Say what you will but as a drummer of 40 years I have to say that JB is my fav. I play jazz but love the raw power behind JB and there is something to say about straight up 4/4 rock. Readin the debates below...don't compare JB with Peart or anyone else. This guy influenced them all and it isn't right to compare later drummers who built on the JB foundation. Are there better guys?..sure but they are great because JB paved the way!

the main reason why Neil Peart has a bigger set, though, is because in alot of his songs (especially in the 80's) he started exploring new sounds to add to Geddys's keyboard 80's sounds. if you see live videos of Neil Peart in the 70's, he doesnt have a huge set, and around that time is when he composed alot of his songs that are very hard to play on the drums (EX: Tom Sawyer, La Villa Strangiato)

Ok...but the fact of the matter is they didn't...and JB DID. Many young drummers of the '80's and '90's idolized JB because he was so unique, not truly because he was the "best". People just throw that word out because its the "best" adjective of all time. Bottom line....JB is to rock drumming like (and I emphasize LIKE for all you freaks that will pick this apart), the Beatles are to rock and roll. And personally..I never really liked the Beatles, but I respect them.
