This movie took all my expectations (I initially thought it was going to be awesome, because of the recent announcements to re-release it in 3-D) and obliterated the fuck out of them, after that, I felt increasingly empty inside; I also had a bright vermillion-red face, bloodshot and tear-filled eyes, and a look of anger on my face, all three things I hadn't experienced since I saw "Avatar" for the first time.

@KyOkanagan no he actually got the whole Joseph Bruce Ismay story all wrong.... bruce did not leave on that lifeboat that day knowing that there were still women children on board that ship! in fact Edith Russel the oldest survivor on titanic (now dead) said on a recording "Mr Ismay saved my life that day and i have no doubt he saved many others aswell" so you see he either didn't know this or he did and just thought he'd make an extra couple MILLION! Pounds/Dollars by doing this.

I was involved in writing the script for the 1997 movie Titanic which James Cameron takes credit for writing. I know the background story and why Kate was asked to dye her hair red and the origin of the name of Rose who was not the name of a passenger onboard the original Titanic in 1912.

@sparklegirl19 I was discovered by Joe Elliott of Def Leppard at the age of 15 in '83. The character Rose takes her name for the song Bringin on the Heartbreak "broken Rose with laughin eyes". This song also inspired me to write the song Broken performed by Evanescence. Character Jack takes his name for the Union Jack. Labor Day weekend '83 I went on a cruise with family, friends, and many of Def Leppard's road crew including an unknown Kurt Cobain.

I had also befriended Tom Cruise about this time while involved with Michael Hutchence of INXS. It was Aussie Nicole Kidman's co-star in Dead Calm, Billy Zane who was also married to an Aussie actress, that I requested to be in the film.

Just a note, one of INXS backup singers was the New Zealander Jenny Morris and this is why Courtney Love claims to have lived in New Zealand. Courtney showed up abt late '84 want a part in Kurt Cobain's brainchild (Love Kills) Sid & Nancy. The title taken from Michael Hutchence side project "Speed Kills".

When I jumped down and turned to look up at the bridge a crew member ran across. I later found out they thought I was going to jump. This was inspiration behind Rose's suicide attempt of jumping off the bow. I was also a fan of Muhammad Ali and it was his quote "I'm King, King of the World" which was written into the script for Jack.

@littlebritain80 Keep in mind that it wasn't Jack that gave her the necklac but th fiancee she had in the film.Trying to forget Jack had nothing to do with it. I can't explain why she kept it for all those years but I believe that returning to titanic and telling her story gave her closure and I think throwing the necklace into the sea was her way of making peace with the past. Also she may have knew she was dying and didn't see the point in holding on to it.

Thank God for the Titanic. I know this sounds silly, but this film changed me for the absoloute better, and I don't think I could go a day without watching it. I was a very cold, un-emotional person before I watched the Titanic, but the first time I watched it, it made me so emotional. It made me learn how to feel. And I am so, so grateful for that.
