  • I was doing some research on the interlude after "All About Love" and came here. I just wanted to say that I had no idea that the interlude was the changes from "Celebrate" backwards. Nor id I know that the interlude from "Gratitude" was the acapella from "Can't Hide Love" backwards. That was some great information and I'm glad I came here to find that out.

  • Genius!!

  • Beautiful and mystical! Forgotten Dreams would be a nice title!

  • I've loved this since i first heard it in the 70's.

  • @billynunn, it's the ewf song celebrate backwards. He just did overdubs on the minimoog on a slower pitch and flipped the multitrack reels on the opposite side and this marvelous piece was born!

  • HE'S STILL A BAD BOY ~~~~<3

  • IT'S A SONG BACKWARDS, GUESS WHICH ONE !!!!! LOL

  • @billynunn I heard it was "Celebrate"......but I don't know if thaT'S TRUE OR NOT....

  • @freein2339 YEAH BRO, YOU'RE RIGHT IT IS "CELEBRATE" ~~~~~~

  • @freein2339 Well I'll be ! wow after all these years it's brand new.

    Thanks billynunn and freein2339

It is indeed the changes of "season change they re-arrange..." backward

Much like how the mysterious acapella "aaah" interlude before 'Sunshine' is the "Aaah-aa-aaah" outro harmonies of Can't Hide Love ...BACKWARD.

EW&F is (even more) incredible (in 2011). wow.

  • @billynunn I just found out that it is truthfully a song backwards, but i really didn't wanna know. I just wanted to continue to think Larry was a genius beyond my comprehension:-(

  • @yungatown "was" ? It still takes the same level of genius to hear this and compose around it ,so you should continue to think of Larry the same way, "celebrate" the comprehension !

  • You guys!! Everything will be ok. I'm making my brother do a cover of this and IT WILL BE LONGER. He will try to make it sound as much like this as possible if not better!! I will come back on here and tell you when he posts it. Might be a while.

  • Larry Dunn, this guy's is KILLING IT!!! I LOVE IT!!

  • LARRY SHOULD'VE MADE THIS LONGER. THIS TEASE IS KILLING US ALL!

  • this is STILL one of the strangest and most beautiful pieces of music

I have ever heard. It's like the music from dreams you forget as soon as you wake up.

  • @stillphil wonderfully put.

  • LUv this

  • When I listen to it, some of it sounds backwards. Side 2 of this album at the end is another rendition of this interlude with percussion added...it's tight!!!

  • Right before "All About Love" there's a shorterversion of this interlude, the after "All About Love" is this version......THEN....at the very end of the other side of the album is the same thing, but with added percussion, chants and another way of say "We're The Shit"!!! this is the best assembled band in the history of music.

  • *hits play again*

  • I liked this interlude from the first time I heard it back in the 70's. Larry really is a gifted musician.

  • Check out "HELP THEM SEE THE LIGHT " on That's the way of the world. Larry's solo in between Verses is crazy!!!

    This man is a BEAST!!!

  • larry dunn is an underrated keyboard genius!!! actually this is right after "about all love" fades out at the end of side one on "that's the way of the world" Lp.......been wearing out copies of this since i was i young kid!!!

  • @hevyonez97 thanks, when you're old school like me you tend to make mistakes

  • if memory serves me correctly this is right before yearning learning

  • acually all minimoog overdub. This is my fave

  • how did you know it was an overdub, you must have listened to it several times, this is ole school vinyl, yeah you' re hooked . Good work you're the man.

  • well I read in a old keyboard mag of him talking about how he did this song and how he overdub his mini, plus he said he figured this song out by reversing the EWF song Celebrate and played it out on the mini. Talk about creative juice. man i have 2 copies of this cause i love this album to death!!!

  • I hear people say that certain groups were ahead of their time but, some of the individual musicians in EWF were using techniques, and overlaying chords in ways that no other supergroups had done, then or ever.

  • yeah larry is ahead of his times, i have a friend that knows him well, and i spoke to larry a few times. Hes a joker and a real good comedian and very humble. I know of a keyboardis billy curry had connect s-trig 6 minimoogs for a 6 chord. back then people were supercreative like my fave herbie hancock and larry,,just to mention a few,,theres too many good 70s keyboard players, and may i say thats when keyboard players had a brain LOL.

  • i wish this was longer

  • I hear you....

  • Oberhiem OBX and Oberhiem OBXa

    Nice and warm huh.

  • THERE YOU GO. On point with that!

    80's Synths forever

  • @keesimo this was recorded in 1975...Tom Oberheim's OBX came out in 1979 OBX a 1981 so that's really not on point at all.

  • @stillphil On point meaning the interlude was on point. But Thanks for the synth lesson, didn't know the obx came out that early, My first time seeing it was in the Van halen jump video.

  • @keesimo no doubt, I didn't mean to sound trife.

  • has that distinct analog feel

  • Larry Dunn was a master on the keyboards!

  • still is log on to his website

  • Larry Dunn was the reason I started playing keyboards. He was an intricate part of EWF, writing, arranging & playing. Since he and Maurice left, the group will never be the same.

  • How's your playing coming..???

  • Word up

  • @afrosensuous You know you find out something NEW every day of your and while I've ALWAYS admired EW&F from early on, I never the guys' name was Larry Dunn and have had a crush on him for years when listening to the tunes they've (EW&F) put over the years! I knew it had to be something else apart from physical attraction that drew me to this guy and now after all this time 48 yrs old, I know why as he's a MASTER at his craft (music). Well, better late than never! GOD BLESS HIM, Larry's the bomb

  • i had the biggest crush on Larry dunn...back in the day i thought he was sooo damn fine!!!!! I just wanted to kiss those lips..I was young jail bait. lol

  • Well you can kiss me and I'll tell him how it feels...lol

  • @renee6628 You and I both back in the day of 1976 as I was about 12 or 13 yrs of age and definitely jail bait to this guy but OOOOOH was he super fine or what? I remember looking at the latest EW&F album/LP cover at the time and seeing Larry Dunn (although I didn't know his name!) along with the rest of the band wondering who this handsome guy was and what a HUNK he was. Now I see I amongst a million other girls were wondering the same thing, huh? LOL!

  • LOVE. i cried the 1st time i heard this-LB3

  • I remember listening to this as a kid and it just had a mesmorizing effect on me. Still does.

  • Great music is like that....:)

  • AMEN..the essenstial elements!!

  • I was so don't hate :) but it doesn't matter when you became a fan so long as you are one

    peace

  • You know when I first heard this, i kept rewinding it to figure out if this is real. Larry Dunn is a BEAST on them Keys! Thats why i wish i was born back in the day to see the best.

  • I keep rewinding it, and I was born back in the day, this is too deep to comprehend

  • Probably organ and a synthesizer

  • Sounds like it's just two tracks at the most...

  • Man...to me this almost sounds like a track played BACKWARDS. Even if that IS the case, he obviously has some seriously manual dexterity.

  • Props for posting this interlude. It's cold blooded!!!

  • Thanks , I didn't see it on the site so I decided to post it...Larry Dunn is a great keyboardist...

  • Yo!!! Check out his synth playing on the intro and breakdown of "Let Me Talk" from the FACES album. Track number one...He's playing so fast it's unreal. He's a monster man!!!

  • That's slow compared to the keyboard break on "Getaway"....

  • I dont know that s*** is rapid fire speed. My brother thought it was programmed. It was all him though. Yeah he kills on "Getaway" too. Just think he was 18 when he joined EWF.

  • You ever heard of Art Tatum..??? Now that's rapid fire speed...

  • Yeah...his records are in the collection. Larry Dunn is the Bruce Lee of keyboardists.

  • So you've heard Art Tatum play...???

  • Haha! Bruce Lee indeed, Rock!
