Maybe cuteness isn't a flaw, but it is unnecessary. Maybe it's there to disguise the fact how platformers are last last gen. Still, a lack of cuteness would sort of hinder the atmosphere, making the game visually unappealing. Or something. Alternatively, the cutesy asthetic might be there to evoke the infinite feeling of childhood wonderment, to encourage creation and blah blah blah blah. Whichever makes more sense.

There is no FORCED cuteness, the graphics were and still are pretty revolutionary. Cute - when using level design, you can make a level hard as nails. No cute stuff there. Sackboy is a character, and as a previous guy said, anyone say mario is too 'cute'. Go play a mad warmongering first person shooter. Cuteness is not a flaw. Not even saying anymore.
