@JustinWguitar89 I've never heard that term before but it sounds pretty close to what is going on.... The delay is filling in the gaps between the played 8th notes.... resulting in something that "sounds" like 16th notes.

@AVEproductions00 when creating music remember in nature things are symmetrical, so mentally if your symmetrical in your timing everything will work out. I start playing eight notes like him but i make things interesting by sweep picking to add fills. just remember the mind wants to hear symmetry if something doesn't sound like it flows that's probably why.

About that delay thing, so that means you have to change the speed of the delay EVERYTIME if you decide to play a different tempo right?

That is correct. And technically speaking, if you are playing 8th notes the delay acts as the in between notes making an end result of 16th notes coming out of the speaker. your 8th notes, plus the 8th notes that are delaying in between your"played" 8th notes. That's why it sounds so fast and impressive. You are only playing half as fast as what's coming out the speaker. but remember, the delayed notes don't begin immediately ... they start right after your second played" note.

@jonnyXrice Thats what tap delay is for. You can buy a tap trigger for the delay pedal you already have, and a dotted eighth delay is usually a layer of two delays, or a pong delay.
