Paul is one of my ALL TIME favorite singers of all genres. That saying a lot from a native Texas country boy! I love blues, C & W, classic rock, &jazz. But until I watched Paul in 2007 stun all of us I *hated* opera. Those days are gone forever - opera has a beauty no other music does & it took Paul Potts to make me realize it. I'm one of those guys who isn't impressed by fame & fortune. I wouldn't waste my time meeting a music/sports/Hollywood "star" but I'd love to meet Paul & Julz.

It's really nice to see the comments of folks who appreciate the emotion he brings to his singing. It's true that he is like an Irish tenor but that isn't a negative thing as far as I'm concerned. I have sat and listened to his Nessun Dorma right after Pavoratti's and there is an obvious difference in their voices, but, and I think this is what matters, he is thrilling to listen to in his own right. Really a great story.

even now, after so many time from britrain's got talent, I still come to see his first performance. For crying out laud I'm a full grown man and every time I see that I almost cry. Opera is one of the best kinds of music to transmit emotion, I think, and he does it in such way.

I can only hope that his heart keeps pure, an umble man with a humble and great heart, so that his voice keep showing all that light to every one.

I have heard just about all the greats.

Great they are, but novoice connects up with me as does Paul.

I saw him Royal Albert Hall in Nov.

How much he had improved when he appeared at the Apollo almost 2 years earlier, and he was excellant then.

Paul goes after those notes and holds them.

Very crystal clear is his voice, with a sweetness.

Paul is a very rare talent. He is a working mans opera singer. There is nothing fancy or flashy, just raw emotion.

And his voice is more like an Irish tenor then a trained Italian opera tenor. But he sings from the heart. Just an amazing voice. Singers like Paul do not come around very often.

Count me in as a working man. While music intellectuals have an important place, their criticisms of P often miss the big point -performance impact.

A good 'Irish tenor' has a purity of tone & simple directness that wins your heart over from the first few bars.

I hope P keeps focused on these wonderful strengths rather than work on volume to fill an opera house with a booming voice etc. I particularly love his higher notes especially when he's relaxed/enjoying himself.

When I hear Paul Potts sing opera, I can hear imediately it is him. I think he has an own style of singing opera.

I'm also to say that with many tenors I couldn't or hardly tell which one of them is singing it.

I love Potts voice. Pavarotti had a deeper, almost seemingly effortless delivery and I think he lacked the incomparable outpouring of emotions that Lanza was famed for. Lanza was the most emotive tenor ever - #1 - I grew up hearing his voice. Potts' voice isn't the firing canon like Pavarotti, but yet he still delivers the goods! Love it. (Had his teeth fixed by the looks too!)

I adore Paul & his wife (even though I've never met them). Were I their personal friends, I would worry too about the stress of being on the road so much. So easy to get out of shape and gain weight. I would talk to them about having a personal trainer/nutritionist to travel with them.

Opera is theatre and any lead singer needs star quality - tall and handsome certainly helps land roles - but it is the voice that people are paying for and sometimes are cheated out of. Even Pavarotti was booed at LaScala, where they do not tolerate a poor performance.

Simon Cowell although an actor on a reality TV show knows his stuff, and I agree that often these shows put people on a pedestal for doing something others have already done. Free dental care in the UK doesn't mean you have better teeth. That just means you may or may not go to the dentist. You aren't losing any money if you don't use your dental. Unlike us Americans, if we don't choose to go, then we are just throwing our money away. So we go every 6 months for our cleaning. Might as well if you are paying for it. That's why we can eat sugars and fats all the time and still have great teeth.
