@MattTheSaiyan National Eastern Western (Bought out by Delta) Continental (Bought out by United) Pan Am Allegheny (Now US Air) Ozark North Central Braniff TWA (Bought out by American Airlines) Midway Those are some I could come up.
I also remember seeing this gentleman appearing on a variety of tv sitcoms and drama shows as well. Usually as a character actor (parent, neighbor, repairman, etc). I may be wrong, but I think he was one of the regulars in "Archie Bunker's Place" back in the 1980s. I do miss those days. Like "Ajax", tv was much cleaner then.
This commercial sounds, in a way, nice, but also does not explain anything long about the product , as "Cleans faster than the next leading cleaning brand."
I still use Ajax for Dishes (only it's now Ajax Dishwashing Liquid)...still good stuff, "professionally speaking!" Sad now that the dishwashing liquid and the original Ajax Cleanser are the only Ajax products still readily available in the stores...
I remember him well. Also appeared on various tv shows. A positive impact his Ajax commercials made on me was where he would rub a dish, make it squeak and state "That's how a clean dish sounds!" I was 8 years old then, am in my 40s now and I always test my dishes this way after washing them to make sure they're clean. TV does make an impact on kids. Thanks, and rest in God's peace, Eugene.
*LOL* I remember those commercials too. Of course you know any wet dish will squeek when it is wet and you rub it wheter you use Ajax or not *LOL* But i know what you mean about the commercial sticking with you all these years
Y'know, if you're this guy's age and washing dishes for a living then either the economy REALLY has hit the skids or there is something very wrong here.
I recently saw Eugene Roche in Cotton Comes to Harlem last week.

I used to work with a guy 65 plus who washed dishes at restaurant. Busy restaurant.

I wonder how many airlines have gone defunct since this commercial was uploaded back in that unlikable year of 2006.

Eugene Roche was a great character actor, on TV loads during the 70s. This, however, was his meal ticket.

@airdriver You figure he owns the place, but is a hands on manager, checking on every detail including the cleanliness of the dishes.

The late, great Eugene Roche (1928-2004) also
played Archie Bunker's friend Pinky Peterson.
