  • Thank you for posting these videos. I remember alot of thes rides from when I first went to disney in the early 90s.

  • i remember the carousel of progress i think it was called, one of my favorites even though it wasn't a ride, but it is soooo nostalgic to me cause i only got to ride it once back in 1993. i miss the old disney soooo much, its still good today, but back then everything just had a special feeling about it.

  • @lsvtecb18c1 The Carousel of Progress is still open...You should go see it again, it's still awesome.

  • I remember this!!!!! I was only like 5 but.......I recall it.

  • I remember this ride. It was awesome!

  • This looks cool.

  • Loved this ride when I was a kid. I dont really like the Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin to be honest. This was a nice relaxing ride that you could enjoy after facing the long lines for Space Mountain, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain.

  • i was one of the last that ride that attraction on 1995

  • Thank you very munch I forgot the name of this ride because I was 5 years old when I went on this.

  • this ride scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

  • gone also is the original Mission to mars

  • this used to be the shirt for me lol

  • oh wow i have this exact footage at home i will try to upload it how cool

  • @rugdg13. Oh I know! It stinks when you don't have them, and you have to watch a thousand people go by. Sometimes there's a good Cast Member whose fair, but we had one on Kilimanjaro Safaris once that let about a hundred fastpass people go by, and then even when nobody was coming he still kept us standing. But when you have fastpasses, it ROCKS. Once people booed us in ToT but we just said "you should have gotten some then!" I LOVE fastpasses!

  • this ride looks like it sucks, but thanks for posting old disney stuff that is no more!

  • My dad said there's a ride that has Donald duck in it and idk he's flying a spaceship in tommorowland. But I think they took it down but idk I never been on it. My dad would sing the theme song to this ride.

  • This looks kind of cute. Even Buzz needs some updating now, it's getting kind of old.

  • I loved this ride! It was so much fun for me as a kid. I was sad to see it go and be replaced with the really garish Buzz Lightyear ride, but ridership on this attraction was REALLY low because it was pretty dated. I loved that tunnel with the light though; it always had this really soft, sort of musty smell, and I loved it, strangely enough.

  • didn't this get replaced by buzz space ranger spin?

  • @CeletialDarkness yes it did

  • would have been perfect after the closing of World of Motion at Epcot!

  • Ahhh good times... TimeKeeper, somewhere near it, was good too. Too bad instead of replacing the rides they could have just expanded Magic kingdom. More rides could equal shorter lines! FAST PASS IS EVIL!

  • Sometimes things have to change. It's just the way it goes. And Fastpass is NOT evil have you even been there lately? It saves you waiting up to hours in line!

  • @DisneyWorldVIP True.. but i just get jealous when your on the regular line going about 2 steps per min and watching the fastpass lane getting to the ride in a matter of seconds. XD

  • @DisneyWorldVIP Lol I LOVE the fast pass system. If you time them JUST right, you can do a Massive ride hopping thing. We did Tower of terror and went Straight to water rapids and then did Soaring over CA. All fast passes. ^_^

the Best part? The envious glares of ppl that have been standing in the same spot for an hour.

  • @DisneyWorldVIP

FastPass RUINED many rides because of the delay of switching between standard wait and FP wait. The Buzz Lightyear ride in Tomorrow land had a significant rise in wait time after FP was added to it. Almost every time FP was down on a ride, the wait time dropped. Never mind some horribly rude woman scoffed at my mother and I when it was our turn to get on the ride after WE waited almost an hour while she had to wait an extra two minutes for us in the stupid FP line. :/

  • @SilverGummiShark I am a Disney Cast Member. Statistics show that by adding the Fast Pass option, the average wait time has actually gone down! Who-da thought, right?!

  • This is probably the only old Disney ride that I don't miss... actually Mission to Mars wasn't that great either

  • Go I remember when this was another ride that had the one microchip scene from tron in it. I wish I could remember what it was. My family and I would go in August so at least it was air conditioned!

  • @giedosst

I am almost sure that the Tron like stuff was at the end of World of Motion.

  • "Up and Down, around and around.Hey Asshole your flying to high!"

  • Ok, no offense to anyone who liked this ride, and I never went on it. But I am really really thankful that they replaced it with the Space Ranger Spin. Much more fun.

To all who disagree, think about the fact that when this was open it was mildly popular, while Space Ranger Spin is one of the most popular rides in the park and one of my personal favorites.

  • @DisneyWorldVIP

I am with you on this one. Dreamflight was not in the right park and had it's equivalent (World of Motion) at EPCOT already. When I used to go with my family, we routinely skipped this attraction.

  • Disney was brilliant.

Having your imagination aroused is just as satisfying as a thrilling roller coaster.

  • great job man just classics for histoy

  • This sure brings back many wonderful memories of trips that our family took to Disney World. Now my sister and I are takeing our own kids

  • I loved this ride. :(

  • One of the best rides ever. Now they have that ridiculous Space Ranger Spin thing there. Thanks for posting this. Great memories!

  • Good thing Disney changed this into Buzz Lightyear

  • This ride was so much fun. I miss it.

  • I remember this ride! This was the type of ride that was good to go on near the end of the day after riding all the thrill rides and whatnot. I'm not surprised they closed it though because it's not as memorable as the Haunted Mansion or Pirates of the Caribbean for example.

  • Uh i don't remember this ride at all.

  • Really? It was pretty cool lol, the song brings back so many memories.

  • Great ride, always a nice easy way to cool down. I worked at Space Mountain (note nickname :o) ) the last summer that Take Flight was there. I had a friend who worked the other TL attractions (TTA/Take Flight/Rockets) and he took us through the ride after hours. I got some GREAT pictures on the sets before they were destroyed. Sad to see it go but you gotta give it up that Buzz is WAY more popular and a 'better' attraction from the view of the general public.

  • I remember that the ride was so empty one time that the ride operator said we could go through it as many times as we wanted without actually getting off the ride. xD

  • I remember when I rode it.. 82. The song that stuck in my head was You do have wings... you do have wings. you do have wings.

  • yeah I remember Take Flight more than Dreamflight....and it couldn't of closed in January of 1996! I went on this twice, and that was in November of 1996 and July 1997! I loved this ride....go fig...all my childhood faves are being closed! :(

  • lol I KNEW IT! this is what it said in wikipedia: From January 1, 1996 to June 4, 1996 the attraction was renamed simply "Dreamflight" while its future was being determined. On June 5, 1996 it reopened as Take Flight. It was only a slight refurbishment; all references to Delta were removed and the attraction's popular theme songs were rerecorded. Take Flight closed its doors for good in January 1998, ending the dynasty of flight-based attractions to occupy the space.

  • When I worked at Disney this was my favorite attraction to work at. I spent hours and hours there.

  • I use to LOVE this ride. I used to go on it all the time. All the colors were fantastic. Just the colorful things are beautiful.

  • Man i really wish it was still around, i was 3 when they took it down and it looks amazing.

  • This was one of my favorite rides at WDW

  • I believe it was Take Flight after Dreamflight. And yes the supersonic take off had a very strange smell to it, but I dont think I would call it maple syrup.

  • The chemical mixture that's used in most types of theatrical fog machines (which was used at the beginning of the "supersonic take-off" portion) tends to have somewhat of a sweet smell to it. It's weird how we associate certain smells with Disney attractions......much like the "Disney water ride smell". :)

  • i seem to remember the smell in Test Track with the corrosion test and the robots' mist, it has a distinguishable smell. i agree 100% with you!

  • I think they add some sort of fake 'chemical' smell to the robots on TT since they are simulating a corrosion chamber. They are just spraying water vapor...I think.

  • I must have went on this ride 10 times in a row one very rainy day with a friend when I was about 11 years old. No one was in line and it beat running in the rain or wearing those stupid ponchos. I was very disappointed when they got rid of this. Especially now, when the new Toy Story ride in the studios is just a better version of buzz. Big Ups for the video

  • I distinctly remember this ride being called Take Flight...I know it changed multiple times due to sponsorship changes, but was Dreamflight before or after Take Flight?

  • I still wish that "If You Had Wings" was still the ride inhabiting that showbuilding. Buzz is neat and the kids love it, but I want to see v-shaped birds flying over me and tiny, tiny, people in a pool waving to me!

  • I remember if you had wings as well-- circa 1975!

  • I remember this ride when I first went to Disney World in 1993, but I didn't think the ride would only last 6 1/2 years!

  • i wish i had been old enough to appreciate that ride when i went on it :(

  • Is it just me, or did the supersonic takeoff part smell like maple syrup?

  • wow it wasn't just me then, it smelled maple syrupy along with gingerbread cookies, now every time i smell maple cookies or gingerbread cookies i remember this ride.:) this was one of my favorite rides as a child

  • hope this post's right...what i wrote was response to northvillesucks1...but it didn't post right

  • I'm not the only one!! LOL, tried to convince my parents when I was younger, they never believed me.

  • If this is where Buzz is, what an improvement!

  • Oh my god!!! My memories come flooding back when watching this.. so disappointed they got rid

  • I think sometimes rides get changed just for the sake of change. Often the new attraction is not an improvement over the old one.

  • I use to love this ride!! Thanks so much for posting this video!

  • This ride was a crummy, cheap replacement for the beloved "If you had wings" ride-- a pretty cool ride for free back when WDW used A,B,C... tickets. "If you had wings" was sponsored by Eastern Airlines (bankrupt). Someone set up a whole site in tribute to the Wings ride (google it!). Buzz Lightyear is there now.

  • i never rode it but im going to disney in christmas but i wish i could ride it

  • I love this ride! I miss goin on it everytime i go to WDW. I am a flight student now and love the depiction of flight through its beginning. I could have sworn this was called "Take Flight" though

  • It was always rides like this one that made Disney a more balanced experience for me - a few mellow rides tossed in amongst the usual Disney spectacle. I don't ever want Disney to be ALL "E Ticket" rides. That would kinda suck, actually. Give me a relaxing, albiet less interesting, ride now & then, just to have a shorter queue line and a break from the crowds elsewhere.

  • Is this where Buzz Lightyear is now?

  • yes

  • ya i know i love the tta...

  • i never went on it...and did it go upside down or somethin?

  • I rember that from when I was a kid

  • That ride is retarded.

  • i grew up 20 min from Disney, always going there. DREAMFLIGHT was considered by many to be the super-ultra-shittiest ride at Disney. it blew and i think, still blows to this day.

  • You know It was my favorite ride and just because you didn't like doesn't mean everyone didn't. Shall it rest in peace.

  • I liked it, too. :)

Boring rides are fun. The most boring is the People Mover (formerly known as the Tomorrowland Transit Authority) and it's my favorite out of ALL of the rides at Disney.

  • Amen! I hope they never lose the People Mover! I remember when Disneyland in CA tried to turn theirs into a thrill ride, but it didn't last long.

  • Since when is it formally known as the TTA? The attraction at the Magic Kingdom's Tomrrowland in Florida has been and still is known as the TTA.

  • Hm... I'm guessing the "Prepare for supersonic takeoff" part is now the hyperspeed section of Buzz Lightyear?

  • At least there is Soarin ant EPCOT, so we can still fly, and now, actually feel like you are flying! I do miss the old rides, it is too bad Disney couldn't just keep the old rides, and add the new ones. Not realistic, but I can dream....and Disney can make most dreams come true.

  • I probably went on this ride during its last year, but this video makes me feel like I've been on it. Boy has Disney changed.. Also has anyone notice Disney uses that light effect in most of there rides, when you only see only one and that is it

  • When they named it Take Flight, did they change the ride in any way or it was just the name that changed. Does anyone know where to get the song that plays in the room with the big screen of the guy doing stunts.

  • this brought back lots of memories...another great ride my kids will never get to go on.

  • I remember I went when I was four and my grandma took me on this ride and then the next time I went it was gone and I was all mad and confused and my mom told me that the ride never existed. HA! I was right!

  • The ride was originally sponsored by Eastern Airlines and called "If you had wings" then it was renamed "if you could fly" and Delta took on the sponsorship.

  • ive been on this before too.wasnt it another name too like delta or somethin?

  • If You Had Wings

  • My Other Favorite Was Horizons..I Mean Now They Have That Mission To Space Alot Of People Have Been Getting Killed On That They Other Horizons That Was Just Perfect Nothing Happened You Rode On It And You Went By These huge Screens And You Would See Animatronics

In Space On Land And Sea And You Would See Alot Of Things I Mean Mainly The Reason I Was Mad About That Be Taken Down

  • All Buzzlightyear Is To Me Is A Moving Shooting Arcade This Ride Here You Actually Rode On But The Buzzlightyear All You Do Is Ride By Stuff And Shoot Em Almost Like Going To The Pier In Wildwood Where You Ride On Things And Shoot Stuff And You Win Whatever It Says On The Vehicle.. But This Ride Here I Don't Think It's Going To Compare To Another Ride In The Next 100 Years Cause This Ride Was Like No Other This Ride Was Very Amazing And I Just Feel That No Other Ride Ever Will Take It's Place...

  • I Use To Love This Ride Really Really Love It

I Tell Ya I Was Sooo Pissed When The Put Buzz Lightyear In Dreamflight's Place I Fell In Love With This Ride.. And As Soon As I Knew It They Had Taken It Down I Was Really Mad I Mean That Buzz Lightyear Doesn't Even Compare To This Ride I Don't Think It Ever Will I Think This Ride Here Was Better And It Was The Bomb!!

  • It's ok honey, they have soaring now. It's mostly similar.

  • You're the only person I've ever heard say they like Dreamflight over Buzz. Personally, I liked If You Had Wings better than Dreamflight. It induced trances; I'd get off, walk around like a zombie and say, "I do have wings..."
