How do you get such sharp photos indoors without a flash (for the first ones at least) or tripod? I just can't seem to get the same. I'm assuming that since you're photographing architecture you can't have the aperture wide open because you nned some depth of field. How do you do it?

@max7164 but remember its a super wide angle lens, anything past 1.5m away at f2.8 will all be at the hyper focal length. read up on that to see what that means
I'm a complete novice to property photography and would appreiciate if you could recommend the right tools for the job. I've got a budget up to £1000 and at this momemnt I haven't got anything. Not even a case! Might go up to £1500.
@AgentCreative if you want to spend more then get the tokina 11-16f2.8 (the lens i have) as it is the best there is for wide angle on cropped sensors. and beats full frame wide angles as well
I have no clue about photography but I do want to learn how to take good in-door pictures. I hope that with the equipment you recommend and hours of trying will get me there. I'll be using your tutorials to get me to a good level. Shame you haven't got a course in London..., I'd be there! Cheers mate!!
Dom, As far as i know, in photographic terms, we refer to bluish light tint photographs as "cool" and reddish light tint photographs as "warm", even though the physical temperature scale is opposite.
@gerrywasthere1 they give me about 10 houses to shoot in a day. all in the same city. so i can easily do it on my bike if i was really feeling fit. 200pounds in a days woth of work. keeps me happy
Speaking of white balance, on my D300 there is options for A1,A2,A3 B1 B2 B3 etc under one of the settings...what would you use these for? I know they can be accessed by rotating the sub dial whilst selecting what White balance preset you want(daylight,cloudy, flash etc) I should really get out the camera manual but sometimes it's easier to just ask someone and let them explain!!
that stuff is for your own whitebalance presets.... of the pre set levels. Ie if wb of indoors in the camera is set to 3000 a1 would be 2800, a2 is 2600 b1 is 3200 etc. the are the smallchanges within the presets that you canchoose
white balance can be confusing but i have made about 3 other videos about it to help you out. its very difficult in this as now you are having to balance white balance with flash light as well.
Meh white balance.. Havent tought about it since I bought my DSLR because .raw

@AgentCreative ok then,
get a nikon d90 with a sigma 10-20mm lens and get a flash sb600 or sb900 and some gells. should be about £1200
dombower 2 years ago
@dombower Thanks!
Is a tripod necessary?
I've read a lot about the sigma..., they say don't save on glass, should I go for something better (£200 -£300 more)?
Thanks again!

djaditya86 2 years ago
that may be so but saying that the outside is a cool temp while saying it is around 5000k and saying the inside is warm at 3000k doesnt make sense.
dombower 2 years ago
Well you're right, i just read that in a photography book, but obviously you know much more than I do. :)
Cheers

Thought about doing some property photog for real estate or prop mgr. Have no idea how much to charge for this.
tlm1028yt 2 years ago
if it is just the photography then it cannot be toomuch, if you are doing floor plans and diagrammes then you can charge.
maybe 20per flat.
dombower 2 years ago
@dombower
£20 per flat?! that would barely cover petrol costs let alone insurance, hire of equipment, post processing...

Hi again,
Thanks for clearing that up Dom, I had a feeling it might be associated with various settings within the preset's on the camera.

Thanks for that Dom.. Very useful info.
