  • Oh. A solar panel. Yea, I have my mini van's roof covered with Solar mirrors. I used to get 28 mpg on my Villager, but now I get about 34 mpg. Just leave your car outside in the sun, and let it charge.

  • yay prius yay cheaper road tax and saving the planet

  • only Gay drives Prius

  • @KatiushaVN4 GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • I love priuses. I love seeing them on the road. I still think it one of the ugliest cars on the market. The honda insight is very similar looking but its not quite as ugly. from the front the insight looks almost like any other honda.

  • Four wonderful years with the Toyota Prius GII. Traded it in on the GIII. Toyota makes good cars. And, hello, I love the Prius.

  • awesome car

  • I'd rather wait for the Tesla Model S. Modifying the Prius to the plug-in it should be would be as expensive and still less efficient.

  • If it's under 30k..they've already won. The model S may look nice and be fully electric as well, but at just under 50k, they've already lost the attention of a lot of people.

  • thats true but i think that test was very bias...ive seen that test and i agree that they spent about the same amount of gas driving around the track but do some more of a real world test. such as give them 5 gallons of gas and put them in L.A. traffic and see which one goes the furtest...that would be more realistic.

  • its true that a diesel can produce as much mpg as a prius..but its not all about mpg... things like emissions and other stuff as well... also, i love top gear. i think its a great show but sometimes i hate how BIAS they are. if they dont like a certain car. they really make them look bad. even tho it has nothing to do with the car.(Example, american cars for the most part) it might be true and it might not that it took parts from al over the world to make the car but so does everycar out there.

  • yeah they do tend to get bias about cars they dislike but i did some research and they were telling the truth about the amount of oil used in transportation and plus don't forget about the environmental damage all batteries have but then again that can be said for all hybrids so I guess that one doesn't count

  • may be its recyclable

  • (looks behind) Stop mocking me! STOP IT!!!

  • PRIUS IN SOUTH AMERICA?? :D

  • wowowwow, come on stop waste money oil company they will raising price hahaha,so don't buy save you'r money

  • GM needs to make a car exactly like the Prius with similar or better MPG/specifications and the exact competitive price.

  • they go out of business

  • There are so many idiots complaining about the battery.

Even most hydrogen cars will still use the BATTERY and its tech.

    Hybrid Car-Battery packs are recycled.

  • thats true

  • -Lithium Batteries: 3 to 5 years (500 cycles) Risk of thermal runaway. Risk of battery explosion.

-NEW Lithium-Titanate batteries have a life expectancy of 10 to 20 years. (6000 to 9000 cycles).

Lithium-Titanate batteries can be charged in 5 minutes.

Can operate at temperatures as low as -30°C and as high as +60°C. No risk of thermal runaway-explosion.

    Companies:

    Altairnano USA NanoSafe.

    Toshiba Japan SCIB.

(See also ZEBRA Swiss Batt. another efficient technology sodium/nickel chloride)

  • Nice Car - want one! :)

  • "AMERICAN INGENUITY" still leads the world. I'm not talking about Detroit.

The best "AVAILABLE" fully electrical car in the world is the ROADSTER from TESLA MOTORS in California.

Range of 250 miles on a single charge.

Only 3 hours to fully recharge the batteries.

    Speed 0~60 in 3.9 seconds

Body: Polymer Fiber stronger than steel.

They'll soon produce a family car, reducing the cost with massive production. They intend to always stay ahead of all competitiion.

    It's on youtube.

  • HONDA FTW

  • It is going in the right direction

  • The Toyota Camry has a Coefficient of Drag of 0.28. Is 0.03 really that much of a difference for such an ass looking car? Why couldn't they just cut the drag on the Camry and work harder on making that a better Hybrid instead of this ugly thing?

  • you think the camry is better looking than this?

  • Yes. I think a 4 door sedan looks better than a hatchback with an ass tumor.

  • Solar roof and all LED headlight.

Body like aluminum cut putting out.

    My worldly desires are tickled.

  • Dont believe the forums rumors too much, listen to the owners ;-) and dont be fooled by the prius hype.

I am waiting fo rthe Volt, I might get one if it live up to the hype

  • high 55 for a manual TDI, thats what i get with mine, real life test (not like this 50mpg prius)

VW = C / Toyota = A...who made this rating..you ?...good for you, thats not an argument

Diesel is dirtier, diesel low sulfur about the same, biodiesel a lot better. I use Biodiesel B60 so im cleaner than a prius that runs on gas

Very cold weather?? never had problem, I am in canada and get -10 now, just make sure you have a good battery.

  • Wow you are some driver, you must be smarter than everyone, official "real world" tests put your TDI at 38mpg combined and that's diesel... which I see in service all the time. I see a lot of delusional VW owners who think they are getting higher mileage, and higher resale unitl they realize the VW doesn't perform to expectations in either category.

  • Looks good, the features (like venting hot air when parked) are cool too. i hope the Insight competes well with this though, not because i hate toyota or anything, i just want to see more competition in this segment.

  • However, you get a nice quiet electric start. I have a small garage and starting up a regular gasoline car fills the room with exhaust. This will definitely solve that problem.

  • UHH, didn't the French 2CV get about the same mileage? and it was better looking!

  • 50mpg ??? A golf TDI can do 55mpg easy since 2001. WTF !!!

  • 134hp-100kw. i'm quite dissapointed, the expectations for this one was at least 150hp-112kw. :(

  • Very nice. The solar sun roof sounds excellent.

  • i wish they would just give us the electric cars back sometimes, it sucks we can't stop burning those gases without ruining the economy. -.-

  • what is the EV mode? is that like plugin? 50 mile range kinda stuff?

  • thanks for posting this. i'm excited about the solar sun roof.

  • Very cool way to combat hot air. I really like the direction that new cars are headed towards. Still can't afford them though.
