Well, the thing is that sustainable houses don't need to be in isolated areas. It's just that these areas get hassled less in the experimental stages of this concept. Naturally, the government doesn't want you to be self sufficient so it's not in their best interests to be handling out zoning for this in urban areas.
take the pricniples to the modern city. urban planners and architects need to study biotecture if they're serious about revitilizing our planet or meeting any sort of "green" standard. Earthships are cuting edge tech.
I think it takes a certain personality type to live in remote places. I LOVE the concept of these houses, but also love going out and socializing regularly. Be great if the world was different and you could have both worlds.
I don't see why a lot of people don't like these buildings.... theres nothing wrong with them. I'm helping this guy build one in colorado and its pretty cool
you and major malfunction need to educate yourselves before opening your stupid mouths and talking about something you know nothing about. learn what earthships really are, then you can ridicule it all you want.
With all the fuss about global warming and lack of housing, it would make sense for the government to embrace this style of living. I suppose they don't want to lose all their revenue from taxing the cost of living.
probably because they finance themselves by selling earthship dvds.. therefore it would mean that they get less money in, if more people watch the video instead of buying it.. on the other hand, maybe the people who want to build an earthship, already find out about it via other means.
maybe it requires outside people unrelated to earthship biotecture - or maybe it just requires a lot of youtube video posts from people who have built an earthship for themselves. its hard to know what will tip this over the edge and into the public consciousness.
