It's funny to see the people who would appear on this show. Like, I never would have thought I'd see Vincent Price on "Hollywood Squares," but I heard he was a frequent guest for awhile and enjoyed playing up his "menacing voice" while giving answers. That's just awesome!
@theatre4nothing The same way they were able to get Cass Elliot and other VERY famous musicians, singers, etc.. Famous people in those days liked to have fun and didn't mind appearing on TV. I mean stars like Janis Joplin. She was on a Tom Jones special and even sang a duet with him. Cass appeared on Johnny Cash's show twice and sang not only her current hits at those times but also duet with him. Stars weren't the stuck-up, over-rated, and over-priced brats that they are now & did GS's & etc..
@theatre4nothing This was a few years before she had her comeback with "Freeway Of Love" so she must have been going through a lull in her music career
I heard about this when I played a certain PC Game: Jumpstart 3rd Grade, where this show's title was messed with: "Pollywood Squares". And I saw a bit of this show in The Ring. This game show looks fun to watch, next to wheel of fortune.
oh jeez, the girl contestant has ferrah hair xD love it lmao gotta love paul lynde. my favorite thing he's said on this show was when the host asked him "when a man falls out of a boat, you yell "man over board!", so what do you yell when a woman falls out of a boat?" and paul said "full speed ahead" xD
I adore that Vincent Price is as clever and handsome as ever. What a devil. <3
I'm so sad that Game Show Network doesn't divide into a new & classic set of channels. I doubt anyone is going to see Hollywood Square on TV again, but it was fun to see Paul Lynde & the gang while it lasted.
Vincent Price not only was smart as can be, but he was one of the best original horror actors of his time! Scooby Doo was my favorite cartoon growing up, and my favorite person ever on there was Vincent Van Goul :) R.I.P Vincent Price Jr.
The future voice of Vincent Van Ghoul on the thirteen ghosts of Scooby Doo in the squares, nice! BTW, i'm the voice of Vincent Van Ghoul was of course Vincent Price.
Yeah that was pretty funny; kind of an ironic question that Vincent Price got about fictional detectives, considering in 1985 he do a voice for a cartoon about a fictional detective: Scooby Doo.
@tvtimetravel Actually Kenny Williams did announce one Goodson-Todman game show in the early days of television (I can't remember the title) according to "The Encyclopedia of TV Game Shows". And interestingly enough, about the only two Heatter-Quigley games he did not announce were "Temptation" and "The Magnificent Marble Machine" which were both hosted by Art James.
