  • Lovely family recipe...looks wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

  • just how my mama makes it and she taught me 2 make it ..it is wonderful i prefer it cold tho my family likes it warm lol i hate 2 c people make banana pudding with an instant pudding mix lol its an outrage .. take the extra time 2 make it from scratch it is well worth it!!!

  • @Val2632 Really! Today I made Banana Pudding for the first time and I'm proud to say my first one was this recipe from scratch. Not that fake-o box mess. Real banana Pudding IS NOT day-glo yellow ;)

  • Just like my Mama still makes it.

Its great cold of course but be sure to have some when its very warm too..so good. With a glass of very cold milk of course

  • hello @gonetapott, can i use lady fingers instead of vanilla wafers? because vanilla wafers are not available in our area..

    thanks in advance.

  • sumthen that i been looking for the real southern stuff thats' what im talking about!!!!!

  • thats the way its done there right there momma

  • LOL! People are so funny. Everyone RANTING over how to make a damn pudding! You make it the way you like, and how your family likes.

By the way, this looks great! I may try this recipe. Thanks for sharing. ♥

  • This is gross.

    1) Your pudding is supposed to be cream-colored or pale yellow, not brown!

    2) You use fresh milk, not evaporated; it makes a lighter, prettier pudding.

    3) You let the pudding get thicker, closer to vanilla pudding.

    4) You do the bananas and wafers in one layer after the pudding cooks, pour some of the pudding over it, more bananas and wafer, more pudding. This makes a better distribution of pudding, banana and wafers, without having to make such an ugly, runny pudding.

  • @Aquaria this is not gross...i made it and loved it!! i did let it get a little thicker..but it still gets all over everything without having to layer!

  • @Aquaria--- Objection, to some degree... This is how you make a REAL Southern banana Pudding. The mixture and all the ingredience is right. The only thing that was done awkward is the way the cookies and bananas were laced throughout the bowle. A REAL home made banana pudding's mixture IS supposed to be brown. That's the differnce between that fake custard like pudding that these fake southern people seem to be using. HOME MADE BANANA PUDDING SHOULD NEVER BE MADE WITH JELLO PUDDING MIX.

  • i will try this it looks yummmmmo...however,ide like to try it with animal cookies instead!

  • @realfam1969 that sounds really good !! I would love to try animal crackers one day !

  • do u have to serve it hot???

  • @realfam1969 Hello, hope all is well.About banana pudding, you dont want to serve it hot but warm.Try to save some for the fridge because its really good cold too.Cold milk goes well with it....Marty in N Carolina

  • Now thats what i'm talkin about, finally a banana pudding without the boxed pudding/pie filling. Now this is what i call real banana pudding.

  • @Allina09-- You are right 100%!! I'm from the south and this is exactly how I make mine. NO BOX PUDDING CRAP OR CREAM CHEESE, straight from scratch. The only element i noticed missing is when it didn't go in the oven at very low temperature for about 10-15 min. so that the pudding could come together...afterword, refrigerate. The people who are posting videos with the boxed puding are the ones who don't know the REAL southern way of making it, so somehow they misinterpreted the true mixture.

  • thank you so much! i was like Thank GOD i found you! because your way like that exactly my grandmother's way but she passed away for long time ago.. i am so glad i found you about Banana Pudding! your way to makes look PERFECT now i get it from you!!! thank you so much for show on youtube!!!!

  • I could eat that whole dish alone

  • Love the memories of mom and mammie making this dish, if it was going to be eaten that day we always put meringue on top browned in the oven mumum

  • I didn't watch the whole vid before leaving my first post, but man, that is REALLY rich.

  • As a Northerner I can never argue that the Southerners in our country don't absolutely love rich, sweet deserts.

They are VERY big down south, but then again most people would be if you had the amount of food we have here.

  • I remember my Great-Grandmother making banana pudding like this... just before putting it in the oven for about 30 minutes. It was sweet, rich, and decadent.... like all southern desserts.

  • Yes.. in the oven! It is wonderful and gets better reviews than when I serve it at room temperature. No one I know likes it cold... of course I think all my friends are sick...LMAO!

  • You are ignorant.

  • just wanted you to know, that was an awesome recipe. I cooked it yesterday. I did use just one cup of sugar. It was so perfect!!!by boyfriend loved it alot. me and him ate the whole pan. I know we were so greedy. I had to workout for a week, to get that out. Thank you so much.

  • Que porqueiraa.. quem teria coragem de comer issooo... =O

  • yum yum I remember my grand ma making this and other great southern dishes and simply the bisciuts you made.all is fast becoming a lost ART thanks a bunch. Tony from South Carolina

  • I just made it; it was too rich for my family and me. I am going to cut down to only 3/4-1 cup of sugar and maybe just regular milk next time. Good easy recipe, just to sweet.

  • It should not have been THAT sweet. Did you use condensed milk instead of evaporated?

  • I want some1 trying to convince hubby to buy ingridents.
