  • This song is one of the reasons why I prefer old PT to the new stuff. It's all excellent though.

  • Steven had a mastertape with this one

and he didn´t leave it in a cab,,, thanks god

  • a freekin modern masterpiece!!

  • P>E>R>F>E>C>T.

  • Even old Porcupine Tree is awesome. Love this song. :)

  • Hilarious to see such hateful comments for a video with such a peaceful song.

  • The lyrics remind me of Genesis's use of lyrical imagery, except not through pseudo mythological parading. This feels much more natural in comparison.

  • @LMMEjsmith lolwut

  • @RaDiCaLRyAn69 lol, of course i mean the band, not the book Genesis. look up the lyrics to Supper's Ready, or practically anything from the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway album, or the lyrics to the Firth of Fifth. Each contains imagery of scenery, animals, greek mythology, and parades them in a grand manner, almost forcing them onto the listener. This just lets it happen. Probably has a lot to do with the vocal style differences between Steven Wilson and Peter Gabriel.

  • I have forgotten. I LOVE PORCUPINE TREE. Maybe there are strange people like 21wakko12 who would say I am gay. And I would say: "For Porcupine Tree? Hm maybe!!!" I would like to see them on "Burg Herzberg Festival" in Germany.

  • "Do something with your lives." And that comes from a Pokemon fan. LOL

  • @martinfischer11 HAHA NICE ONE

  • Damn! These niggas just got trolled!!! Ya'll got played like a damn fiddle! Nice knowing ya'll, but you guys really need to get out and do something with your lives.

    PEACE! XD

    TROLL FTW!!! LOL!!!

  • wow ! 21wakko12 really needed a slap from his mother for being such an insolent little bitch. All these over-indulgent parents !

  • Porcupine Tree, truly one of the greats. Their music hits you on a deep level. Long live Steven Wilson!

  • Sentimental and fadeawy are some favorites

Give me more of what are your favorites

  • @paulsbreakfast Blackfield and No Man I discovered.. The other ones, nope.. I am still learning and can't say I have listened to everything he ever made.. but it is as if everything he touches, turns to gold.. :) Even the covers he did, which i accidentally came across, are far better than the originals.. And being an audio engineer... How does someone turn from a geek (no offense to anyone working in that area) into a God? :)

  • @paulsbreakfast they just make you wonder if you were really listening to music until now. they redefine the meaning of the word MUSIC...

  • when i go back 2 orcas island i'm going 2 play this for the fish. anybody going to do that?

  • I am just discovering them.. I am 34, a female and I just cannot get enough of anything that they have made.. I listen to every song for 3-4 times in a row to first feel the guitar, than the drums, the lyrics, the bass.. everything separately and than everything together.. And I cry and laugh, I am amazed, surprised, confused, regretting how is that I have not found them before.. I love them.. Everything about them..

  • @nikeja They've been one of my favorites for a while, but I feel the same way while listening to them as well :)

  • @19Labrie63 it's a never-ending pure love for music..

  • @nikeja You know it, do you enjoy any other ambient or prog rock groups?

  • @19Labrie63 well, yes... i don;t have all time favorite band or something.. I mean it used to be Pink Floyd, but it is slowly being replaced by PT :) not yet, though.. Anyway, i love guitars.. any form, any place, any time.. and I can go trippin' to black metal and to a soft rock thingy... but, i do like Jethro Tool, Genesis, Emerson.. And from the newer progressive rockers.. Muse is by far, again, by far one of the best in the industry.

  • @nikeja Nice, black metal is definitely in my taste, so's 70's prog . Especially Rush and Yes. I've just discovered a 70's prog band called Trettioariga Kriget, recommended. I like old Muse, I'm not a fan of their new stuff though, other new-(ish) prog bands I enjoy are early Dream Theater, Opeth, Isis, Nachtmystium, Beardfish, Wolves in the Throne Room, Ayreon, Spock's Beard, Anekdoten etc.

    and of course PT!

  • @19Labrie63 yup, totally me.. Opeth, Dream Theater, Ayreon, Anekdoten, Nachtmystium - yes, please. :) the other ones you mention, never heard, honestly. :) Blind Guardian is also there.. and so many more.. i think we should continue this somewhere else.. :)

  • @nikeja Porcupine Tree is the greatest band of all times and they are greatly underrated.

  • @bauer444 correct

  • @nikeja 34 and female - check. Hair Color? Height?

  • @nikeja Than maybe you can taste Riverside and Blackfield. I think you also will enjoy them ;)

  • Just heard for the first time this special band today...(Through *Lazarus*). I did not know there are any (rather new) prog rock band's playing in the 21st century! Great discover, for sure!! Fantastic to hear some *70's sound* again in the 21st! As not being an Englishman, they should deserve an international status***Great!

  • @ludo281160 I recommend you go to prog archives if you wanna find more

  • @ludo281160

I felt like a kid in a candyshop when I discovered this band ~5 years ago :). There are definite and obvious classic prog/psychadelic influences that Steven Wilson himself admits to. Being a fan of the 70's psych/prog bands that's fine with me... but PT (and many of SW's other projects and collaborations) bring the genre to a new level of genius as they increase in popularity worldwide.

  • They played this last night at the Royal Albert Hall. It was spectacular.

  • Wow they actually fucking played it!!!!! 3 months ago i wished for this song on this very page in the comments, and it actually came true. Porcupine Tree played "Small Fish" at Radio City music hall and it was so beautiful.

  • I want to be where is picture was drawn/taken.

  • @iasfdglai kind of sad isn't it? half of us says, "It might be drawn" as if to suggest it cant be somewhere on this planet :P ... looks like a real pic to me, if you find out where it is I'll come hang out a while.

  • Great band! one of my favorites

  • @21wakko12 Gay? So like, their music is more refined and emotional? Yeah i guess they are a gay Opeth then.

  • I dont care if its Opeth or Porcupine Tree or Metallica or whatever....I listen to good music and I feel Porcupine tree is pretty good.....and yes.....Plz dont mention Justin Beiber in an awesome video like this.....Cheers :)

  • @papan1990 you just mentioned him and ruined the video for me. thanks! joking.. obviously. Nothing can ruin this song, it's AMAZING.

  • @papan1990 wtf"# you just mentioned bieber by yourself when i had happily forgot about that clown totally and now you remainded me again.

  • @suzy1991swe oops my bad...

  • Wow, this is great. I love the Tree.

  • Id like to think of this song as an example of Descarte´s Solipsism... you know... everything arround you is born from your mind... Small Fish dies... and the whole know reality dissapears...

...at least that is what the small fish sees xD

  • One of my favorite guitar solos of all time. Porcupine Tree should play this track at Radio City in September (one can dream).

  • @HATECREWrulz123

WOO! im going to that show. radio city music hall?

and is ur username based from COBHC?

  • @JaskaJunior Got my tickets for Radio City back in March. haha. and yes it is. I used to be really big into COB, but their albums after Follow the Reaper are eh.

  • @HATECREWrulz123 your one very lucky man , that show is going to be epic, there going to play all the old 90's stuff im so pist i cant go im from chicago, they played here recently and recorede the entire incident which was completly awesome because i was right in front of s.w.! Enjoy man im so jelous!

  • @PuReNiRvANA1 I actually just met Steven Wilson tonight at the Insurgentes Premiere. My brother and I were trembling so much. lol

  • @HATECREWrulz123 What a terrific honor. Steve is a special musician for our time. I'm attending PT at Radio City Music Hall on Friday. Can't wait. Great job, bro!

  • @JaskaJunior your one very lucky man , that show is going to be epic, there going to play all the old 90's stuff im so pist i cant go im from chicago, they played here recently and recorede the entire incident which was completly awesome because i was right in front of s.w.! Enjoy man im so jelous!

  • @PuReNiRvANA1 wait.......are u a blackhawks fan?

  • absolutely the best band you've never heard of! great solo on this!

  • Haha, or does Opeth sound like Porcupine Tree? Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree produced 3 of Opeth's albums: Blackwater Park, Damnation and Deliverance and have toured with Opeth internationally on 2 major tours. Opeth and Porcupine Tree are actually great friends and big influences on each other.

I actually have a signed copy of Damnation on Vinyl with all of Opeth and Steven Wilson all signed at the same time while on the same bus after playing a show in DC.

  • @21wakko12 Piss off you little shit!

  • Comment removed

  • @21wakko12 Woah there, asshole. It's not my fault the band sucks...

  • @21wakko12 Well Mikael Åkerfeldt (frontman in Opeth) is actually a fan of Porcupine Tree. He has also said that Steven Wilson is a genius when it comes to music.

  • Steven Wilson produced Opeth

  • @KinkyOnkel32 Steven Wilson also produced a few of Opeth best albums;)

  • @KinkyOnkel32 Oh, well, I guess I was wrong then. And now that I think about it the band is actually pretty good... also you're gay... and I lied about the band; it sucks...

  • @21wakko12 People only talk about things they have alot experiences in so...

  • @21wakko12 Spelled alot wrong. Ok. But out of your mouth only come things like: dumbass, fuck, gay and so on. English is not my mother language you dumbass :) So try to talk with me in german than we will see who has to shut the fuck up. And plese count what I spelled wrong again. I love it. It shows us that you are very intelligent.

  • @martinfischer11 Though I agree that exhibiting your grammatical errors displays my superior intelligence, I must respectfully counter by saying that I very well can insult you in German. For example, "du bist hässlich" means you're ugly. Don't fuck with people who can use google translator, dumbass. Also, you spelled "plese" wrong...

  • @21wakko12 You bore me. Couldnt you find something mor creative than "Du bist hässlich." The last time I used google translator was... I cant remember. I know you need to be fucked but I cant do it for you sorry. Ach ja. "Niveau ist keine Hautcreme." Versuch das doch mal zu übersetzen und in den richtigen Kontext zu bringen, dann sprechen wir uns wieder. Im out.

  • @martinfischer11 You spelled "I'm" wrong at the end of your argument. This misspelling questions your credibility as a writer and, therefore, invalidates your remarks. Ultimately, you present yourself to be stupid and gay. I'm done.

    :D

  • @21wakko12 you present yourself as a nigger. your point?

  • @21wakko12 I have come to the conclusion that bands that can't make sad music are, in the end, homophobic. They are so insecure with themselves that they can't sit in a room with other dudes and make a sad song. Just because it's sad doesn't mean it's gay.

Oh and i would like to mention that Opeth wouldn't be where they are if it wasn't for Steven Wilson, look it up you'll see what i'm talking about.

  • @21wakko12 Oh that's funny, because you can't even spell you're.

  • @beefjirky Doesn't change the fact that you're an unlikable wierdo that masturbates to his own mother...

  • @21wakko12 Why don't you get off the internet and go play yugioh some more you stupid ass beaner.

  • @beefjirky Nope, I'd rather go back to my highly prestigious college... you however could go right ahead and play yugioh and make racist remarks as you please. Have fun. Oh, and remember that a beaner goes to a better school than you do.

    :D

  • @21wakko12 Ive never heard that someone becomes gay because he cant spell in the right way and to translate my german post overcharged you. I pity on you. You seem to be a frustrated small child. Dont stop to count what I spelled wrong that seems to be the only activity which makes you happy. You can only affront others you poor little child. Go and play pokemon or practice using google translator. I guess that you look at first in wikipedia before you write words like credibility :.D

  • @21wakko12 The only thing that is gay here is you

  • @21wakko12 Do us all a favour and shut the fuck up?

  • @TheRythmestick But then how else would people know of Porcupine Tree's lack of quality? The people have a right to now, damn it!

  • @21wakko12 Actually its not a lack of quality, everyone has there own opinion dumbass. And if you think its a crap song, why the hell would you comment on it????

  • @TheRythmestick You're just trying to get in the way of my freedom of speech, man! Fuck you! lol

  • @21wakko12 Mate I dont give a flying fuck. your the twat here for commenting on a video that you don't like. Whats the actual point? Explain, and dont say people should know how much they suck dick. BECAUSE EVERYONE HAS THERE OWN LIKES/DISLKES

  • @21wakko12 What exactly is your problem with Porcupine Tree?

Why all the anger and general douchebaggery?

  • @21wakko12 Offending Porcupine Tree is offending Opeth.

  • There are poor songwriters in every genre of music. It tends to happen later on, when cliches come.....

  • esta es otra version de la del upthe downstairs??

  • totally calming and relaxing from start to finish....i just love PT:)

  • gracias por subirlas ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ muuuuuakkkkk

  • What a beutiful melodic tune this band has got to be one of the best bands in the world along with the pioneers Floyd genesis Yes.

  • reminds me pink floyd

  • THIS IS EXACTLY LIKE I PICtURED THIS SONG Thanx !!!!

  • wonderful song !

Porcupine Tree are my favorite band this days ...

    they create melancholic progressive/psychedelic rock

and Steven's voice is AMAZING !!! the lines are just wonderful,

I taking a lot inspiration from their music.

  • apocalyptic surely fits the mood of this musik \m/

  • beautiful bravo

  • why are there onlyyy 593 views ='[

  • because ppl are stupid and like only rapmusic where tough guys tell about the millions of girls they've had and where sluts show their boobs and so on - no one likes good music... sad :(

  • @Insektoid There's intelligent rap, too. Porcupine Tree's "Fear of a Blank Planet" pays direct homage to a rap album. (Fear of a Black Planet by Public Enemy)

Try Dessa, Sadistik, or Atmosphere. You might like them.

  • you sure are right - i never said that rap was generally bad or something but most of the popular music is complete rubbish and at the moment rap is very popular so lots of ppl try to sell cds with sex and stupid lyrics - but i will listen to dessa, sadistik and atmosphere thx 4 that :)

  • don't forget the last emporer and zack de la rocha

  • @Insektoid but is always good to find people like you that enjoy good music

    cheers

  • @Insektoid ah, dont be sad! main thing is that YOU have discovered that music... -when other people dont want to listen to "good music" ...dann ist das eben so, pech gehabt.

everybody searches for music which he is satisfied with.

i love ppt! one of the gratest bands ever, and i'm totally satisfied with em, no matter what other people hear.

...uh, and image: suddenly all these gangsters would listen to ppt! horrible, they wouldnt appreciate it

  • @popolalasusububu omg yes! that would be worse than it is now :) ...dann ist das besser nicht so ;)

  • @tel8675309RB there are 22,449 now :D glad to see the smaller less played songs are getting played :)

  • so atmospheric...paints an apocalyptic picture in my mind...so dream like..gives me the shivers

  • Beautiful song
