  • I love that bassoon soli!!! amazing. I played this my senior year in my wind emsemble, it was an arrangement but i loved it-and i love the story behind this piece.

  • @jordan777er thannnk u very much bro!.. :) :)

  • Star Trek First Contact movie's captain picard is listening, Berlioz... What is the name of the music I wonder? Does anyone know? :)))

  • @sercansekkin Vallon Sonore from Les Troyens

  • Haha the girl conducting to the conductor's left in the middle section

  • AHHHH GIRL ON THE LEFT TOTALLY DIED! MY BRAINS ASPLODED! HERS DID TOO!!!

  • They spelled Symphonie wrong in the beginning.

  • Dunno what hes doing but it looks so beautiful

  • @oishifunk Agreed. Watching him is inspiring me to pursue such awesomeness. I don't really have a god given talent for music but watching this just makes me want to achieve such thing.

  • Why does the video only show the conductor to the end. They could have panned the orchestra and some of the timpani section, The renedition is good otherwise

  • WHERE'S THE CLARINET?

  • @engmaths123 at 6:25 or so lol

  • i like the faggot solo xD

  • @marfer280105 and final conclusion lol violin strong

  • Brass crew really made a point, grats gyuz !

  • lol who does the repeat :P

  • cello player here, most fun orchestral cello part, love it..

  • @patelson OH YEAH cello rocks

Playing an excerpt of this for All State audition, really nervous (freshman over here, first time going for All State High School...) but this piece is freaking awesome!!!

    * spontaneously combusts from the awesomeness of the music *

  • I'm a trumpet player, and GOD do we love this stuff!

  • @kotetsu131

  • Go to google vi\deos and type, "dudamel berlioz" You'll be on a ride of your life.

    Really

  • Check out this verson on "arte live web" in google. THE BEST EVER.

Its by Dudamel in Paris. Really.

  • i <3 symphony fantastiquc!

  • I am in love with this symphony. :)

  • This Symphony is fun to play!

  • ככה ככה

  • i cant get that lil march theme out of my head, -what the hell is up with person flapping em arms? -who let the short bus kids into the concert!!!

  • @carbidelamp1 I'm pretty sure that's the conductor ;)

  • does anyone see that person probably five rows from the front waving his/her arm around like s/he is conducting? lol

I don't know if she was doing it the whole time, but when they cut off his head, hahaha shes goin crazy

  • great video

  • Good show, Naom, all.

  • To the knowledge of those who nored the bass trombone:

Micha Davis is the bass trombonist of the Israel Philharmonic, and conductor Noam Zur was a trombone student of his... Micha Davis can also be heared on

    2 CDs accompanying Eliezer Aharoni's

    tecently-released book "The Non-Classic

    Bass Trombone".

  • Ouch Trumpet at 4:43. Still, great piece and a great performance. Bassoons were absolutely FLAWLESS.

It's amazing how many different ways you can play one particular piece. Take the bassoon soli near the beginning for instance: Some people prefer to shorten the notes rather than elongate them while others prefer to have a little length to them. Amazing performance!

  • dont play trumpet.. played piano ages ago.. what did i miss with trumpet ?

  • also id love a girl like that... so full of passion!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol harris i think she was just feelin the conductor and music.... literally.

  • is anyone wildly distracted by the crazy bixch off by Noam's left elbow who is waving her arms starting at like 5:22 until the end. If i sat near her for such a performance i'd have stabbed her!

  • She is a kid you idiot. Go take a vacation in Iraq or Afganistan.

  • no...she's not a child...that would be somewhat understandable...i'd have stabbed her parents!

but shes a teenager acting like a fool...i'd be ashamed to even know her...

and ive been to Iraq and afghanistan...theyre really both nice. ecpecially when i make CRAZY bonuses from your tax money...i probably will go back soon!

  • Ya- sounds like bass trombone's having a fun time

  • great bass trombone solo.i play this week berlioz with our philarmonik.bass trombone is awesome.great solo man also and God bless Israel and all gospel people.i pray for all of you.peace and see you when Jesus is comming in His glory

  • It would be great to have some other viewpoints of the orchestra.

    great bass trombone paper!

  • Not the best version I've heard.

  • Funny how after seeing this video around two years ago I started learning conducting (and couldn't wait to do so), two years later I have -criticisms- about this.

    Lifes weird XD.

Still think this is very good though.

  • He sure is a great conductor. Measurable to the standards of this time: Mariss Jansons, Bernard Haitink...

What do you guys think about the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra being voted no. 1 by Gramophone magazine? Personally I agree, they belong at the top of the list.

    Kind regards,

  • This guy is good.

    And I love this piece.

  • Oh my days!!!

  • talk about dynamics

  • it's amazing what some people are able to do with their lives. bravo noam.

  • I loved the piece itself but the audience is very entertaining as well with the "dying girl" and the "guest conductor" (lol) in the audience as well around 5:20

  • Yep, kids may be quite funny. Specially when you sit very far apart from them. :D

  • bravo to bass trombone that Bb.i play this symphony and is awesome with that Bb in ff.peace all

  • Hail to the dying girl! But what about her colleague on the conductor's other side - one dies at 5:20 while the other starts conducting... she really goes crazy near the end. Wicked sisters...

  • It's good and all, just needs a bit more cowbell

  • the conductor in this song is extremely precise and broad in all his motions. it would be really easy to follow this guy...if only my conductor was easy to follow...

  • LMAO and the little girl that died on conductor's left at 5:20

  • ahhahha that girl is going crazy over there.

  • youth concert... the man in the middle is bald!lol

  • Parents do attend concerts designed for children you know! lol. Who is going to supervise them?

  • the guy playing the chello who can be seen throughout the entire video is not a kid-

  • lol

  • Ahahaha I saw that ahahah omg =))

  • I love the trombone with the low Bb in the main theme...it adds sooo much to the music

  • Yes, us trombone players luv our 'pedal Bb'

  • Played this in 10th grade in NY school of orchestral studies, along with the 5th movement, Tchaikovsky's 6th, schuberts 8th, and alot more great stuff.

  • I much prefer the crisp, stressed style here to some of the "soft" variations out there... bring out those low, soulful strings! The slight blare on trumpets on the first fanfare is the only flaw that stings in an otherwise very stand up performance.

  • while i agree with most of your sentiments the opening theme is a bit too stressed in my opinion. cutting off one of the main embellishments off. however this is a rather unique interpretation overall so i'll let it go. and i noticed the frackin trumpets naer the beginning hard to excuse.

  • wow, great conducting! very clean.

  • Great conducting. I love how you show ahead exactly what you want and shape the music. I just saw Dutoit do this with the Verbier Festival orchestra, and it was the performance of a lifetime, but this also sounds fantastic. Bravo!

  • Well.. Hi`s high professional. Hi`s conducted by heart, cool)) But in Russian school it`s forbidden to put your right hand down.. Nevertheless, it`s very emotional, earnestly and show-looking. I like it. Sorry for my bad English.

  • louder

    thats great

  • Wow! This Noam Zur is quite a find - talent to burn and completely at the service of the music. I want to hear more from him.

  • usually, the repeat (2:10) is not done anymore, because of the program: the artist is marching to the guillotine, so it wouldn't make sense him to march all the way through again. As they're not performing the whole symphony, that's ok.

Love Berlioz, he's the only one that can pair Beethoven as a symphonist!

  • If Mo Sir Charles Mackerras decides to "approve" the composer's repeats signs - all others should at least think about it

  • Beautiful!
