@charlesXXelite At this time of the year I would wait for the new laptops coming out in the next few months or buy a laptop. The XPS 15 is a year old. Heating issues are minimal. I have never had any problems. I use a cooling stand now as well just to increase performance.
@greedisgoodz There are new "models" yearly usually. Your best bet is to look at all of the options on their site as they will likely offer better hardware configurations than when I bought it.
guys...i wanna tell you something......i have an pentium dual core e5200,2.5GHz,an ati radeon hd 4650,3GB RAM and call of duty 2 at high settings.what's bad is that it's working with interruptions...........but i have windows xp and just this game installed...finally what i wanna tell you is that: IF YOU WANNA BUY A COMPUTER TAKE ONE WITH AN AMD PROCESSOR AND AN Nvidia GEFORCE AS VIDEO CARD!!!!!ATI AND INTEL SUCKS!!!!!!!!!
@Idsz The WLED screen is excellent quality but the 1080p is fantastic quality. If you are willing to fork out the extra few hundred on the 1080p it's worth it.
@MythifyMe It should work well. I have the 2GB gt435m so since you have the 1GB 435 I can only recommend that you get 6GB of DDR3 RAM to make up the 2GB RAM shared graphics memory that comes on most dell systems.
Hey man, my friend got an XPS 15 2 days back, but he says he's not able to play the game in a full screen mode. The game is displayed exactly the way this video is. I mean, the black portion on both ends of the screen.
Is there a way to make the games fit in the screen properly?
@mortlander The only thing he can do is try to change the resolution in video settings. I don't remember but if there is an aspect ratio setting try changing that around too. I honestly have never changed from default settings because they worked fine and looked great. You could also google "black ops custom resolution".
guys...!! this game doesn start in ma sys...!!! when ever i run i get the error it appears that call of duty black ops did not quit properly the last time it ran, do u want to run the game in safe mode? it will change ur system setting but not ur controls. no matter what i click no response..! pls help..!!!
@Shadowx209 It gets warm but not any more than any other gaming laptop on the market. It has a standard single fan. I don't know any good laptops that have more than one fan off the top of my head. I recommend the XPS 15.
alright well the laptop has been working fine for the past few weeks since the purchase; but, i just got an exchnage for a new one due to the high pitch annoyance coming from inside the laptop near the right hand side of the keyboard.DELL said it was prolly a fan noise but i still have this sound creeping out of the the laptop.the sound is somewhat like a high pitch morse code sound? i know my analogy suxs lol but yea this is the ONLY problem i have cuz the sound drives me insane
@jinsu0504 I spent many days researching the 720 vs 1080 screens before I bought the 720. I don't have a 1080 because in the end 720 dosen't look very different on a screen this size. The differences in the 1080p screen is it is made of B+RGLED instead of WLED and that means the 1080p screen has more color saturation.
You don't notice a thing in 720p. It is in no way a "lower-quality" product because of it. I recommend trying out crysis or bad company 2 on this machine. :)
how much FPS was it???

how do you like 720p? do you wish you got the 1080p?
carami4 11 months ago
@carami4 I recommend the 720p. The 1080p isn't worth the big bucks it costs relative to the small improvement it provides.

I'm new to PC gaming could you please give me a bit of advice.
I found this laptop ( custom build ) right within my price range.
i7 740qm quad core 1.73ghz
1gb ati radeon hd 5650
8gb 1333mhz ddr3
500gb hard drive
the problem is that none of that means very little to me. Do you think that that would be good enough to run most, if not all games without choking?
I'm not looking max out settings simply to play the more demanding games without any grief. thanks.

@Amarkcalledme Hey, your laptop is good, i am going to buy the

Shadowx209 11 months ago
@Shadowx209 I have no idea cause I never check my system's sensor arrays or hold a thermometer to my keyboard while I'm playing games.
I've owned laptops that DO get hot while playing games. This XPS 15 is not one of them.
ThatGuyCH4RLiE 11 months ago

i just purchased an xps15 720p myself lol

there are so many complaining how horrid things look on the 720p
so im not sure i dont have the laptop in front of me so i wouldnt know
but is the screen still crystal clear? does the resolution issue really bother u when
look into the screen? btw my specs are the same as urs...
gawd how much im regretting for not spending the extra 150$ for the 1080p
costed me1400$
