I hate it how stupid journalists show pictures of water coolant towers whenever they want us to visualize pollution. Look out everyone, the evaporated water is going to kill us all.
The government must cleanse bad society keeping criminals off the streets so the business criminals can make money off the system... It's ALL about the system...
PLEASE.. all this BS jargon "industrial prison complex"
does not make it somehow more sinister. Muthafuckas commit crimes, they gotta do the time. I love these Jewish pseudo American Indians and their BS anti corporate hypocrisy. Fuck global warming too.
Its sad in Florida you can not even get a job at Wal-Mart or become a garbage man due to EPA laws.I cant blame felons for what they do ,it seems like its the best route for most of them .
How dare they lock those people up for committing crimes! It's racist to lock up blacks! Raping and murdering is their right for all the slavery and racist oppression!
nearly all nations have been enslaved by another at some point in their history, the african eygptians were famous for it,you could even say that the first white settlers in america were slaves to their english king until they chose to revolt,so i cannot understand why africans blame the whites, look at the african mess today, they are free but they all want to immigrate to white richer countries for a easy life sponging off the system that whites pay their hard earned taxes on
my point is that blacks are now trying to enslave white governments to spend all their money on a black baby boom that will eventually lead to the decline of western civilizations
the LAW is manipulated to suite the goverment big money ,we have mother and fathers inprisoned for not paying CHILD SUPPORT how the hell is that a crime not right but still not a crime people need to wake up and see that it is so easey to become one you go fishing without a lic. you are a criminal. dont pay your taxes yep you got it taxes were a war time deal social security we are giveing it to who ever dont matter if you earned it or not but dont pay a ticket and see what happens it bullshit
Because they are criminals my ass, perhaps they are just interfering in the process of Peter stealing from Paul - do not bite that had that feeds it will lead back to your own door... Lest we forget - justice ....if you have not noticed it has become a a crime to think - thats why all the morons that can't are walking loose.... spit ... who's is enforcing universal laws and she is getting mighty pissed
they are not singled out take responsibility for your actions no matter black or white. The rob or kill so they shout not do the crime..if you cannot do the time don't do the crime...
That analysis is too simple. Assuming a fair legal process, which is a an incredible assumption. Have you considered why they are more likely to break the law. There is systematic injustice at work. Don't take my word for it, do search.
they break the law because the think they will get away with it and their parents have not thought them right from wrong. stop blaming your colour for your acyions it getting real old in todays society..
What ivory tower do you live in? Please educate yourself look at the demographics and racial minorities ratios versus populations ... it is easy to talk like that until you have been shackled and chained just because and no I do not have a criminal record, Lest we forget.
shackled and chained you were never so het off your high horse and face it you have no one to blame but your self. I have worked in the criminal department of justice and ebver time yoou blame one one person excep the one who should be blamed..you. No one forcede you to do it so get over it..
"High horse" you are hilarious ... gallows humour I expect. It goes along with the whole philosophy of the criminal justice system. Who do you blame for those whom were shackled and chained under slavery? You "have" worked in the criminal justice system. I am truly sorry for your apparent loss. You were given a gift and ignored it. So sad.
shackled and chained under slavery? get over it blacks were not only the slaves in history. jews have been slaves for years in thepast and they did really will, not blaming others. Plus your IQ don't determin you self going to jill, its you who break the law that do that. God Dame it, stop blaming others and except responsiblity for what you did to get your self there in the first place. So get over it, it happen to your ancestors not you so the gravy train is gone get a life
Disenfranchisement is the American way to take away the right to vote from Americans. Americans today have more right to own a gun than they do to vote. The American Justice system is today, under George Bush, known international as The Gulag. It's one that -- once you are in it -- you will find nearly impossible to escape.
WTF? I'm all for rehibilitating violators of victimless crimes & see no reason why they need to be imprisioned, but most of those in prison today would not be there if they had known their rights... such as the protection from illeagal search and seisure which people routinely give up in the face of the police. Secondly, anyone advocating the removal of firearms from private citizens should ask the UK how they feel, they lost that right, home invasions are up & people can't protect themselves.
Sources? There was all of one statistic, I think. That is my main problem with the news, this whole video was an appeal to emotion, the lack of statistics or sources makes it more or less irrelevant, which is sad, because I agree with the general point, which is that prisons need to be reformed.
What about Mike Gravel? He helped end the Vietnan War by ending the military draft and releasing the top secret Pentagon Papers!
He is also running for president in 2008 but nobody even pays him any mind....how sad that we have become a soda pop culture with easy flashy fixes, rather than a culture with any substance to it.....
or perhaps this society never really had any substance to begin with?
prisons are a form of slavery, so are rehab treatment centers, and all of the sort & kind... I will never know how humanity has become what it is today... we only getting worse...
they are indeed...and when prisoners are ccompelled to work for corporations or coroorations make profit from housing prisoners it equates very well to slavery. Is not slavery when one profits from the imprisonment of others?
Points well-taken! It's easy to understand and connect the dots. Edom's thirst for total control over lives and property will lead to the jailing of any dissident, rich or poor...in the coming police state. What you see are trial runs until it's full-blown.
wtf? How'd she forget about Gravel? Shes obviously in tune with the fact that you cant trust politicians. How come shes not in tune with a national initiative?
Minorities are disproportionately victims of the prison system, many for non-violent "victimless" crimes like drug offenses. Ron Paul has a policy to end the federal "war on drugs". This would see all non-violent drug offenders, jailed through the federal system, released. This would be the greatest act of anti-discrimination the country has seen for decades, but she fails to mention him as a potential candidate, with Kucinich, and Nader - a clear oversight, given his strong anti-war stance, too
It seems like human nature to feel they and their group deserve more and them and those people need to be taken out of the social equation. That is essentially Nazi or Republican in political nature. If basic social resources are not cultivated, the prisons are going to end up as the wasteland peopled with the neglected. One day there will be some kind of massive civil or class war, and if people survive it will begin again. Honest people are more socially valuable than leaders and winners.
She looses me when she goes off on her hippie rant about guns and polution but about the original topic of corporate prisons profiting from inmates and using the 'war on drugs' as their engine is absolutely correct. Corporate prisons make profit from the incarceration of humans. Thus their corporate logic is that in order to make more profit they must incarcerate more people. This is a dangerous precedent which has already been set.
For someone who's 'educated herself on politics' she's got a rather limited view. She's missing a good two dozen antiwar candidates including the most vocal one in her own party.
I agree but the title should be clear that the people in jail aren't the slaves it's the people who have to pay the $40000or$50000 a year to stop people form getting crack at a cheep price thus bating poor people into selling and getting caught creating more jobs for the fascist and enslaving the productive part of society
Yours is of course the usuall shallow libertarian, "I'm tired of paying taxes and having my tax money wasted." argument. The fact remains that the people in jail are often compelled to work for companies to pay for their incarceration while at the same the prison companies are still getting your tax dollars. Our justice system is an abomination and an affront to our Constitution. Most Libertarians don't realize this because they are mostly only concerned with themselves.
you got me all wrong along with most libertarians. I dispute that any significant number of people in jail are compelled to work and I don't think that makes any difference if they are. Libertarians are the first and only people to come to the defense of people who sell drugs and one of the few groups defending the rights of the user along with all other nonviolent criminals. the problem is that people like this woman object to the result of enforcing moral law but not the principle
Well I agree with you that many people who decry the imprisonment of drug offenders still maintain that it is some sort of social malady that needs to be confronted on a large scale with public funding. But I would suggest looking into the corporate prison trend and little more, you will find things that should shock the freedom loving person, given taht you can accept the majority of people are in the prison population because of the drug war and given that you agree they should not be there.
I think we're pretty much on the same page. I don't object to corporate prisons any more than the government ones. They both have strong motivations to expand but I don't see corporations the primary ones promoting the policies that got us here nor is it solely the neocons. the people claming to represent the inner city and black community have plaid a major role in promoting the war on drugs as a cure for social problems but there's plenty of blame to spread around
I'd say the real problem with the American criminal justice system is that is aimed towards punishment rather than rehabilitation. If we look at Norway, lowest murder rate in the world, you'd find out that prisons are not there to punish people but to teach them how to live in society. This generates more revenue than locking up people for 40 years
There needs to be a new approach to crime in the US if this is ever gonna change
Removing the third strike law would also be a good idea
I agree with most of what Kelly says. Beyond the need to protect the public from a few really dangerous individuals, prisons are a scandal in a so-called civilized society.
I hate it how stupid journalists show pictures of water coolant towers whenever they want us to visualize pollution. Look out everyone, the evaporated water is going to kill us all.
