Ridiculously good. I play lounge piano at a high class restaurant. I thought I was pretty good, but my solo playing doesn't come close to this. Great job!
Absolutely great solo jazz piano. Man, you've got it all - great time, phrasing, harmony, and arrangement. Congrats and I'm looking forward to listening to more of your material.
Your sense of time is so good - it is great to hear a solo piano piece that avoids the relentless walking bass line, or with every beat covered with something in the left hand. The underlying pulse is so strong that the even the spaces swing! And there is such variety in approaches, yet it all seems to stay connected in style. I really enjoyed it
Thanks, good tip. It's annoying that you can't really annotate some of these riffs easily so they don't come acros well in sheet music so I Isuppose it's trial and error and watching people like 7note demonstrate!
You mention that you found a tutor when you re-started playing - can you give me any tips on how I can find a good jazz tutor around Herts/ Essex? Thanks. PS Love the run at 2:16.
In playing this piece you once again display your very natural and total command of your instrument. Both hands are as one - it just amazes me how you do this with seemingly very little effort. It's as if there is no distinction between where the LH part stops and the RH part starts - you have one hand with 10 fingers! Just terrific.
Some tunes are date stamped yet timeless. This gem from Harold Arlen carries his love of the blue side of Jazz into the ages. As always, masterful.-Klav
i have to second all the positive comments! very enjoyable music... pleasing on every level, both intellectually and physically. thank you

That walking bass in the middle part - it makes this tune not only "clever made" but also "orgasmic". Thanx for doing such a good and nice work.

This has a bluesey feel to me btw. I could be wrong, but the 'run at 2.16' also sounds bluesey, so Jonboy might want to investigate the blues scales?

Oh yes indeed. 7notemode is a good lead to follow. Good luck and keep at it. (But you will anyhow!)

MatthewPA, I probably like runs a little bit too much. If you have a specific one you want to know about, let me know.
