@tvain86 the gtr cannot dance in the snow or mud or even wet pavement, GTR has no uphill or down hill skills and does not even come close to looks, and the creature comforts inside Audi has the gtr hands down, the gtr is kinda a track car but not a daily or long distance cruiser.
I prefer this over an M3 ... Simply because it has All-Wheel drive system ... Which actully makes the ride more luxurious and comfortable ... Plus the fact that the next generation M3 will lose the V8 and get a turbo charged inline 6 ... It might produce more power than the current engine, but hey, V8's sound just amazing ...

This is a nice car; but it no Camaro! It try to be a muscle car but it ugly and has no 6 speed manual. It has something called a 7 speed dual clutch transmission. I guessing Audi has not advance yet in making a manual. I would go with a Camaro; if you what a muscle car that is instead of some fancy immation of a muscle car. I just read the print review from these guys in Car magazine (UK) and they didn't like it much. Headline on the cover of the mag said the M3 flattened it. They also preferred the AMG. They couldn't understand how Audi got it so wrong trying to be an M3 beater.

"Reserving the RS badge for cars outside Audi's comfort zone" hasn't really been done for a very long time. Truth is, the car looks good, sounds good and handles well in a safe and predictable way, and for the majority of drivers, that's all they'll want or need. Also, you have to work the M3 pretty hard to get the performance from it too, so the lack of a supercharger or turbo shouldn't really be a comparative disadvantage either. I'd buy one for sure.
It is a matter of personal taste, of personal feeling and the personal attitude to automobiles.

As for me the BMW M3 coupe can't be direct comparison to Audi RS5, because RS5 is more like.. gran tourismo, it has all wheel drive, so it will be more easy to drive than M3 or Merc C63. It's like.. more suitable for comfort city driving than BMW and Merc.. but this is also a disadvantage of the Audi, because you cant really feel car as you feel it in M3 or C63.. as for me, I like RS5 very much, also I like the M3, but in two years new is coming out, without V8=(

We needed Tanner Foust to drve this car. This guy looked sleepy. Hits 100km they say average in 4.6, that's 4.4 to 60. A luxury sports car. You can use full power without loosing it. Interior is top compared to BMW. I've checked. Same with looks. I bought the s5, now they come out with this!! 2012 model I have the itch!

Its funny how all you guys pass judgement on which car is better and probably haven't even driven any of the cars you say are best, let alone even sat in them. I've driven an '08 RS4, '09 Lexus ISF and an '09 M3 (No, I'm not rich, I'm a piss poor student who has friends and friends parents who have nice cars and I've been fortunate enough to drive them.). I love Audi and the RS4 more than any other car under 120 grand and after driving the piss out of all 3, I would have to take the Lexus.

I think it's important to remember that this is Audi's GT. They already have the TT-RS and R8 as true sports cars, so this car has a slightly different mission.

I completely agree. I own a RS4 and love it. I also love thh M3 but I can not afford both cars. I live in the north and need awd. I would argue that most BMW owners are not the people posting here. The people who make moronic comments about the superiority of the M3 on youtube are most likely people who own riced civics and stis and have never driven either car. I think Audi did a great job on making this RS5, but they just missed to the whole spirit of a sports car. The reason people wants a sports car is they want to be cool, faster and better than others, but the most most important matter is that people want to be in control. Be in control of the car, not controled by the car. those high-tech are good and it could save you ass when you made a mistake, but once you kill the danger, the fun goes with it.

Every brand at the time was the right car for me. Each has specific advantages. Mercedes for comfortable and fast long-distance. The BMW provided the most feedback. But there are also circumstances, as they show nervous behavior. The BMW engines are the best. There is also a question of the country. Has one year only sunshine and rain or has one year 5-6 months in winter.

Part 2 With the Audi, I could break into physical areas that are not experienced with BMW or Mercedes. Driving fast in a curve, in which a truck lost sand. Then you know everything. Stepping on the gas and show the Audi where the road leads. No driving artist necessary. My advice to every Audi driver. Visit a place where you can learn about the handling of your car at the limit. So you can step on the gas when your brain screams "brakes". Therefore i like the Audi more.

Let me write my opinion here.. As for me the BMW M3 coupe can't be direct comparison to Audi RS5, because RS5 is more like.. gran tourismo, it has all wheel drive, so it will be more easy to drive than M3 or Merc C63. It's like.. more suitable for comfort city driving than BMW and Merc.. but this is also a disadvantage of the Audi, because you cant really feel car as you feel it in M3 or C63.. as for me, I like RS5 very much, also I like the M3, but in two years new is coming out, without V8=(

We want to see this driven like the car it is!! this is boring!! Put this on a track with a real driver. Put this on super cars exposed. The R8 was on it, and this is faster! Not the v10 one obviously. Tanner Foust knows how to drive. He's an amazing rally driver too. He won x games gold.

We needed Tanner Foust to drve this car. This guy looked sleepy. Hits 100km they say average in 4.6, that's 4.4 to 60. A luxury sports car. You can use full power without loosing it. Interior is top compared to BMW. I've checked. Same with looks. I bought the s5, now they come out with this!! 2012 model I have the itch!

I don't care if a BMW M3 could outperform this car.....The Audi is a thousand times more sexy than the BMW. But I think the BMW fans (which I am one myself) need to see what the car can do before assuming it will lose to an M3.

RS4 destroyed M3, it made an embarrassment out of it. RS5 is in another league to BMW all together. When Audi was on the road BMW did not exist until 30 years later. Audi any time all the time.

Its funny how all you guys pass judgement on which car is better and probably haven't even driven any of the cars you say are best, let alone even sat in them. I've driven an '08 RS4, '09 Lexus ISF and an '09 M3 (No, I'm not rich, I'm a piss poor student who has friends and friends parents who have nice cars and I've been fortunate enough to drive them.). I love Audi and the RS4 more than any other car under 120 grand and after driving the piss out of all 3, I would have to take the Lexus.

i love audi's but for some reason i feel this car has came out a bit to late i mean the m3 e92 came out in 2007 and since then its taken audi this much time to come out with something that can rival the m3 i mean its 2010 and the audi rs5 has only just come out then again i have no other critsizeism 4 this i love the efort audi puts in to makeing all their cars as good as they can.

I think it's important to remember that this is Audi's GT. They already have the TT-RS and R8 as true sports cars, so this car has a slightly different mission.

@xXTrueSShotX Well I am not too sure about MB being drug dealers and BMW people with taste. I live in Wiesbaden Germany and the majority of "people with taste" drive Audi's. In fact I think most of the luxury cars driven around this city (which is one of the 3 richest cities in Germany) drive Audi's. Grandpa's, usually drive Mercedes (C or E Class), and BMW's (all 1 series and lots of 3 series) are usually driven by people who wish they had taste or class. Of course that is in Germany

@jimpodi Have not driven an RS5. I have an M3. Don't need 1st hand experience of both cars to confirm what the professional critics are saying. It's unlikely that they would lie through their teeth when comparing and M3 with an RS5..so I believe they are telling the truth...really like the RS5 tho :)

I completely agree. I own a RS4 and love it. I also love thh M3 but I can not afford both cars. I live in the north and need awd. I would argue that most BMW owners are not the people posting here. The people who make moronic comments about the superiority of the M3 on youtube are most likely people who own riced civics and stis and have never driven either car. Both companies make superior vehicles for very different customers.

@wazon8 what are you? a bmw spokesperson?? lol I don't care whether M3 is more fun to drive. When i spend that much $ in a luxury sports sedan, I expect everything out of it. The M3 is a great driving machine, but that's pretty much it. RS5 looks way better than the M3, both inside and out. It has more hp and a better sounding V8 grunt. I like the quattro grip, because it will keep me safe on slipperty roads.

@wazon8 Audi had 25.9% 1st quarter sale growth (bmw 14%) - that's also better than mercedes. Even though BMW remains the top selling luxury automakers, audi is catching up very quickly. BMW beat Audi by having sold only 1,709 more units. That's a pretty shitty number difference when people like you talk of how great bmw is, don't you think?? lol

@jimpodi You're kidding me, right? In June 2010 Audi sold 8601 units, YTD for Audi is 48440 units, BMW sold in June 2010 19182 units, YTD for BMW is 100632 units. That's the real numbers difference for U.S. market. Do you think it's shitty? There is huge gap between these two brands and of course, it's much easier to reach significant procentage of growing sale when you sale half less. @wazon8 those are US sales numbers. People in the US don't know shit about european cars. They buy anything that markets well. That doesn't mean they're great cars. BMW has a huge US market, not Audi, even though Audi is starting to tap into that. The A4s outsold both 3 series and C class in Germany (2008,2009).

@jimpodi U.S. market is the biggest market for each luxury car sellers, so gaining bigger sale there is huge success. But provide numbers, because as far I know A4 has never outsold 3-er in Germany. You're badly wrong about U.S. customers! I would even say that marketing issue applies to Germans more than to U.S. customers. Any idea why Fiat is not on U.S. market? They simply stop to buy it because of unreliability. Germans still buy shitty Fiat.

Man, I only opt against people who put RS5 over M3 e92. The last one is better in all respects one can expect from sport car. If you don't need better handling, better acceleration, think twice before you waste your money on RS5, because it seems that S5 should suffice you.

Another point is weight distribution, which is 50/50 in M3 and 56,9/53,1 in RS6, which tells something about hadling characteristic eighter, more precisely about behaviour in corners. Third, is the fact that M3, not RS6, has a carbon roof and hence has a lower centre of gravity, which allow one...

All these factors give expected result: first, M3 is faster car when consider straight line acceleration when 0-160km/h (9,4 vs. 9.8) and 0-200km/h (15,2 vs. 15,6) are considered. One simply cannot deal with 100kg more by providing only 30hp more and it will affect acceleration on higher speed; second, M3 is faster on Autozeitung Test Track (1:40,1 vs. 1:40,7) and Hockenheim Short (1:14,3 vs. 1:15,3). One thing you cannot derive for sure from these data...

I think Audi did a great job on making this RS5, but they just missed to the whole spirit of a sports car. The reason people wants a sports car is they want to be cool, faster and better than others, but the most most important matter is that people want to be in control. Be in control of the car, not controled by the car. those high-tech are good and it could save you ass when you made a mistake, but once you kill the danger, the fun goes with it.
