im a teen im so glad that ppl like you, thearchfiend, mues, undertakerfreak1127 and CammehYaBams exist...becouse without u guys i would just be another mindless brainwashed teenager thats contolled by the fucking media
I completely agree! One of my friends was saying that she needed a new phone, and I'm like "why?" and she was like "Because my phone right now doesn't have games on it," and I'm like "Does it make calls and text messages?" and she's like "Yes," and so I'm like "That's all you should need in a phone," and she's like "But I want games," and I died a little inside. This Is what we have come to, folks. It's so sad.
I'm a teenager and I have to say that I agree. I'm a computer enthusiast, but I still do other things, which the same can't be said about some people in my generation, unfortunately. I still read books and exercise. I couldn't care less about celebrities and their personal life and I don't sit and text my friends all the time.
Although I love technology and embrace it, there has to be a limit somewhere. Life doesn't revolve around Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
My friend made an interesting point a few months ago. He was talking about history textbooks and every section that has an excerpt from a letter between soldiers or a telegram sent to the president. But he was thinking about the future, and in 100 years or something, when new history textbooks are made, are there going to be 'excerpts' from text messages sent between soldiers or from facebook messages sent to government officials? It was weird to think about, but it made sense in a way.
(sorry i keep commenting) but anyways i agree with you 100% people all they care about now is technology and how they can entertain themselves everyone gets so bored nowadays even though there is so many things they can do and they waste their time stalking famous people who aren't even that great. I feel like the world is going to turn into the book Fahrenheit 451, if you haven't read it you MUST!
I completely agree! When will people understand that texting, making phone calls and listening to music in places like shops when people are trying to serve you and expecially in restaurants...it's just plain rude! >:( I want to slap people who are in a restaurant...having a meal and they have their neck bent down (like you just demonstrated) with a phone texting under the table. Ergh!
I agree completley. i don't twitter/text/facebook. It's all bs. i have had innumerable friends hang out with me and texting. i have to stifle the urge to go,"would you put that fucking thing away!!!??"
It's because of this era that I have come to enjoy the classical moments. I have taken a liking in old music, old literature and history. Needless to say, this era is has a lot of concerns...and what's worse is that hardly anyone wants to do anything about it. It's awful.
Some one really didn't want to know what an amendment is? She really doesn't give a shit about her own rights? It's people like this that made the Dark Ages so easy... sigh...
I feel like I am the only one in the whole school without a cell phone. In all the fucking hallways there is always some bitch thats walking and has her head down at her cell phone. I was trying to get to my class and the bitch just didn't want to move! I am a 14 year old girl and I am glad my parents won't get me phone. During lunch breaks I find myself doing a lot more fun stuff than just texting on a cell... No wonder so many kids these days are so fucking stupid and have no education/manners
LOL, that girl doesn't know what an amendment is? I'm 13 and I think that is fucking pathetic, a phone should be a phone, not internet/games/text messaging.
So she (They lady) has the time to tell not to trash on Canadian girl yet she no time to know her rights? Wow...Yea, I don't have a credit card, I use straight up cash from my wallet, I don't have text, I just call people. Just like Last Dec I think, I asked the girl I was dating "I have a great idea, let's write love letters to each other, like the old fashion days. No texting, no phone calls or e mails. Just paper and pen". She broke up with me -_- She said it was "too hard" for her to do so
@LocoRico89 Aw, you sound like a sweet guy. I think it's for the better you two broke up, if she's too stupid to sit down and write something, that's just weird o_O
I only get upset about losing my phone, because I'm afraid that some creep will look up all my personal info using it and hunt me down...or that my parents will get mad at me.
I'm 14 and I agree. I almost want to see what would happen if the Internet, phones, and iPods, and T.V.s just shut off for a week. Just to see if people would be like ok, or if they'd freak out. Sadly, they'd probably all accomplish nothing without their electronics.
You keep saying "This next generation" and what not....Well, you're only 5 or 6 years older than me, so technically MY generation is YOUR generation, too. We'll all be running the country at the same time. Just saying. I hope it made sense!
But anyways, You're pretty cool, and I like your videos a lot!
like Burt Reynolds said in that great Camping Buddy Movie Deliverance, Technology is gonna fail & Machine are gonna fail, then its Surviva of the fitess .
I'm happy to say that I like technology but I'm not addicted to it. My phone is older than yours and I only ever use it for texting and calling (like normal people should, though I am guilty of walking and texting at times). I've never owned an Xbox or playstation since I was a kid and I had a playstation 1 (which was later passed down). Also, it really annoys me that people my age (17) can't sit down and read a book every now and then unless it's some gossip magazine.
Fuck these goddamn smart phones. Sick of stupid whore texting while driving. I've had two stupid cunts smash into my car because they were texting the guy that was going to plow them in the asshole later that night. Fuck cell phones.
I've always found it ironic that as our technology has evolved, purporting to be "the next giant leap in COMMUNICATIONS technology" has, in fact, pushed us all farther apart as a society. I can see the most attractive girl in the world, but the second she whips out that fucking phone and starts madly texting away she becomes repulsive to me. "Actual human interaction" shouldn't be something that's hard to find when you're OUTSIDE. Dammit people look UP! You're missing the world around you!
it's the fucking internet American right or even human rights mean nothing.i don't have a phone if someoney want to talk to me they can come and speak to me face to face.
i feel like wtf!!! why would people rather read a book on an ipod then read an actual book , i just want to punch someone in the face for that i swear im a huge book person but really really why not read
i feel like wtf!!! why would people rather read a book on an ipod then read an actual book , i just want to punch someone in the face for that i swear im a huge book person but really really why not read
Technology is nice, but you have to have a balance.
However,I hate Kindle and all other e-books. I prefer the feel of paper in my hands and the smell of new/old books.
Also, my NINE year old cousin has a laptop and her own personal phone. When I was nine, I was still playing with Barbie dolls and watching Saturday morning cartoons.
i ponder about this sometimes, like what if technology consumes us and we forget the finer things in life, life would end up just like the science fiction book fahrenheit 451
I agree and disagree. You're kind of being a tad hypocritical. It seems like your life revolves around technology but then you moan and groan about it. On the other hand I do agree that people can get carried away with it at times.
You're still a hoot though! Always making me laugh!
You're SO awesome but this video just used one of my HUGE speaking pet peeves (although I admit it may be a regoinal thing) but its standing IN LINE damn it not ON LINE. Are they standing on top of the internet? Is there an actual line on the floor? No OK, then you're IN a line.
I seriously lament not being able to have more people like you in my life. I would KILL to have a conversation with you, like seriously. You are so inspiring, and EVERYONE should have your mindset. The world would be better off =l
Mmm, yes. Trancendentalism. Walt Whitman. Dear Lord did they have it right. Quite honestly, I don't know if I could give up all of my material possessions, but I don't feel that I'd die without them. I love taking a walk through my small little town of Crestline on a nice mild spring day with a slight wind blowing and listening to the sounds of windchimes mingling in the air. The little things, the simpler things. We really do forget them too often...
I'm sorry, I really am... I felt the need to laugh my ass of just then. Did someone really and truly say "Oh, I don't have time to learn what an amendment is."
Like, really? Are you even a fucking American? Do you live in this country? Did you ever take a history class?!
It is and always will be people such as that waste that make MY life worth living. Oh... wow... just wow xDD
Why don't you have more views? Seriously you have been cracking me up for about an hour now and im just like wow, real fuckin views, and honest views about bullshit. Most people say the same shit about everything or the same shit everyone else said. Thanks for not being a mediocre douche bag that does whatever to get views.
I'm 13 and I have a 2nd hand phone from the year 2001. All my friends have the latest phones and make fun of me, but I'm like "at least it makes phone calls" hehe. Old phones FTW xD
@DrGnockerz Here's why it's annoying: I was driving home from New York and about to cross 8th avenue. Some dumb bitch was texting and walking and not paying attention. The light turned green but she was so concerned about her text message that she stood in the middle of the crosswalk looking at it. So I honked the horn good and loud at her, she screamed and crossed the street. Perfect example.
I'm a teen and I made my mom cancel my cellphone. I don't have an MP3 player, I prefer Vinyl. I hate seeing people walking and texting everywhere they fucking go. My mom and sister do that shit and I don't walk with them.
@gineriella I agree with you.I don't have a phone and i am 14.I really like walking with my dog on these really grassy, muddy fields without listening to music.
It's really sad that teenagers are already running the world now, and they will in the future..... That fucking frightens me, and I'm a teenager myself so I have to live in this world. I just might've found a new fucking fear... And haha, was some girl so stupid/ignorant that she didn't know what the Constitution is!? But yeah, I don't force this upon kids because I'm not like one of those overly dramatic vegans, but I say they need to drop the videogames and pick up an instrument or a book.
im proud to say my phone is just a phone, its a piece of crap compared to a a droid or whatever,i honestly dont get why every teen i see has to have a blackberry! what spoiled brats, when i was their age i wanted a cellphone my parents said no way! (keep in mind this was when cellphones were still a luxury item )
I agree, Gina. Technology seems to be damaging the younger generation the most; as they rarely are able to communicate without texting or tweeting. Writing skills are also becoming a thing of the past since kids are raised with computers and cell phones, and don't know much more than "OMG, LOL, BRB, IDK", etc. There are kids sitting in school right now who would rather text someone than talk to the person sitting right next to them. It's a shame...
i totally agree with you. some of my friends are constantly on Facebook and Twitter putting up status' every five minutes. people at my school text in every class and i'm like, what could you possibly have to talk about?!
Not to long ago before the onset of non-stop direct entertainment and information. Kids use to go outside and play in the streets. I cant remember the last time I had to slow down for some kid playing football of riding bikes. My parents would unplug my NES and hide for weeks at a time to make sure I spent my free time socializing with my friends outside of the house. What happened?
Soon there won't be any phones, it'll just be chips implanted directly on your brain. Basically it will be like terminator vision, if you've seen the movie Terminator. AYO
@cuzitsnecessary Great point... I think this "Autotune" bullshit has destroyed music. Nowadays, any no-talent hack can sell millions of records to misguided teens and make tons of money with very little effort. I've got a couple of them in mind, but I think you get the point. =D
I'm part of the next generation. Most of us are uncultured and all they care is about electronics. I could easily go weeks without my phone, I've had the same phone for almost 4 years now. I read more then I watch TV, I read before I get dressed in the morning, I read while I eat breakfast, whenever I have free time I take out a book, I read for aleast 45 minutes before bed. Though I must say, I don't read the newspaper, it depresses me because there is never any good news going on in the world.
I'm 14 years old and I used to read all the time when I was younger but then I got into friends more than education and now that I moved and am now focusing more on my education I want to start reading books again. Could you recommend me any books that you think a teen like me would be interested in reading?
I had an iphone but I lost it in college when it fell. I didn't go all crazy for it even though it was almost 2 years old. But I do stuff without technology like workout and jog, write poetry. I think typing is easier but it doesn't help writing skills. I write all the time and everyone says I write like a chic and I'm a guy.
im being honest when i say....im almost 19 years old and i have never once asked for an ipod or never once wanted one....dont get me wrong i love music in fact i actually write and compose "if you want to call it that" but i seriously love to walk and enjoy the music world presents to me...the sound of wind blowing sounds so peaceful...and i really have never cared of having a cellphone...my mom eventually gave me one when i was 16...very nice video...i can relate
Shouldn't that girl have learned about the amendments in school?
Technology gets in the way of learning as well. When I was in high school all you would see if people texting during lectures or tests or anything school related that was boring to them. I found it hilarious when afterward they were devastated and confused as to why they failed the class. It's pathetic.
a couple of years ago i told my englsih teacher that i always wanted to have the latest gadgets. she then told me: If you have everything, you'll value nothing.
im 14 years old, and honestly, i cant stand growing up in todays society. in fact, i HATE it. everything just seems so terrible. music, fashion, and like you explained, technology. i wish i grew up in the 70's-80's. i think i was ment to lol
Aldous Huxley proposed in "Brave New World" that we, as a society, would drown in a sea of irrelevance. It seems we're doing a pretty good job of fulfilling his prophecy.
I HATE when people ask a question on a comment or status or something. YOU CAN LOOK THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION UP ON THE INTERNET! So annoying and lazy.
Awesome vrant, IMO your best. My NY resolution is to do less bullshit online, because it feels like my brain was melting, I was getting bored quickly with anything serious and wasting loads of time on nothing. But I'm from different generation, I was writing letters when younger and don't even have a smartphone.Young people nowadays don't read and interest in nothing but bullshit. I hope I won't live long enough to see what their children would be like.
I sit down in class early and everyone around me pulls out their phone to text while I'm sitting there just waiting patiently for the teacher. This is college.
I'm thinking, what ever happened to sitting down, standing in line, walking, driving, etc just WAITING??? Has this society become so impatient that they can't just wait a few moments???
I know what you mean, it's very disconcerting that for the first time in human history, knowledge has become so accessible that within a few clicks we can have virtually unlimited resources telling us almost anything we could want to know on just about any topic imaginable, and yet we seem more ignorant than ever. It's a very revealing statement about human nature.
I use to have a Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Formspring, etc account. And I recently deleted every one of those because I came to the same conclusion. My friends freaked out a bit. Those sites were a huge distraction. I'm doing a lot more in life without them, I actually am reading the books for my class. And it was fun. I also don't have those new-new phone with all these features. I don't think it's great having the Internet and such with us all the time in our phones.
It's a bit uninspired. It's sounds like the revelation of a stoner. Perhaps if you felt more emotion on the subject, I could take you more seriously. I understand what your saying, I've lost near all hope in humanity myself, but it just sounds like your preaching to the choir.
*gasp* you can snap :O i do not have that ability XD
also, i like reading books, the books that were made from a tree and that i have to physically turn the page. I hate reading online, or on a ipad (tried it and hate it) and you know what, the battery life on a normal book kicks ASS (VLOGBROS REFF :D)
I don't like hanging out with my friends outside of school because they're constantly texting other people. I'm trying to spend time with them and I want their full attention...I don't want to be second to a phone.
When I'm helping one of my friends with her homework, it's especially bad. She won't turn it off until I threaten to take it away, and even then she just silences it.
@potsocket Besides, I think it's pretty safe to say that when people like you consider chatting on FaceBook to be "social" society is definitely spiraling down towards a culture I'm no fan of. You seriously consider sitting in the same room, but instead of actually talking chatting on FaceBook to be social?
@potsocket Lol, I love how you say that without knowing a single thing about me. For example; at this time in my life had a serious illness which gave me a severe headache. Just being in the same room as somone else and hearing them breathe would be painful enough. After two whole hours in a classroom with 30 other people I'd be at my limit, which would be why I'd like some solitude. Besides, if I wanted to be social I would've actually, y'know, TALKED to people. Face to face, not online.
i only use my computer to paint in photoshop or just when im bored lol
im a teenager
i mean, sure you could go on and on about how things were better in the good old days but in the end humanity have allways been fucked up, in one way or the other and the only thing keeping me going is that i know there are people out there who you can have hope for
This is why I'm subscribed to you Gineriella. You seem to have the same outlook and opinion on subjects such as this that I do. I don't have a Facebook account, I don't have a twitter account, I don't have a smartphone, I don't have an Ipod. I do have a computer (obviously) but I mostly use it for college unless I'm not busy doing work. I love living in the moment that is right now and just enjoying life as it should be, simple. I think that's how it should be.
AMEN To the amendment thing!!!! I'm In AP Gov and the fact that I didn't know even 99% of what I learned was amazing to me. Our lives are full of no information. :P
I am a teenager. And let me tell you something... You're totally right. My generation definitely depends too much on technology. I don't mind, I mean, I love my video games, but I could live without them.
I enjoy just being, sometimes. But my step-brothers... Oh God help them.
The oldest one is very technology-dependent, the middle one needs constant entertainment, and the youngest thinks there's only three things in life. TV, Football (Soccer) and his girlfriend. No joke. And he's 11!
I grew up in a time when we didnt even have a # sign on our phones...and call waiting was something unheard of. You got a busy signal you either called back later..or psychotically dialed the number over and over til you got through (and NO,.we didnt have redial either!) So now I see people walking around...not even with their hands to their heads...but walking around talking into the air like schizos (damn blue tooth)...and wonder what they did before all this! Great vid!
Orale and some people know how to use a phone but some people dont they think that if they know howto tweet from their phone their smart lolz and u kan find that tipe of people working at bestbuy i whent yesterday and im like can i unlock this phone to use with att simple right he said yea u press back and space dumbass
All my friends are shocked that I have my mobile phone switched on like 5 days a month, and you know what I don't even know where my phone is right now. Some people are kind of addicted to technology. I have a twitter but rarely tweet got nothing important to say haha.
It's funny that you'd make this video, I actually have been making a point to just being lately. When there wasn't snow on the ground, I would go out and just walk. Maybe sit under a tree and think for a while.
That's another thing that people don't do anymore. They don't think. They busy themselves with mindless activities such as Facebook and things of the like. It makes me really sad and I wonder where we're going and if that destination is worth getting to.
I was at a camp last summer. It was great since we had no technology except our phones for like 15 minutes in the evening to call our parents if we wanted.
Everyone who was there said it was great not to feel the need to check their Facebook or whatnot every few minutes. And to be honest, it might have been the best week of my life :D
I feel the same. Many people would rather learn what Bieber's 14th favorite color than actual things that matter. This is made all the more sad because like you said with the 1st Amendment, one can use Google or Bing or whatever to find what it is, but they'd rather check some celebrity's Twitter.
I agree I feel that way most of the time, and I can't deny that technology has made me severely impatient to the point that I have to multitask. But I never listen to my ipod when I'm walking or taking public transportation and IF I have to be online too much, I use it to give me ideas to write my stories and original content(creative and innovative purposes). I feel bad for those who use technology just to get more freedom for themselves ( I-generation)and not to see what reality presents them
I'm guilty of texting with my phone...and that's because I can't stand talking on the phone. And I play Ms. Pac-Man...that's about all I do with my phone tho...I hate all that flashy shit. It's irritating. And I HATE touch screen phones! They are the most annoying type of phone to me for some reason...ugh...I just want buttons. Good old fashioned buttons. I still read and write, too. And watch documentaries. lol
The problem is now a days that people don't know how to live without technology now a days. If one of these days technology didn't work, they would rather commit suicide than live in that kind of world with little to no technology.
Literally teenagers minds are turning into shit. Apperently in my highschool when me and my friends go camping it makes us a bunch of dumbasses for moving away from technology and i quote a bitch in my art class "thats stupid why would you go into the woods and just sit there" and i said "getting away from all the bullshit your surrounded me" apperently she didnt get it.
I have a friend who constantly goes on wikkipedia to learn things, but heres what he learns, every detail on every band he likes, every porn stance that exists, and retarded random facts about things ranging from the newest video games to why people kiss, its annoying as hell, and he cant take a hint it just annoys everyone when he spits out random facts that dont matter, and that noone cares about
And there was a time in this country, a long time ago, when reading wasn't just for fags and neither was writing. People wrote books and movies, movies that had stories so you cared whose ass it was and why it was farting, and I believe that time can come again!
@gineriella so your saying if kids are social and are on phones and like games on their ipods, they dont have interests and the whole country is screwed. how ignorant
@potsocket You're as dumb as a box of rocks. She didn't say being social is bad, she said immersing your self into technology so deeply that you forget that there is a world outside of technology is bad. And to be quite honest it really seems that we are going that way.
@uter74 I hope so, a few years back a girl on my bus actually made fun of me for reading a classic book. It is a sad day when educating yourself becomes something to mock 0.o
I agree with the point YOU'RE making in this video. But you have got to have some sort of concern for teenagers and the coming generations and the simple fact that it's making us lazy. Rather than going out to a library and looking up information for school or as a leisure activity, we now have resources like Wikipedia where we do not even have to leave our homes. Rather than going to concerts, we listen to them at home. Who knows what ten years down the road may hold.
Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Shane Dawson and Snooki. Never did I think 5 people I wish didn't exist would be referenced in the same video. Please can we be friends?
The funny thing is, I am going to school for Eletrical Engineering and Computer Tech. So I should be in love with Technology, and in a way I am. However, I can't keep up with this stuff. We need to slow down. WAY DOWN! I mean, so many people are quick to buy the latest phone, every year it seems. And they wonder why they can't pay their bills. We need to slow down and re-think our priorities. Thats the key. We are so screwed up as a society. Its very sad!
One thing that always bugs me is when people are constantly listening to their Ipods WHEREVER they are, why can't they be without it fro a trip to the grocery store. I'm sad how most people in my generation forget simplicity in nature and whatnot. It's just ... the "overuse" of technology makes me feel less human inside, and it's sad that it's the direction the world seems to be taking. Technology is fine, but it's becoming overwhelming ...
These kids and teens today. Wow! I have lost all hope for society! I would hate to see these kids go without their ipods and droid phones for a week. I don't even use my cell phone, but as an alarm clock. These kids don't know what an amendment is, or what rights they have? No wonder they are being taken away from us constantly! These kids are even afraid of physical contact. I'm serious! If you've ever seen the movie Demolition Man....thats where we're headed. And 1984!
@KungFuKid1015 I'd like to inform you that I'm 15 years old and am indeed very fond of technology, but I also agree with you at the same time. I hate my generation and everything about it. Kids are too damn lazy to pick up a book or socially interact face-to-face with somebody. Everyone hides behind a cell phone or a computer screen, chatting away through text messages or facebook. They are also the ones who most often use the term "You have no life." Ironic, isn't it?
@jprobst98 Oh, I know. Its not all teens and young people, but also people that are my age 25 and older some of them. But most of them teens. So many of kids your age, unfortunately do not understand that they have a 1st amendment, and they don't know what that means. They also don't understand that their lives are being over run by technology and are WAY too soft and phyisically un-nurished...I mean, are kids even required to take Gym class anymore? I know they no longer play dodgeball SAD!
@KungFuKid1015 Yeah, I completely agree. At my school we are required to have at least 3 semesters of gym class, and we can't play dodgeball because it's too "dangerous" but we can fucking do archery with false-tip bows, which is more dangerous than a rubber ball. But anyway, at my school, no one can live without a cell phone. I think it's absolutely ridiculous. Cell phones aren't that big of deal. People live off them so much that they're actually banned at my high school. Sad, right?
@jprobst98 Well, I think its cool that they allow archery, but stupid that they banned dodgeball. Actually 50 years ago, they allowed rifle practice in most schools. And guess what, NO ONE went crazy and shot their classmates. Its good that you schood requires 3 semsters of gym class, I think thats important, as well as Math, Science, Literature, and History, Then Art, Music. Anymore most of the kids I see are more into the Arts and music, and have no clue when it comes to the acedemics!
@KungFuKid1015 Yes, I agree. I am more interested in art, but academics definitely comes first. It's what matters most. Also, to add a funny story, I was actually told I had no life because I rarely use my cell phone. So, because I don't sit at home and lose my IQ over pressing little buttons on a phone all day instead of interacting with somebody in person, I am a lifeless fool with no friends. Riiiggghhht lol.
im a teen im so glad that ppl like you, thearchfiend, mues, undertakerfreak1127 and CammehYaBams exist...becouse without u guys i would just be another mindless brainwashed teenager thats contolled by the fucking media
so thx to u for telling me the truth

I completely agree! One of my friends was saying that she needed a new phone, and I'm like "why?" and she was like "Because my phone right now doesn't have games on it," and I'm like "Does it make calls and text messages?" and she's like "Yes," and so I'm like "That's all you should need in a phone," and she's like "But I want games," and I died a little inside. This Is what we have come to, folks. It's so sad.

It's because of this era that I have come to enjoy the classical moments. I have taken a liking in old music, old literature and history. Needless to say, this era is has a lot of concerns...and what's worse is that hardly anyone wants to do anything about it. It's awful.

I'm 14 and I agree. I almost want to see what would happen if the Internet, phones, and iPods, and T.V.s just shut off for a week. Just to see if people would be like ok, or if they'd freak out. Sadly, they'd probably all accomplish nothing without their electronics.

"I don't have the time to learn what an amendment is." That basically sums up what 75% of the people at my school are like.

However,I hate Kindle and all other e-books. I prefer the feel of paper in my hands and the smell of new/old books.
Also, my NINE year old cousin has a laptop and her own personal phone. When I was nine, I was still playing with Barbie dolls and watching Saturday morning cartoons.

gmcnewlook 1 year ago
I agree, Gina. Technology seems to be damaging the younger generation the most; as they rarely are able to communicate without texting or tweeting. Writing skills are also becoming a thing of the past since kids are raised with computers and cell phones, and don't know much more than "OMG, LOL, BRB, IDK", etc. There are kids sitting in school right now who would rather text someone than talk to the person sitting right next to them.

@potsocket Besides, I think it's pretty safe to say that when people like you consider chatting on FaceBook to be "social" society is definitely spiraling down towards a culture I'm no fan of. You seriously consider sitting in the same room, but instead of actually talking chatting on FaceBook to be social?
whohie 1 year ago
@potsocket Lol, I love how you say that without knowing a single thing about me. For example; at this time in my life had a serious illness which gave me a severe headache. Just being in the same room as somone else and hearing them breathe would be painful enough. After two whole hours in a classroom with 30 other people I'd be at my limit, which would be why I'd like some solitude. Besides, if I wanted to be social I would've actually, y'know, TALKED to people. Face to face, not online.

@gineriella so your saying if kids are social and are on phones and like games on their ipods, they dont have interests and the whole country is screwed. how ignorant
potsocket 1 year ago
@potsocket You're as dumb as a box of rocks. She didn't say being social is bad, she said immersing your self into technology so deeply that you forget that there is a world outside of technology is bad. And to be quite honest it really seems that we are going that way.
whynotzoidburg 1 year ago
@potsocket I would hardly classify being on Facebook or texting as "social".

@HurtMeSoul108 Thanks, But I'm afraid we wont slow down, we can't. But I DO beleive thats what we need to do.

And 1984!
KungFuKid1015 1 year ago
@KungFuKid1015 I'd like to inform you that I'm 15 years old and am indeed very fond of technology, but I also agree with you at the same time. I hate my generation and everything about it. Kids are too damn lazy to pick up a book or socially interact face-to-face with somebody. Everyone hides behind a cell phone or a computer screen, chatting away through text messages or facebook. They are also the ones who most often use the term "You have no life." Ironic, isn't it?
jprobst98 1 year ago
@jprobst98 Oh, I know. Its not all teens and young people, but also people that are my age 25 and older some of them. But most of them teens. So many of kids your age, unfortunately do not understand that they have a 1st amendment, and they don't know what that means. They also don't understand that their lives are being over run by technology and are WAY too soft and phyisically un-nurished...I mean, are kids even required to take Gym class anymore? I know they no longer play dodgeball SAD!
KungFuKid1015 1 year ago
@KungFuKid1015 Yeah, I completely agree. At my school we are required to have at least 3 semesters of gym class, and we can't play dodgeball because it's too "dangerous" but we can fucking do archery with false-tip bows, which is more dangerous than a rubber ball. But anyway, at my school, no one can live without a cell phone. I think it's absolutely ridiculous. Cell phones aren't that big of deal. People live off them so much that they're actually banned at my high school. Sad, right?
jprobst98 1 year ago
@jprobst98 Well, I think its cool that they allow archery, but stupid that they banned dodgeball. Actually 50 years ago, they allowed rifle practice in most schools. And guess what, NO ONE went crazy and shot their classmates. Its good that you schood requires 3 semsters of gym class, I think thats important, as well as Math, Science, Literature, and History, Then Art, Music. Anymore most of the kids I see are more into the Arts and music, and have no clue when it comes to the acedemics!
KungFuKid1015 1 year ago
@KungFuKid1015 Yes, I agree. I am more interested in art, but academics definitely comes first. It's what matters most. Also, to add a funny story, I was actually told I had no life because I rarely use my cell phone. So, because I don't sit at home and lose my IQ over pressing little buttons on a phone all day instead of interacting with somebody in person, I am a lifeless fool with no friends. Riiiggghhht lol.

I brought my iPod to college today and I didn't use it once. Thought I was going mad, but now that I've watched this I feel so much better.
You're missing the point about Twitter, btw.
