Bowing is a sign of respect. Obama was showing respect to another country. Why did no one else do so? Because we are supposed to be the world's leader in negotiations and in foreign relations. Obama was representing us in the best possible way he could; by showing more respect than others did.
I believe it was in Saudi Arabia that he was escorted by the Saudi royal horses, the best in the world, and a very rare honor for any visitor. We show respect to them, and they show respect to us.
