I am a Hindu and have studied Islam for 9 years under various scholars yet I accepted Islam only a few months ago. I have never heard that particular account about the Prophet (BPUH) closing his hears. Do be careful because there are lots of accounts about actions and sayings of the Prophet, and most are unauthentic. There is a huge dispute about several hadith. The only true guide is the Qu'ran.
