I have two of those guns on your table, the Maverick 88 and a Mosin. Both great guns. Cheap, cheap to shoot, reliable, durable. What's not to like? You should get a 18.5 barrel for your Maverick though, makes it way more maneuverable in a house and quicker to draw up to your shoulder. Great video, subbed!

Your should always own atleast 3 hand guns one in 9mm, 40s&w, and 45. and should have enough ammo to start with. but you "Main" one should be what ever the caliber your local law enforcement uses.

Which i happen to think is a shitty round >in my opinion<, now that can be different for people and i accept that based off of the fact that if i shoot someone in the head no matter what round I'm using, their going to die. Its when i shoot someone in the leg or stomach or chest that matters. I need my bullet to kill or do a ton of damage no matter where i hit which in a rushed situation i can't take my time.
@XGDRabidPanda Seeing that ammo commonality isn't an issue for me because i reload all of my ammo, the 45 ACP is my choice. Its what i shoot in competition, its what I'm used to, and it will blow the fuck out of whatever it hits. Now bigger isn't always better. I choose the 223 over the 308 because i know with the bullets i reload they are going to tumble a ton when they hit something, and i will be able to carry more ammo on me and get more shots off faster and more accurately.

I am just starting out...better late than never. I have chosen a Glock 17, but I'm also thinking about buying a .22 hand gun and rifle combo just because I can stock up on 5000 rounds for under a $200. and there are so many used .22's on the market. I know this is a modest setup that a lot of people will laugh at but, I figure with a low budget having two of the most common rounds is a good start. Does my thinking make sense? Since this is all new to me any advice would be appreciated.
@rubymickey Absolutely, 9mm and .22 are extremely useful rounds and 2 of the best SHTF rounds to have, u might also want to think about getting a rifle in .223 as well

@Survivalvideos1 Mosins are great rifles but they're not 30.06, they're closer to a .308 balisticly speaking. There are some people who make vids calling the Mosin a "$100 30.06" but don't listen to them, they don't know what they're talking about, the only similarity is that they're both .30 caliber bullets but the similarities end there. But if u like the .308 cartridge you'll like the Mosin, because they are virtually identical rounds balisticly

People tend to get really caught up with having a ton of firearms, and a ton of ammo, which is GREAT. But oftentimes they neglect getting any range time, and when the SHTF they're be overarmed and underprepared.
My back yard is my gun range and I shoot my guns DAILY. In my eyes, the best weapons are the cheapest to own, shoot and repair. With the cheapest, most available ammo. .22, 12gauge, 7.62x39/54r, 9mm.

Another thing I like is that you mentioned location. I am 24 years old, and there are a lot of downsides to living the rural life at my age. That said, I wouldn't trade my 7 1/2 acres for any amount of clubs, parties or social gatherings.

I live and work in the Chicago area where my SHTF arsenal consists of a 12Ga. H&R pump, a 9mm Hipoint carbine, a 9mm. Hipoint C-9 pistol, and a Browning .22 Buckmark. These are the weapons I trust as the path to my rural Tn. ARK, where I intend to be in 7 months for good, and the balance of my arsenal, and ammo resides.

@legion29er I got nothing against pistols, I actually perfer pistols to long guns for most tasks, but in a bad situation something along the lines of SHTF, a rifle would under most circumstances, be the perfered firearm, and a pistol would serve the same purpose it does in the military which is as a sidearm to be employeed when and if your rifle goes down or runs dry.
@legion29er Understood, however, I didn't say "JUST" a way to a rifle, but "IS a path to the long gun" which strategically gives you the opportunity to reach out and touch someone at much greater distances. Living in the Chicago area, where concealed carry doesn't exist for private citizens, and carrying a long gun will surely result in arrest, I've often carried a .38 snub I've become quite good with, because it's the best option I've available, and no messy incriminating casings left behind.
Good points throughout - one thing people need to know is that without firearms, all their preparations are in vain. Pillagers/criminals will have guns/weapons and if you do not, you WILL be a victim.
I live in Illinois, about 100 miles from Chicago (and still too close!) and that city has left law abiding citizens defenseless for generations, but criminals have had guns, and they have used them!
Also, the point about the family knowing where and how to use them is also key.

Equipment is very important, but to hear you also have a plan and a rally point in such an event that might require one is very good. You should have a general assessment of the materials/supplies that are in the backup location. A basic cache would also be a good idea, keep it simple. Keeping your head in a SHTF situation is the best weapon in any arsenal!
I think you have a great start for shtf defense. I get the idea. you're not talking about a burglar coming into your home. More like an invasion of some type where the need for hiding out is going to needed.
The only add on I would suggest would be a "silent" distance weapon for hunting or tactical purposes. I.E. a crossbow or bow.
I personally think christians should prepare for tribulation times. I certainly don't want to accept the mark of th beast.

The firearms and other gear u see in the vid is not the extent of my collection, just some examples of what to look for. I do actually have a crossbow for hunting, but it seemed unnessecary to have that in the vid as well since what I was saying was the point of the vid, the firearms and gear were just eye candy. I agree that a long gun is a great weapon. I just find it hard to believe that anyone would think that it is acceptable for personal or home defense. In my personal opinion a pistol will work perfectly in the case of home defense. I don't think that carrying a long gun for personal defense is really an option...too big. Especially when a long gun is meant to reach out and touch someone...how can you "reach out" 100 yards in defense? Is the other person shooting a rocket launcher?

This is really similar to our SHTF weapons. Fewer pistols and throw in a 357 revolver. But AK/Mosin/Mossberg are all great survival weapons and affordable enough to stock up. Good stuff.

There are some people who make vids calling the Mosin a "$100 30.06" but don't listen to them, they don't know what they're talking about, the only similarity is that they're both .30 caliber bullets but the similarities end there. This is an EXCELLENT SHTF video.
People tend to get really caught up with having a ton of firearms, and a ton of ammo, which is GREAT. But oftentimes they neglect getting any range time, and when the SHTF they're be overarmed and underprepared.
My back yard is my gun range and I shoot my guns DAILY. In my eyes, the best weapons are the cheapest to own, shoot and repair. With the cheapest, most available ammo. .22, 12gauge, 7.62x39/54r, 9mm.

Another thing I like is that you mentioned location. I am 24 years old, and there are a lot of downsides to living the rural life at my age. That said, I wouldn't trade my 7 1/2 acres for any amount of clubs, parties or social gatherings.

Great video. Nice little aresenal. I like the the fact that you stress to be armed ALWAYS, and that that the handgun IS a path to the long gun. I understand multiple dwellings. I live and work in the Chicago area where my SHTF arsenal consists of a 12Ga. H&R pump, a 9mm Hipoint carbine, a 9mm. Hipoint C-9 pistol, and a Browning .22 Buckmark. These are the weapons I trust as the path to my rural Tn. ARK, where I intend to be in 7 months for good, and the balance of my arsenal, and ammo resides.

@legion29er I got nothing against pistols, I actually perfer pistols to long guns for most tasks, but in a bad situation something along the lines of SHTF, a rifle would under most circumstances, be the perfered firearm, and a pistol would serve the same purpose it does in the military which is as a sidearm to be employeed when and if your rifle goes down or runs dry.

@legion29er Understood, however, I didn't say "JUST" a way to a rifle, but "IS a path to the long gun" which strategically gives you the opportunity to reach out and touch someone at much greater distances. Living in the Chicago area, where concealed carry doesn't exist for private citizens, and carrying a long gun will surely result in arrest, I've often carried a .38 snub I've become quite good with, because it's the best option I've available, and no messy incriminating casings left behind.

Good points throughout - one thing people need to know is that without firearms, all their preparations are in vain. Pillagers/criminals will have guns/weapons and if you do not, you WILL be a victim.
I live in Illinois, about 100 miles from Chicago (and still too close!) and that city has left law abiding citizens defenseless for generations, but criminals have had guns, and they have used them!
Also, the point about the family knowing where and how to use them is also key.

Equipment is very important, but to hear you also have a plan and a rally point in such an event that might require one is very good. You should have a general assessment of the materials/supplies that are in the backup location. A basic cache would also be a good idea, keep it simple. Keeping your head in a SHTF situation is the best weapon in any arsenal!

I think you have a great start for shtf defense. I get the idea. you're not talking about a burglar coming into your home. More like an invasion of some type where the need for hiding out is going to needed.
The only add on I would suggest would be a "silent" distance weapon for hunting or tactical purposes. I.E. a crossbow or bow.
I personally think christians should prepare for tribulation times. I certainly don't want to accept the mark of th beast.

The firearms and other gear u see in the vid is not the extent of my collection, just some examples of what to look for. I do actually have a crossbow for hunting, but it seemed unnessecary to have that in the vid as well since what I was saying was the point of the vid, the firearms and gear were just eye candy. I agree that a long gun is a great weapon. I just find it hard to believe that anyone would think that it is acceptable for personal or home defense. In my personal opinion a pistol will work perfectly in the case of home defense. I don't think that carrying a long gun for personal defense is really an option...too big. Especially when a long gun is meant to reach out and touch someone...how can you "reach out" 100 yards in defense? Is the other person shooting a rocket launcher?

This is really similar to our SHTF weapons. Fewer pistols and throw in a 357 revolver. But AK/Mosin/Mossberg are all great survival weapons and affordable enough to stock up. Good stuff.

You are one of the few people that really get it. Its not just about guns, but the ability to use them and be comfortable with them, as well as a secondary more defensible location.
BUT, I'd prefer to have my Mosin M44 with the bayonet already attached (2 for 1 buddy) .

I have watched this video many times and almost did a RE video with my thoughts but you do a great job..The only thing i do not understnad is why not a 20'' barrel on your shotgun? you can reach out and touch birds with long range rounds/nitro and makes it a force to be had in close area's?
