If this really a true story I am at a loss for words. I would give anything I had to have either of my parents back. I lost the both of them and now I am alone. All I can say is, you obviously didn't look beyond your selfish self. Although I can relate as my mother is severly disabled and I hated being seen with her and claim that she wasn't my mum, but as we grow up you realise that somethings in life are not replaceable, it took me till i was about 12 before I accepted her for who she was. However you should be ashamed that it took you till the age of being old enough to have children and buy your own house to actually see the mistakes you had made.
