@frenchy99555 hi this is Agnes I used to sit in front of you in class. I'm so sorry for those awful farts. It was my mom who used to feed me boiled eggs for breakfast with baked beans every morning.
One of the best singers ever to come outta the U.K.........brilliant lyrics .......pure class ..........he can say more in one line than some of these so-called popstars can say in an entire song .Sums up a mood , feeling , or thought in an instant ......genius !!!![ and the m/fer was good - looking as well .......some guys have all the luck ...quote fae rod stewart

I remember as a little kid my older brother always having music on in his car with this guy with such a distinctive voice.... Finally i found it and it still sounds so amazing.. Now the passengers in my car get treated to it.
And to think he was berated by his peers in the '80's for being too 'wordy'!! If you like this, you'll love the Rattlesnakes and Mainstream albums! I got them when they came out in the early '80s and love him to bits!! Good stuff!
I was the cinema in 1984, can't remember what film I was watching, but I remember they used to play videos before the movie came on. This track came on, fantastic track, the video was atmospheric too. Couldn't find it though. Great song, reminds me of my youth once more.
25 in 1984 and living in the heart of London and studying at Film and theatre School, we were young with all the time in the world and anything seemed possible, now there is little time left and still so much to see, feel, and experience, when alls said and done what is life but the echo of wonderful memories past..............................
A mate of mine gave me a tape, with Joy Division Closer on one side and he didn't know who was the band on the other side, I love Joy Division and always will do, but this song is something else, all the trendy kids in sixth form (before I was expelled) loved Lloyd Cole, for that reason I was always biased against them, but this is superb.
i know this song for a long time but i realy didn't know who it was and i thought( some new wave band) but it's a rockking billy.....ore somthing like that ... but it is a great song.........
I love the lyrics & the instrumentals - I love the beginning especially when the melody seems to sigh.........It builds up to something then just falls off - & Lloyd Cole's voice is just perfection for this song. This seeming anguish. Have always loved this song. And am learning more & more as I return to it now I'm older.
He was a hip dude back then. Wrote some great songs and were a very good live band. Used to live next door to my mate in Derbyshire as a child. Behind the facade of a misery guts that almost rivalled Morrisey seemed to be a deep thinker. Wish there was such a band about now....
I remember this album back in 1984 as a 17 year old. It sounds even better now in my early 40s. Lloyd Cole and his then bad have to be one of the greatest rock bands ever...and I don't say that lightly
I love the way Lloyd Cole's songs can sound so upbeat yet carry so much worldly sadness under the surface. Amazing songwriter, very underappreciated imho.

No wonder she covered it.
