This song with the accompanying images, depicts our worsening world conditions, very well does it not. All of this and more was foretold in Bible Prophecy, depicting, the last generation. (Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, 2 Timothy 3: 1-5 & Revelation 6)
This is actually Good News for "the meek, who shall inherit the earth, and reside forever upon it" but bad news for those who are "ruining the earth". That "kingdom" we pray for in the Lord's Prayer is the ONLY hope for all mankind
That depends really on WHAT kind of earth they are to inherit, if it's a barren wasteland I' d just as soon pass on that. The lion may very well lie down with the lamb because they're both dead.
@lunda2222 Actually the earth will be restored to the way it was originally meant to be in the Garden of Eden (meaning Paradise of Pleasure), except that it will be earth wide according to Bible prophecy and with those ruining the earth removed, God will see that it stays that way. For more info on the earth's future, speak to the next people who knock on your door with the Bible.
This is an example of a great voice and great writing-the current generation of "musicians" should take an example from the truly talented performers who have come before...(but I guess they don't really need to, as they're millionaires from record sales, concerts, etc-people still buy their trash!
This perfectly expresses my thoughts on the music nowadays. If only more people would listen to songs like this, instead of people screaming at the top of there lungs.
great song - nice video too. Just somehow the lyrics make me think about the sustainability of our planet or if we are just exploiting it and when its gone - we may ask why?
Did you know that the words to this song were written by a woman who responded to a call by Roger Whittaker, who wanted to sing something fresh and different?
Sad, sad song, hopefully not prophetic! When will we get it right, for crying out loud! Why is it we are never the best we can be, why are we stuck in stupidity and cruelty? We can be better than this, we know we can, but then why do we always get it wrong? Misquoting here, but I agree--"Just when it seems we're finally getting somewhere good along comes some jackass to shove us back down again! And we let it happen, that's what really disturbs me!"
First time I remember hearing this song and I am sorry about that!! outstanding lyrics and an excellent video treatment. And, obviously, superb vocal performance.
When I was younger, my Ma was a big fan. To my great disdain. She was also a fan of Johnny Mathis, The New Christy Minstrels, and everything white-bread middle-of-the-road non-offensive blahblahblah.
Oh, but now. I so get sappyweepy, am not so offended by blatant displays of emotion. And I'm a diggin the Rog Whittaker.
This one in particular is such a brilliant song, brilliant artist and WOW, your video is just SOO amazing. The song & your video sadly have such resonance. Why can't we humans get it right? We do so much that's good. The comments too have such feeling, especially those towards the end. You are brilliant flint2go - thankyou. edgwaregirl57
ThePuebloDude, yes sir, I did. I know that we reported in the Hellhole, our team was 30 strong and now it is 6 of us left. Alot of cancers, 2 sucidies, and other illness. I have prostrate cancer(maybe agent orange) but it was caught in time and taken care of. Tks for yr caring!!
This song is not a Whittaker original: It' came out of something he started on British radio in the early 1970s - an invitation to audiences to send lyrics to him; he would put the best ones to music. This one was by a Joan Stanton of Cornwall; but the most famous of all was "The Last Farewell", whose lyricist was Birmingham jeweler Ron Webster. Roger once admitted that this could well follow him to the grave - and he's coming up to 75 this march 22!
I found Roger on AFRS while stationed in a hellhole named Nam. The songs he sang helped maintain my mind while trying to make it home in TEXAS 1 piece.
What a wonderful voice! I really love all the songs of Roger Whittaker. My father had brought me a long playing record of his.My late father was a fond of Roger Whittaker. My heart felt good wishes to him.

With the singer and the song
And the music isn't gentle anymore"
