  • I really like your approach to this video! I love the imagery of the narrow straw going all the way to your knees and taking low breaths in the diaphragm area. The part that helped me the most is the hissing exercise in controlling/ regulating my air supply. For anyone that comes upon this video, no matter what the reviews say, or how the rating is rated, please decide for yourself if this video is right for you. It really helped despite the fact that some people didn't like his approach.

  • Brilliant video! Is this called midsection breathing control?

  • I like this vid. It is really really good if you feel like not having enough air when speaking to ppl as well I believe.

  • I'm always seem to be out of breath when I'm running for 20 seconds.I have medical problems so I can't take P.E. ever since.Whenever I'm singing, sometimes I need to catch my breath after singing almost without breathing. When I saw this video,at first I kind of don't understand, but if I watch it a few more times,I'll eventually understand it.I could use some breathing techniques,I'm probably going to need it someday!

  • he's cute.

  • dude, no offense, but you suck

  • @breezybro192009, It's too bad his approach didn't work for you, but it work wonders for me.(sorry if it sound likes I am bragging or something) I hope that you found something that worked for you. Some approaches work for people, while others don't work for them. Hopefully there is something out there for everyone.

  • this is bullshyt. bad posture. you should feel your lungs expanding out(horizontally) instead of "vertically". breathing is easy, dont complicate things.

  • very nice,,,,,,,,, thanks .....

  • A word of advice to aspiring singers watching this video: Don't hunch your shoulders over like this guy is doing. That's bad posture for singing. It also will further limit the amount of air intake.

Sit straight, relax your shoulders, and DON'T push your neck inwards towards your body(like he is doing..). That will cause tension in your throat. When you breathe correctly, your shoulders should NOT be rising. Otherwise you're doing it WRONG.Careful everyone, this vid is misleading.

  • Yes, u r absolutely rite!!!!

  • I've been short of breath a lot the lasst 2 years and this seems to help A LOT!! So thankyou very much for giving me this superb exercise!

  • it took my cousin about a week to teach this to me and i didnt get it....thanx for the video, now i can control my breath, my voice's main problem. now i just have to work on everything else.....

  • You really have a great way of making the complication of breathing control easy to understand. This was the hardest thing for my Vocal Coach to teach me! Breathing IS EVERTHING! I posted a video response for you.

    God Bless,

    Lil' Robert

  • Thank you teacher!!

  • THANK YOU!

  • A tiny straw in us? ok........

  • Good breathing is breathing you don't hear.

  • I am getting lite headed and I am not having control.

  • roflmao

  • I love this guy's speaking voice. totally cool. Helpful exercise too. Thanks!

  • It looked to me as if he was holding his breath.... it actually looked to me like if he was holding his breath with a fair amount of air out of his lungs (after exhaling)... but then again, like my gfriend says: i tend to be wrong with a lot of things.. :)

  • I meant, is he still breathing in during the 16 counts :P, or holding his lungs expanded (holding your breath)?

  • He's breathing out in a slow, controlled manner.

  • ok I am thoroughly confused on something :P When he says, "Control the breath, last for a number of counts, lets try 16 counts" (roughly what he says)...

Is he holding his breath for those counts or still trying to expand his lungs??? I can do either but was wondering :P

  • you are absolutely wonderful - thanks!

  • Thanks

  • Thanks, liauce! 5/5 stars.

  • NO! smoking is a BIG-NO-NO! to singing! Smoking makes your lungs weak.

  • thanks for the info. I enjoyed viewing this

  • the lungs expand vertically!!?? what the hell are you talking about??

  • he's actually referring to the diaphragm

  • I got 35 counts of hissing..

    Is that good?

  • mm thats right, just like iced coffee. THANX i understand now

  • yes, thank you!!!!

  • THANKS MAN!

  • Thanks thanks more pls!

  • When I try to breath deeply I get a head ache. I'm pretty sure thats not supposed to happen. lol Can you think of anything I might be doing wrong?

  • Depends on what kinda head ache you refering to. If its the kind you get when you are ill, then, that's not supposed to happen. If it's just a sensation, you are doing the right thing; what happened is you are using lots of head resonance and sending the sound up when you support your sound with your diaphragm strongly - its a good thing then. :)

  • yeah its more of a sensation, I guess I'm just not used to it yet. Thanx so much for you help!!

  • Hi man... how many times can i do this exercise??? will it help me to get high notes?... i can make whistle notes from G3 to C6 but the higher notes i can't control it cos of my breathing...

  • hey! thanks for giving a training for the voice. I would really appreciate if you kept on your work ^__^ . Sure I'll come back around! xie xie ni

  • This is very useful information. I appreciate you work and the time that you have put into make this available. I hope there are more youtube lessons from you. A big time THANKS, MAN!
