is this a traditional honkyoku or an improvisation? if it is a honkyoku, what school is it? very moving indeed. Tairaku has always been one of my favorites : )

This shakuhachi has 5 holes and is tuned to G. It's about 78 cm. long and has a wide bore. Good luck!

i think this flute makes use of either the japanese pentatonic 'Miyako-Bushi' which is C,Db,F,G,Ab

or the 'Hirajoshi' which is C,D,Eb,G,Ab

Shakuhachi are tuned to a minor pentatonic scale. They are usually tuned to D. In D the scale is D, F, G, A, C. This particular Shakuhachi is tuned to G. Therefore, the notes are G, Bb, C, D, F. Same scale, lower starting point.

These five notes are just the "open" hole notes. Any note as well as microtones can be played by bending the pitch at the blowing edge and/or partial hole covering. This pitch changing ability makes shakuhachi the slide guitar of flutes.
