I now love the sound it sends me to sleep. 55555

You are so fortunate....I recall as a child being afraid as my parents would each take one of my hands and take me out and play jump the waves and sometimes those waves were pretty big...at least to me..mind you my parents would never have let go of me or let anything happen....so I never have taken my children or grandchildren out when it is even a little rough unless they wanted to go.

That part of Lake Erie's shore is pretty but I think Lake Huron's beaches are cleaner and have whiter sand. Of course when it comes to little kids wanting to play in the sand and water...lol..any beach will do! :-)

Unlike a lot of kids, in Bermuda schools we learned Canadian and US geography! I've just never really seen a large lake's beach.

One of the trips we want to make in our lifetime is to drive all the way around the Great Lakes. Gayle (giaco44094) lives around Cleveland and says it's a wonderful trip! I've been mostly in western Canada.
