Does anyone else see any subtle resemblances between Ron Paul and Carlin? Like how they want to lessen the amount of power and influence the gov has in people's lives. Carlin is a lot more straightforward with it, but if Paul starts doing the same then even some of his supporters will turn against him. Even he has to be polite when dealing with arrogant shits we call 'government'.

@rhun664 It's impossible for George to resemble anyone running for office. Candidacy indicates an investment in the system, no matter how altruistic one's intentions may be. Carlin eschewed the system. Getting government out of personal lives is a shared agenda for the two, perhaps, but deregulation of business and faith in laissez-faire capitalism were not high on his list. Ron Paul is as "government" as the other shits. Being a longshot doesn't exempt him from the label (also he's in congress)

@Fukkutah Carlin believed elections to be a charade to give Americans the illusion of choice. He repeatedly referred to the "owners" of this country as a small elite group of people with the power to subtly control our lives. In fact, he publicly advocated not voting. I respect that you support someone with a real ideology and don't mean to offend, but the idea of George endorsing any candidate cheapens his memory. If alive, he'd do something much more meaningful, and much funnier.

@PhrygiusDomine Ron Paul's philosophy as Carlin although not expressed in comic terms, would be agreeable - not wanting the government to tell you what to say and not joke about. What about wars and the Fed/bankers; don't you think Carlin referred to those as the owners of America. I agree with what you say on Carlin's stance on politicians and politics, but Paul is not one of those. I love Carlin the comedian and the philosopher and if you look closely you'll see common ground between the two.

@Fukkutah Paul is absolutely a politician. He's been in congress for over a decade. If I were a neo-nazi I might say that Carlin, like Hitler, wasn't afraid to say things that would offend the faint of heart, understood the power of propaganda, and wished people were free from what they perceived to be a slimy, powerful elite. Paul and George are libertarian, Hitler and George were provocateurs. Of course there's obvious common ground, but if he wanted to endorse either, he would have.

@PhrygiusDomine point taken, but remember that Paul too is a provocateur; why else would the media gang up on him? I think it's because he provokes unpopular, though in my opinion, sound positions. And Paul didn't wake up on election day and decide: this is the position that would get me elected, but rather have held his prostitutions, which kept him on a fringe, for the entirety of his political career, which is seldom found in today's politics. Like Carlin, Paul believes in what he says.

@recordmancharlie you know so little. First off Carlin does not tell it exactly as it is. He himself stated that any good joke needs exaggeration. Which means that his jokes are exaggerated. Second if the government was demolished we would be far worse off. Crime would skyrocket, we would be defenseless against other countries in the case of war, and our entire country would fall apart. Third we have not lost all that many rights despite what some would like you to believe.
