Actually. The red uniform was created in 1645, before the act of unity. Great Britain did not exist until after 1707. Scottish regiments dont wear the red coat although you will see individual Scotsmen in English (British) regiments. So, although now the Red Coat is seen as a wholelly British uniform, it is infact from the English Military in origin. Both England and Scotland have thier own regiments, but they all serve under the British flag. Hope this helps :)

I wish I didn't know all of the stuff I know about the union that I did. Then I would love it instead of having a boiling hatred for it. Infact it makes it's self look stupid. Free movement, free trade, peace and prosperity. Thats what we want and not the European Union that quite frankly ruins this country. I like Europe but not the union.
I like the vid though, especailly when they played lord of the dance :D
Well I am proud to. And well you can argue that we are part of the european union but not part of the continent. I am proud to be british not european because it makes us see to widely spread not a great british empire.
No he visited Europe Britain being part of Europe and all. also that's the Welsh Grenadier guards and The house hold cavalry (Life guards) Sorry I'm proud of the Union to and your making it look stupid.
Being picked up on points by a guy that can't even use the correct "too".
Welsh, they're still British, not sure if you're aware that as Britain is part of Europe, Wales is a part of Britain.
And Britain is only a part of Europe to fit it in somewhere geographically, we are not European and he didn't see this video in Europe, he saw it in Britain.
Great Britain is in Europe we are in the European Union were part of the same continent nothing can change that it would be like saying Tasmania isn't part of Australia because there's a bit of water in between the 2. Also the correct name of the regiment marching is the Welsh Guard not the Grenadier guard. And if he saw the video in Britain he saw it in Europe
Haha, I love the fact that so many people are shouting "Grenadier Guards, Grenadier Guards"...use your eyes...five button spacing on the Tunic and white-green-white plumes on the left of Bearskins...that's the Welsh Guards! Just as good a regiment, does the same scarlet-green rotation as the Gren Gds. The band playing is that of the Life Guards, spends half it's time as an armoured Recce regiment and half on London Duties.
Technically speaking they are because it seems as if the Regiment on parade here is that of the Grenadier Guards, an English Regiment, give or take. Although 'British' should be the term used but people from outside the Isles get pretty confused.
By the way, to any people from the US who are watching, this is called the changing of the guard and one thing that annoys me about people from the US is how they call Britain 'Europe', its a whole fucking continent try and be a bit more specific please!
The Scots Guards are older. Being formed in 1642. The first Life Guards troop was originally raised in Bruges in 1658 as His Majesty's Own Troop of Horse Guards
No not all americans think that way, I for one love the British military traditions and the 5 foot regiments, the trooping the colour and all that stuff. But they also rotate from combat to ceremonial duties which I think is great, keeps them well rounded soldiers. No we dont agree with a monarchy but who cares, were allies. Don't judge a nation as a whole, makes you look like an, well I won't go into it.
@ShortMunky Somewhat, I don't get monarchy, but I do disagree with the only "guys in green" can be true soldiers statement. Yet, I do respect all of other nations and their traditions.
Why do all americans think they are english soldiers or queen of england, they are British soldiers who serve the Queen of the United Kingdom og Great Britian and Northern Ireland.
no they're grenadier guards u fools, one of the toughest regiments out there, this is just the cerimonial part of the job.....they fight all over the world like the rest of the armed forces....but not in the red clothes lol
in scandy (my nickname for scandinavia) we also saw guard changes!! i was thinking of uploading my vids of the guard changes too! lol!! guess wut? in one of them ther was a band, and they played dancing queen by ABBA!!! sorta random... that was in stockholm. i think abba is popular there or something. maybe it was originated there?
They do more than that, they are an army as well, they fight in wars, its just there main prioraty is to protect the monarchy, if anyone atepts to enter the palce they will attack, if you even touch them, theywill atack, there is more to the grenadier guards and household cavalrythen playing songs.

They are British soldiers. They will have been recruited from all 4 countries of the United Kingdom.
Also, the Queen has more than one palace. There's loads.
I hope you enjoyed your visit to my country!

Grenadier guards get an extra 2 weeks training for drills and ceremonies. They guard the Queen, fight in wars and take part in ceremonies.
