@gregmanx Both 3ds max and Maya are used heavily in games development. Many studios use both. The honest answer would be you should be familiar with both. pick whichever one you wish to try to master but be familiar with both. You could also look at games studios in your area to see what they are using as local geographies will have preferences, usually based on access to talent etc.

@umar6419 if you're really age 17, you might not excaclty know what motion design is really about. It's not charachter animation or arch viz. Just a quick example: I'd love 3ds to have something like sweep nurbs (animatable) in C4D. and the Loft is far not the same. I dont even mention mograph thing. Check out vacancies, 80% of them requires C4D. And yeah, be a bit polite, I am older than you

I opened your channel and watched "3ds max lacks sticking subob " video and Laughed.... 1 days will Come in your life when you will solve this problem yourself in 3ds max if you keep using it...even with the older 3ds max version... @umar6419 I've been using 3dsmax since version 1.2, age of 16. and believe me there are pros and cons of this software. I prefer using both 3dsmax and c4d via fbx. A programmer friend of mine has also modified Epoly.dlo, so now vertices stick to subd, which is way far convenient, pretty much like in XSI, LW so on.Anyway, if you have something further to say please use pm. This conversation is off topic to video.

In Mechanical Design, AutoDesk falls way short of the competition such as Pro/ENGINEER, Creo, SolidWorks and Catia. Industrial Design is great with Maya but the competitors offer a much better solution that can be used to produce working drawings and manufacture the products. Free form modeling and Animations are ruled by the big 3 such as Maya, 3D Studio and SFX which are all owned by Autodesk, but I think most consumer products are made with competitor software.

@krezzinger Are you sure that all these competitors are 100% compatible with autodesk file formats? 99% companies and potential customers use software by Autodesk. Sure, I can draw and design in whatever I want, but if my files are not compatible with my customers' software, then I'm left with no customers.

Start up companies take loans out and usually pay later, Autodesk have something like this, pay later over, for small students yes expensive but if you can use Blender you can sell those models and buy Autodesk software...Blender is good to..
