  • wtf!!!! david lynch is insane

  • 3:35 ... it's terrifying ...

  • THIS

    IS

    AWESOME!!

  • Many people find music pathetic sometimes but I know Lynch is like me he likes it a bit too much

  • Mr. Monk would not be happy to see this. (Dr. Kroger demanding them to give him his hammer.)

  • I may be the sole pirate here with the use of only one hand.

  • This is totally Inland Empire. I recognize the actors.

  • This is probably a delected scene from Inland Empire. I love this song. it`s beutiful and sad.

  • la huea shula

  • that video made me feel stoned, and i dont smoke.

  • we are the rabbits..did you ever put your hands up in front of the cinema projector to make hand shadows.rabbits, crocs, etc?

we are making it dark for them.

great thing about david lynch is he makes you think..

  • are they inside the tv. the tv gets turned off...use of one hand is the remote control, a pirate with the power to steal them away by changing channel/turning tv off?

  • what type of camera was this shot on? and can I have an mp3 of the song at the end?

  • The way these people sit together, the way they communicate, the sorroundings - the sounds in the background, a total of this give me constanly shivers down the spine - this is what Lynch is able to do!

  • They are inside the television.

  • That's true. Important is, what's left to the tv is(what's there?). There's the photo. I am going to sell all of this because:

    1) I don't care

2)They could cheat me anyway (like beating you down, and then coming back as someone else with help hand and with "reward", and then knocking again for believing the "reward"). ,. and silence is a good way to put people into press.

  • The "Inland Empire" is a world that exists within the realm of television and radio waves.

  • this is like a beckett play

  • "I may be the sole pirate here with the use of only one hand." I'll never know what he means but I'll always wonder and that's why I love David Lynch.

  • captain hook

  • lol, I love that line, it's somehow very significant... at least to me.

  • mmmmm....

ok for me it's a 'cagata pazzesca'

  • gah the singing stuff is so stupid. the stuff before it (as amateurish as it was) was intense though! kinda wish it was included in the film.

  • Are they waiting for a UFO or something ?

  • they're waiting for your mother

  • RIP Stanley Kamel.

  • Inland Empire: The Musical

  • I thought you went to the circus

  • Normally this is the part where I stroke my chin and say 'I think I see why the director cut this scene from their film' and then explain why they did so as best I can wager.

Unfortunately, this is David Lynch AND Inland Empire we're talking about here...so uh, who can say?

  • this is defintly no fake, its real lynch!...

  • No shit Sherlock.

  • weren't those two girls prostitutes in inland empire? this is definately a scene that was cut from the movie

  • i love how lynch made a film to give us the same sleepy bizzarre feeling that his meditation apparently gives him. At least that is what i think lynch intended.

  • Obviously not too many people have heard of mind control, and... UH, lets have more singing and dancing scenes in a movie made about the worst kinds of slavery and death YAY!

  • Someone else who gets it.

  • They each have a different chair

  • 3:49 reminds me of inland empire's ending. creepy.

  • for reasons i won't go into this really creeped me out, until they started singing, and then i started laughing. thank god for the comic relief.

  • Reasons you won't go into? Now you HAVE to tell me. Why did you mention it? Do you know how irritading that is to a person with large curiousity? Feel my agony, argh!

  • What the hell that was about?

  • This may have been intenede to be in Inland Empire. The guy was in the barbeque scene, and he was in the circus. It might have been cut out early because it wasn't relevant to the story of IE.

  • where from come this scene?

  • anything david lynch does becomes a beautiful nightmare.

  • too bad this make it into the film. then we would have two events of random group singing/dancing. how I love them random singing and dancing moments.

  • he's dressed for summer from the waist down and winter from the waist up

  • I'm ready for my B-12 shot.

  • GOd, I am so lost, and feel really awkward inside.

  • That's Lynch's charm

  • Naw.

    Nevermind.

It's more like a game of chess, but with words for "pawns". There we go. Xecond time's a charm.

    ^_^

  • This video is such "homework". But mainly a riddle and puzzle to the rest of us.

    Like a rubik's cube.

But with eyes, and cheeky grins.

    I love it!

    ^_^

  • This is absurd, hilarious, and unsettling. I love it.

  • he is the master of making the mundane creepy

  • Absolutely Brilliant!

  • tnallirB yletulosbA

  • Pure genius.

  • Typical "Lynchian" weirdness. I Love it!! A couple of hot chicks, one deeply stressed-looking dude, and some sparse, odd dialogue and you got yourself a classic David Lynch scene.

  • "I may be the sole pirate here with the use of only one hand"

    "you might be"

    "I am"

  • lol david lynch films look like nonesense to normal people but mean more to true fans..nice video

  • David Lynch - the first TRUE artist arrived in Hollywood. Kick them out, David!

  • Lynch is the best at making truley scary creepy scenes. No monsters or anything like that, but Inland Empire has these truley dreadful moments where you're frozen with fear. Genius.

  • This is the Lynch's world!

  • Shame it did not last longer.

  • There is always that dreadful sense of paranoia that runs throughout Lynch movies. That feeling of almost losing one's mind but then making it back in one piece albeit completely broken open and changed. Never a bad thing. He catches nervous breakdowns and psychotic episodes so well, and then there is also reincarnation...Love the genius!

  • Then you loose the lines altogether and you become what you are seeing because what you are seeing is only what you are thinking and it becomes like your dream. That's what movies and TV does to us everyday but we just accept that the lines are there.

  • You seem to be talking about films..

  • verry well put.

  • This is quintessential David Lynch..you have to SEE between the lines, it makes you see the lines between the lines of what you think you are seeing. What you you think you are thinking. What you think you are thinking about what you are seeing.

  • this is not wierd...this is Lynch!!! ,)

  • wtf? this is just weird

  • It just reminds me of being on acid

  • That's not for you to say!

  • well I loved it, great tension and creepiness but so bland at the same time - that's classic Lynch right there

  • Well put. Bland, creepy, and full of tension, just like my childhood.

  • awesome.

  • all three were on inland empire.

  • this was not a scene in INLAND EMPIRE, but I know that the two on the left and right were in the movie, I'm not sure about the centre. But it is the location from the movie

  • I own almost every David Lynch film on DVD and I sent my address to get this one as well. This did not disappoint. Maybe it doesn't make sense from a linear perspective, but that's what is Lynch's greatest strength: you can watch and re-watch his work over and over again and find something new.

  • This is just the actors relaxing inbetween takes of Inland empire. That's just what it's like to be on the set of a Lynch film, not that I'd know, but I can dream.

  • @TombyStone haha :) it's a nice thought

  • @TombyStone haha, great thought.. I mean that's NOT for you to say ;)

  • looks like lynch caught another big fish, maybe with the help of his one handed pirate friend. nice to finally see a clip of this, still i'm very bummed that it didn't show in theatres AT ALL??? in philadelphia. dvd summer 07???

and laura dern's hair looks so much better than in wild at heart, i knew she had it in her!

  • I cant stop saying: " I may be the only Pirate here with the use of only one hand"

I just blurt it out constantly now. I cant get that line out of my head.

  • "You might be."

  • I can't wait for INLAND EMPIRE! When's it coming to the UK?

  • i saw it last week at the haymarket odeon near piccadilly circus. it is supposed to be on general release from the 9th march.

  • I've seen I.E. twice in New York, and it's not only NOT self-indulgent as people have accused it of being, but also worth seeing at least twice (so one can better appreciate its humor). This cut scene has the same setting as one of the movie's funniest moments, during a backyard cookout.

  • I have seen the film, and this scene is NOT in the film...

  • It's darker. It's weird. It's Lynch.

  • Who's the girl in the middle?

  • "Give me back my hammer!"

  • Duh, silly me: correction, there is the whole "Locomotion" sequence, too. My point was only that this particular clip was not in the final product. It was edited out, and I don't know how it was gotten a hold of.

  • This clip is from a promotional DVD for Avid called "Room To Dream" which also features Lynch discussing the freedom that working in digital gives him.

  • amazing, as is everything Lynch does.

  • stupid

  • Stanley Kamel is in character in Inland Empire. The actressses portray hookers. What's the name of the actress on the far right? I think she's going places.

  • "I may be the sole pirate here with the use of only one hand."

  • Totally weird, but I loved it!

The chicks are awesome! I like Lynch's choice in women.

  • agreed. Mulholland Drive had a lot of beautiful women, even my friend, who was watching with me agrees.

Did anyone see inland empire, does this clip come in that film

  • no... it is not from the film, but the characters in this clip are characters from inland empire. I think this was meant as a test to see if the digital format of filmaking would work for his project.

  • I love this whole thing..and maybe its just me..well.hell.. I think it is just me..but I found the singing part beautiful for some reason.

  • This really reminded me of Rabbits! The singing and all the other nonsence. Loveable!

  • This is not from Inland Empire but contains characters from the film. This is the same set where the circus performers arrive for the hot dog cook out.

Consider this a terrific deleted scene. IL is an amazing movie and will satisfy people who love to mix movie watching with dreaming.

  • I've seen INLAND EMPIRE, and this isn't in it--but it looks like it might have been shot on one of the sets.

  • i'm not convinced this is lynch...

  • axx o nn

  • My hair stood on end when the girls eyes turned black...CREEEPY. Are these guys sitting outside waiting to spot some aliens or something ? SoCal (Inland Empire)and So.Arizona are UFO hotspots...

  • I agree with what's been said, this is very badly shot and badly cut, it's certainly not meant to go into a movie. David Lynch is way too good a director to let something like this slip through. Well, maybe another cut of it could go into his movie. But it'd really surprise me.

  • Now that I think of it, David Lynch should make a musical.

  • every single time! david continues to inspire and out do every one else in hollywood! GENIUS.

  • If anyone other than Lynch had made this it would be booed off the screen. Really. Booed.

  • I think many contemporary artists, at least since Warhol - maybe earlier, often make stuff that if removed from the context of their body of work - which includes their creation of their own public image - individual pieces would suck. Both the work and its creator her or himself are important in this age of mass mediated images.

  • ta wuena la wuea culiao

  • I was hooked until they started singing.

  • werd. Classic Lynch tension and then it became a crap music video :(

  • the girl on rights is my love

  • One word... *awwkwwaaaarrrrd*

  • What's Avid?

  • "The world leader in digital nonlinear media creation, management, and distribution solutions for the film, video, audio, animation, games, and broadcast industries."

  • Just a question...

What is this "Room to Dream" DVD?

  • A promo DVD for Avid products, with a this scene, the making of this scene and advertisings for the products

  • Classic Lynch atmosphere, love it! Freaks me out when her eyes turn black. It's not from Inland Empire though...

  • anyone know what film this is from?

  • That's not for you to say!

  • the end fucking wrecked the whole thing. That was soo stupid.

  • um dont anyone kill me for this comment......but....what the hell is the point of this..

  • God, I hope Gillianseed is right! I've have a few copies of this DVD for a while now and I cry when I watch it. But a part of me is at one with it because it does still have that Lynch feeling to it.

  • scrivo in Italiano perché.perchè no?!

  • This isn't an actual clip, he's pulling what he did with "Rabbits" off of MD. He wouldn't sell his vode out for promotion that easily, for "Pro Tools."

  • Just to know...

What did the girl say, in the first frase of the video, before the word "drink"?

  • "Would you give me a sip of your..."

  • I hope the film is a musical = that would be good

  • Absolute load of bollocks.

  • this vid is much greater, than you can figure. áááá

  • Today I was at a showing of Blue Velvet tonight at the L.A. Film Festival. Lynch showed up to present it. The DV versus film question came up. He very proudly proclaimed how much he loved DV and how he felt that film is "beautiful... but dead. a dinosuar." He went on to say, "DV is very liberating. It's so straightforward to use... and it has autofocus. DV is nowhere near the quality of film. I shoot on a Sony PD-150 and the quality is *terrible*..... and I LOVE it."

  • It's great he's using a DV camera. It's about the creativity not the gear. Only suggestion is the video look 29.97 produces. Converting it to 24p would make it look so much better (film like.)

  • well this is directed by lynch, no doubts...but what dvd is that you have? where did you find it? thanks

  • We could order this dvd on this website http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm? . But now, the DVD is no longer available. It was a commercial dvd for DigiDesign; it presented the Digidesign products... this scene was on the dvd because Lynch made it with their products

  • Wow! Thanks for posting this. Awesome - whether it's from IE or not.

  • it doesn't seem like david lynch directed this. but if it's a david lynch parody, i think it's great.

  • For the 999999th times, David Lynch directed it lol. I have the DVD and I saw the making of

  • though i liked the start, the singing was pointless

  • Ace!

  • maybe lynch is playing around with his directing style a bit.....i'm sure if it looks like "it was made by high school students, not a Golden Palm winner" he has done it on purpose! give the man a break and a chance....he is a golden palm winner for a reason you know.

oh and by the way i hope this is in IE.

  • I hope for the love of all on God's green earth this is not a scene from a David Lynch movie. It looks like it was made by high school students, not a Golden Palm winner!!!

  • Lynch directed it, but I hope too it's not a scene from IE.

  • this is not a scene form inland empire.. some directors, like lynch use to make little nonsense films just to see who it looks with DV... he was just testing... but not a scene form Inland Empire...

    ps: looks like Rabbits BTW...

  • This is maybe a scene from IE. Stanley Kamel & Kristen Kerr will play in IE, they speak about a circus, John Neff himself says this scene is maybe a scene from IE, ... a lot of thing like this shows this scene comes maybe IE from.

  • Masterpiece! Can't wait for Inland Empire.

  • What did he direct this scene for? "Inland Empire"? I hope not. It wasn't bad, but I'd expect more from him. Which is why I don't think David Lynch directed it, or if it is a scene from "Inland Empire" then of course it makes no sense. You can't watch one scene of any of David's movies and know what the movie is about. Most people sit thru an entire movie of his and still don't know what they've just seen.

  • http://www.objectif-cinema.com/article.php3?id_article=4047 (sorry, in french)

  • It's not nonsense. It Lynch's art increasing in power.

  • I recieve the DVD from digidesign and i can't believe this is an extract from "Inland Empire" ! it's so nonsense that it's a little pitiful. I think they are playing just for testing the light and the digital cameras ??

  • http://www.digidesign.com/news /details.cfm?story_id=3822

The DVD is free. It contains interviews of David Lynch and this scene (directed by David Lynch).

  • what is this? where did you get it from?
