From a fellow timpanist, if you are going to sit/lean on a stool, make sure the stool is at an approximate height to where you stand. Also, you were looking at the music as if it was the first time you saw it, and, I know it's over, but watch the playing position (beating spots) on the top drum. p.s. roll quality
...you may want to experiment with different types of timpani mallets for this type of piece. Different types of coverings on the sticks can alter the tone of the drum...
Thanks for the suggestion, but my band teacher suggested using hard felt mallets for this particular piece, with the dramatic dynamics and all. Caitlin.
i could see using a hard felt mallet the only problem is that the idea that the harder the mallet the harder you have to work at making sure that your eveness in strokes for rolls are dead on....i feel a medium felt mallet may helped you more... and wut was the pitch for ur low drum seems a little flat
How do you take those home to practice?

as my teachers have ALWAYS said
'YOU CHOSE PERCUSSION. YOU CHOSE TO STAND!'
why arent you standing missy?

when playing tympani, it is correct technique to sit on a revoloving stool..

it depends on the piece. sometimes you are forced to stand up. plus whether you sit or stand is up to the player. it has nothing to do with technique
