@Rahan482 This guy is probably one of the best guitarist on youtube, moreover, open your mind a bit, you'll hear more drop tuning to more music you listen to, stop being so shut off.
Wish I had a chance to go check all of this out! our booth was packed the whole time. Thanks for covering this guys, now I can at least live vicariously. See you all next year!
@Mark101vdg that is the story of my life... I have the worst memory, so yeah you would probably hear me play around 4-5 different riffs throughout the show haha
the profiling amp is fucking awesome, you can get a quite exact and authentic copy of every amps sound. you can basically go to a shop and steal the sound of every amp there!
The Jet City amp is a Cornford MKII 50. I called this a few days ago.(see Vai Legacy III video)
To buy a Cornford MKII in North America costs $4000
Thats why $2500 is actually a good price (relatively speaking)
For those who are in the know and want a top of the line Cornford I would suggest placing an order now.Since I doubt these will generate enough interest for the "Jet City Crowd" to stay around.
This is Guthrie Govans fav amp (he does public appearances with Suhr amps)
I didnt really like the sound of the Engl he was playing through, It could have just been the audio on the camera though. The Bogner sounded nice. The Jet City also had very nice tone to it. The Budda kinda sounded muffled to me....But over all. The one with the best tone... is the Bugera. In my own opinion... it is amazing!
@djentbusiness I agree. But i am as well against overusing mids. People speak about mids, but fuck up using them anyway. And i certainly do not want a djent sound. Turn up your gain!
So, is the kemper a gimmick or does it sound legit? First time I have heard heavy sounds with the kemper, but it's hard to tell from the video if it lives up to the hype.
The Uberschall kicks so much ass. I wish they didn't cost an arm and a leg though. You can practically get a Mesa Triple Recto AND a 4x12 for the price of just the Twin Jet head.
The Bugera is intense too. I wish I could go to NAMM (though I'm nowhere near the guitarist any of these guys are).
I wish the trend of down tuned guitars in metal would just die! People claim that it sounds heavier but to me it just sounds muddy and generic. Standard tuning with 6 strings sounds so much better.
I wasn't really feeling the guy playing the Bogner amps playing, Or atleast his go to riffa, Amp has a nice sound to it, hell alluv em do I just kinda got bored with all the stompish sludging guitarist
Why aren't you demoing marshall amps? I know you've done a video on the jvm410h, but being that marshall is one of the biggest amp manufacturers, shouldn't you at least do some time with those amps?
Hey Ola its just wonderful that youre taking us with to the NAMM via Youtube. Thank you so much for your videos, really inspiring regarding to the service you do to other "brothers in arms". :)
I was really impressed by the Kemper profiling amp. Ola, how do you think it compares to the Axe FX 2 in terms of harmonic tube distortion and picking dynamics?
I read a guy saying OLA was a mix master and could make any amp sound good in a mix..none of these are in a mix, mixed or close miked and the amps still sound exactly the way he wants them to..a good guitarist that knows how to tweak knobs
Not every amp sounds good in a mix, try playing a solid-state Crate in a band where the other guitarist is playing a Mesa Boogie...you can tweak the knobs until you're blue in the face, but it won't make a difference! Knowing how to set tones in a mix is an art form, why do you think so many youtube videos sound like shit? And really, just about any high end tube amp sounds good when being played by itself.
@ESPsandEmgs I never said otherwise, a shitty amp is a shitty amp..but I've heard a lot of high end tube amps being played on their own and not sounding as good as they could because whoever was playing them didn't know how to tweak it..
Usually it has WAY more to do with the fact that 90% of people posting youtube videos don't mic up the amps...at all...let alone finding a mic position that works for that particular amp and speaker combo. Also the fact that YouTube compresses its files means that most intricacies of amps are lost to the viewer.
