The eviction process is way too long. This can take up to 1 year depending on what the hearing says. It's ridiculous that tenants can not pay rent for more then half and year and just run away, and get bad credit and a slap in the face. You guys think all home owners are fat pigs living the life. When in reality most of them are hard working people just trying to make a living. Evictions should be followed by jail time for these criminal tenants.
My landlord is housing a tenant that's lived here for 2 years & refuses to find employment & pay rent. She's given him notices including unlawful detainer but he still persists, & now she's going into the red because of it. She hasn't taken it to court because of the legal expenses & also, her and her husband being immigrants from China don't trust the government will protect them. What are my options as a tenant? I fear they won't be able to pay their mortgage & the house will be foreclosed on.
