Chara isn't a fighter, he a big goon defensemen, he can slap that puck at a 105 MPH and put it on net very effectively, plays defense at the top level and is among the best in the league. He gets into fights because someone else harasses him into it to get him off the ice.

9 times out of 10, when Chara scraps, it's because someone else instigates it. I think he knows he's not a great fighter, but because of his size, tough guys in the league want to take him on. I could give a shit wether he's a good fighter or not. I've seen him in some decent scraps. Yes, he usually wrestles guys to the ground. That's a distant second to his abilities as a defenseman. I enjoy watching the guy play the game. End of story.

@mikeblev427 First off, I don't play in the NHL, he's not my captain. Second, I never said he was a spectacular fighter. A headlock is the best way to get a guy with a long reach's helmet off. It keeps him in close so he can't throw and when he pulls back it forces his lid off. I'd much rather see smaller guys scrap.
