Oh. A solar panel. Yea, I have my mini van's roof covered with Solar mirrors. I used to get 28 mpg on my Villager, but now I get about 34 mpg. Just leave your car outside in the sun, and let it charge.
I love priuses. I love seeing them on the road. I still think it one of the ugliest cars on the market. The honda insight is very similar looking but its not quite as ugly. from the front the insight looks almost like any other honda.
If it's under 30k..they've already won. The model S may look nice and be fully electric as well, but at just under 50k, they've already lost the attention of a lot of people.

To add some more (this is from Top Gear) they did a track test with a BMW M3 and a prius. The prius would drive around the track as fast as it could while the M3 just had to keep up the result the M3 got a rating of about 5mpg MORE then the prius because it's not the car that matters most but your driving style. The M3 has a 400hp engine and so doesn't need to rev up that much to keep up with the prius. You wanna save the planet buy a manual car and buy anything but a prius it's a scam FACT
thats true but i think that test was very bias...ive seen that test and i agree that they spent about the same amount of gas driving around the track but do some more of a real world test. such as give them 5 gallons of gas and put them in L.A. traffic and see which one goes the furtest...that would be more realistic.

you are 100% right no doubt about it the prius would win but the main reason I am against prius is because of the massive amount of oil they use just to transport the parts which adds up to a below average mpg I personally believe that you are better of buying a small European diesel car that would get very close to the mpg that a prius gets
its true that a diesel can produce as much mpg as a prius..but its not all about mpg... things like emissions and other stuff as well... also, i love top gear. i think its a great show but sometimes i hate how BIAS they are. if they dont like a certain car. they really make them look bad. even tho it has nothing to do with the car.(Example, american cars for the most part) it might be true and it might not that it took parts from al over the world to make the car but so does everycar out there.
yeah they do tend to get bias about cars they dislike but i did some research and they were telling the truth about the amount of oil used in transportation and plus don't forget about the environmental damage all batteries have but then again that can be said for all hybrids so I guess that one doesn't count
Hi there ppl I am obsessed with cars and would like to share some FACTS about the "lovely" prius. As you all know the prius is extremely cheap for a hybrid ever wonder why? well to make it cheap toyota buys the parts from all over the world (they even admit this in their old commercials) downside though is that it takes a lot of oil to transport the parts and that means that a prius spends as much oil in its expected life time as an SUV don't believe me do some research before you thumb me down

My God, I didn't think it was possible. This is truely amazing. Toyota actually managed to make this generation even UNGLIER than the last! Holy crap. I'll stick to driving my 5.7 HEMI. It doesnt look like an ass crack.
The Toyota Camry has a Coefficient of Drag of 0.28. Is 0.03 really that much of a difference for such an ass looking car? Why couldn't they just cut the drag on the Camry and work harder on making that a better Hybrid instead of this ugly thing?
Wow you are some driver, you must be smarter than everyone, official "real world" tests put your TDI at 38mpg combined and that's diesel... which I see in service all the time. I see a lot of delusional VW owners who think they are getting higher mileage, and higher resale unitl they realize the VW doesn't perform to expectations in either category.
Looks good, the features (like venting hot air when parked) are cool too. i hope the Insight competes well with this though, not because i hate toyota or anything, i just want to see more competition in this segment.
However, you get a nice quiet electric start. I have a small garage and starting up a regular gasoline car fills the room with exhaust. This will definitely solve that problem.

Four wonderful years with the Toyota Prius GII. Traded it in on the GIII. Toyota makes good cars. And, hello, I love the Prius.

I'd rather wait for the Tesla Model S. Modifying the Prius to the plug-in it should be would be as expensive and still less efficient.

There are so many idiots complaining about the battery.
Even most hydrogen cars will still use the BATTERY and its tech.
Hybrid Car-Battery packs are recycled.

"AMERICAN INGENUITY" still leads the world. I'm not talking about Detroit.
The best "AVAILABLE" fully electrical car in the world is the ROADSTER from TESLA MOTORS in California.
Range of 250 miles on a single charge.
Only 3 hours to fully recharge the batteries.
Speed 0~60 in 3.9 seconds
Body: Polymer Fiber stronger than steel.
They'll soon produce a family car, reducing the cost with massive production. They intend to always stay ahead of all competitiion.
It's on youtube.

high 55 for a manual TDI, thats what i get with mine, real life test (not like this 50mpg prius)
VW = C / Toyota = A...who made this rating..you ?...good for you, thats not an argument
Diesel is dirtier, diesel low sulfur about the same, biodiesel a lot better. I use Biodiesel B60 so im cleaner than a prius that runs on gas
Very cold weather?? never had problem, I am in canada and get -10 now, just make sure you have a good battery.
