The West needs fuel subsidies from govts not bail outs to help it recover economically. A year of flat fuel oil prices would allow sensible planning and savings. As long oil prices are rising so fast the economy cannot keep up. Brazil, Russia and India have cheap oil. China's economy is heavily subsidised. The only subsidies the west benefit from are for fishermen and farmers, which do not create job and hark back to the 1800s! Wake up and realise free market economies have become uncompetitive!

Those most responsive to citizens' needs. In tough times, corporations respond almost immediately with weekend sales etc. They lower their prices or risk going out of business. This helps people out so that's who should provide most services. Government responds slowly, if at all. The West needs fuel subsidies from govts not bail outs to help it recover economically. A year of flat fuel oil prices would allow sensible planning and savings. As long oil prices are rising so fast the economy cannot keep up. Brazil, Russia and India have cheap oil. China's economy is heavily subsidised. The only subsidies the west benefit from are for fishermen and farmers, which do not create job and hark back to the 1800s! Wake up and realise free market economies have become uncompetitive!

Those most responsive to citizens' needs. In tough times, corporations respond almost immediately with weekend sales etc. They lower their prices or risk going out of business. This helps people out so that's who should provide most services. Government responds slowly, if at all. Hell, it usually RAISES its prices (taxes) in times both good and bad, so that's obviously where greed runs rampant.

The vision of liberals as compassionate and conservatives as less caring is pervasive. Liberals advocate “forgiveness” of loans to 3rd-world countries, a “living wage” for the poor and a “safety net” for all, but these are government policies--not individual acts of compassion. The actual consequences of such policies are of remarkably little interest to advocates but depending on what those consequences are, there may be good reasons to oppose them, so opposing them could be more compassionate.

One phenomenon common in govt is that the LESS well a govt department does something, the MORE money it's given next year. Politicians win elections pushing for "more funding" for this or that which bureaucrats have fucked up. LOL ...

The government however is elected. And let's not forget that conservatives have been giving corporate big shots tax breaks, which results in the government having less funding. Maybe if people like you were more generous to public programs, then the government would be able to fund it properly.

RIght. So people have more power over corporations i.e. Corporations don't get a dime unless they please people enough that people are inclined to hand money over to the corporations voluntarily. That makes corporations more responsive to people than government. Government can just steal money legally without helping anybody. Helping people is hard and only profits can motivate people to do it for the long-term.

At least corporations can't do that without government collusion.
