I recall seeing Easley Blackwood from the Roosevelt school of Music play the whole Concord Sonata by heart. So it is not impossible to memorize. It is a phenomenal theme and variations, so much going on! I would like to se the whole concerto, why just an excerpt?
There's no need to memorize anything. It's all in the score.

Wish the whole thing was up. The pianist has done a good job memorizing the solo part!
