@oleekins I've never tried threading, but I waxed the sides of my face and my jawline about a month ago. I reacted to it sooo badly, like many people usually do. I broke out and I still have some remainders of it on my face. Plus, I was in pain for like... the rest of that week.
i thread my own upper lip every other week or so. i also thread my eyebrows :) way better than plucking because you can get a lot of hair in the amount of time it would take to pluck one. it does hurt a bit but i heard that taking a hot shower or laying a warm towel over your face for 10 minutes before you start helps a lot because it opens up your pores.
I just got mine threaded for $12.00 at the MALL. I like it but it was painful and my wearing contacts is bad because you have to hold your eyelid down for them to thread. My right eye started tearing when I got done. My skin turned into a reddish tone. The lady put some lotion on it to help the skin. Overall. It was OKAY.
I'm too scared to go get my eyebrows threaded haha. I've only gotten waxing which isn't really painful at all. It kinda stings a bit but then the pain doesn't really last. But usually my brows get kinda itchy though, Idk why xD
Ya threading hurts a lot at first. It made me break a sweat enduring the pain. But the second and third time become less and less painful. If you wait too long to get rethreaded though, it'll be as painful as the first time.
Really? I never touched my eyebrows at all and the first time I got it threaded it did not hurt one bit. It just felt annoying but it didn't hurt at all. I tweezed my eyebrows after threading (when there was a little growth under my arch) and that hurt way worse than threading.
you people get ripped off. I pay 7 bucks to get both my eyebrows and upper lip threaded! it doesn't really hurt much after the first few times. just gotta get used to it. and its worth it... fast and clean!
well, i think threading makes the brows looker neater and mine takes at least 2-3 wks to grow back to full... but i end up tearing always becoz i cant take PAIN!!!
i love threading! i pay 12 dollars, but you can find indian salons where it's a lot cheaper, but those are usually in bigger cities. It is kind of painful, but the results are so much better than waxing. Your eyebrows look so defined and clean.
interesting. i don't think i would do this, especially considering the pain and price. i don't think it's necessary. i looked it up and it's $35 at one place. no idea if that's avg price or not.
haha threading was so painful the first time.... and the times after the first haha. but its worth it. its also faster than plucking. and better for sensitive skin in comparison to waxing! :)
I have naturally dark & thick Turkish eyebrows and really light skin so that makes it stand out more. I get them threaded every 2 weeks though. So they look much better this way.
It doesn't hurt any less or more than waxing in my opinion... it just takes longer. But the actual shape comes out a lot better than it would with waxing. I would not recommend anyone to get threading done on ANYwhere except for the eyebrows. Anywhere else... it's just super painful.
i try and try but i cant thread myself -.- like im too friggin stupid lol its so frustratin cuz i got my face threaded too and it didnt hurt but was sumwhat expensive and i wanna do it myself to save the money...but dunno...im too dumb haha :P
the first time i had my eyebrows threaded, i never plucked before so it was sooo painful for me , i think i handled it pretty well thouqh , i can handle a certain amount of pain . I've done it aqain a couple of times, it did not hurt any less than before, but i am so happy with the results. the hair qrows back slower than waxinq * or ive heard. i cant qet my eyebrows waxed, bcuz the first time i did it , it burned my skin, its very sensitive to wax.
i can handle pain pretty well ... ive always gotten my eyebrows waxed never bothered me one bit.. then i got my eyebrows threaded and no lie i thought she was cutting my skin open everytime the threading lady turned around i was feeling my eyebrows to see in they were bleeding it felt like a burning cut sensation ... but (its not horrible) i still occasionally get it done when i want a nice sharp angled arch but id rather get waxed its cheaper and quicker around here
CyyNguyen: no..waxing, threading, or plucking with tweezers pulls the hair out at the root. if will grow back thinner, or simply the same thickness as it was originally. it's when you shave the hair that it appears to grow back thicker, because shaving just removes the top portion of the hair, leaving it blunt. that's why it grows back scratchy and coarse (it's not actually thicker, just looks and feels that way). hope that helps :)
With threading yes a bit but with wax it doesnt come thick..I used to do threading for eyebrows which I didnt like that much. I prefer waxing as its quick (may be one time pain) and cleaner
I really liked the results of my eyebrows after threading, but since I have such sensitive skin I got major irritation that looked like little pimples :(
I thread my eyebrows myself and I do it for some of my family members aswell I find it less painful than tweezing personally but I only do it on eyebrows and to line up my boyfriends facial hair.... I have tried waxing but I really didn't like it because I didn't think it gave a very nice shape and she made my eyebrows to thin so I was put off :-)
omgoodness...my first time was horrible too but it does get better after the first couple times. i have sensitive skin so i prefer this method over waxing b/c i can avoid breaking out. i would definitely advise everyone to try it at least once if they have problems w/ breaking out after they get waxed.
@sweetmemories08 Idk if you got an answer.... but umm when I went with my friend to get her face threaded ( I was to scared to do it -_-), the lady put on this waxy thing on your face before they tread it. So they put the waxy product first.... if that makes sense... lol
I have been threading my facial hairs for about 3 or 4 yrs now & i say its alot better than waxing, it was a little stingy the first time - (like anything done for the first time : -) ) but because the hair is pulled from the root, hair grows back finer & i don't have big fat roots coming through my skin so i hardly feel it as painful anymore and the best part is the longer i stuck with it the longer periods of time it needs to be redone. I do hope you give it another try because its worth it
waxing & threading are too very different things of course in the end they both do the same thing...pull the UNwanted hair out,my opinion is threading feels exactly like tweezing... as for waxing, it pulls off the first layer of dead skin and the UNwanted hair but at the same time your not supposed to put makeup for 24hrs. on the skin that's waxed because all the pores are still open which i find is the downfall for the foundation lovers...so in the end waxing is quicker but more expensive
i thread my eyebrows and upperlip too just because waxing pulls off my skin every single time! i have very sensitive skin. i actually learned how to thread on youtube lol
i really think if you have acne you shouldnt threat..cause it pull your hair from the roots to ensure maximum hair growth for the longest time.dont do it well actually depends on where your acne is
omg..i did it today too! Its was so PAINFUL for me! I was screaming and yelling all the way while she consoled me by saying beauty needs sacrifises! Gosh......!
I had a horrible experience with threading - and from a place with a GREAT reputation.
She cut my eyebrow with the thread and actually drew blood! I went to my cousin's wedding 2 days later with a big nasty scab on my eyebrow, YIKES!!!
I only ever ever wax now. A lil plucking between waxes, but that's it.
What are the advantages of threading are over waxing? Why is it so popular now? Waxing removes hair by the roots but threading only gets surface level, so waxing should last longer anyhow.
U mentioned it like burned a little the rest of the day. Use cooling gel. Its green and obviously cools, no burning or stinging sensation, the gel is awesome, ask her for some next time, they dont just offer it, although they should. Oh, andfor a more intense cool, just apply it and then get in front of your car ac. K, hope it helps, lemme know if it worked 4 ya.
hey xteeener! thanks for this vlog! i always get my eyebrows threaded. at first it hurt but now i got used to it. u just got to get used to it and then it wouldn't hurt as much. =)
ive been threading my brows for the last 6 1/2 years and i find it relatively painless (depends on who threads), not intolerable...but ive never had nerve to go beyond brows, like upper lips for instance..just seems too painful, such a sensitive area! :) thanks for sharing your experience. :)
okay, this seems strange to me because ive never heard of threading your whole face??? ive heard of threading eyebrows, but not the face, that is like going the extra mile, i dont think no one is that hairy on the face to do that.
Waxing doesn't cause hair to grow back all prickly, but I think threading does. Personally, waxing is just better because its quicker way to get the hair out, so its only like one rush of pain and then a little bit of stinging. :)
since I have really big pores on my upper lip because I have to shave it, if I got my upper lip waxed would it minimize the pores? and how long will it prevent it from having any hair grow again on my upper lip?
I actually didn't have that much trouble with threading. I'm blonde, so I just get my eyebrows done and nothing else. I pluck, though, so I guess I'm used to it.
I teared up, but it wasn't like the pain was that bad, it was just like when you're cutting onions, and you have no control over it. :)
i totally agree! i hateeeeee having thick eye brows and i gotta have them threaded like everymonth! lol! =D i'm very self conscious about my eyebrows looking like sasquatch. lols!=DD
i didnt know beauty /vanity would go up to the extent of entirely(cept for the eyebrows, lashes and nose hair cillia) exterminating facial hair.....sadistically....lol
iv got my eyebrows threaded for years, it has never hurt before, my eyes still tear up though, but not from pain. after threading your eyebrow area is red for a few hours, put i have been told you can put makeup over it. the hair definately grows back slower than if you plucked or waxed!
U shoudnt do face threading at this young age really not a good idea. but despite that threading is a great idea for eyebrows and upperlip and chin I love it it gives a really clean look.
i honestly find threading easier than waxing, the results look better because your skin won't get raised or puffy.
ALSO. if you are using differen topical cream DO NOT WAX. i went to a nail salon to get my brows done for homecoming and they didnt ask me if i was using any medication. so they went and did it anyways and i went to my dermatologist and she told me i was crazy for doing it while using differen. so DO THREADING,
I would recommend threading. I think that threading is the least harmful to your skin, no pulling and tugging that you get with waxing and no burning that comes the chemical hair removers. There are defiantly a few things that you should know before you try threading for the first time.
1. yes it is gonna hurt a little bit, but that lessens if you keep going on a regular basis.
2. skin prep before always helps, exfoliating the day or night before will help with the "flaky" skin thing.
I got my entire face threaded.. and.. it didn't hurt at all, but I do agree, the side's of your face is like the most sensitive but.. above all its well worth it.
One of the advantages I've experienced that puts threading over waxing for me is that with threading, a layer of my skin is not as likely to come off as would with waxing. I've found that I actually get swelling on my skin wherever I wax, and have even had bruising (when using cold wax systems... I totally don't recommend that one. :p) I like threading- it doesn't really hurt as much a tweezing for me. I think the hair actually grew back thinner and slower with regular threading for me.
i get my eyebrows threaded all the time, it's the only way of removing facil hair that i've tried. then, after my eyebrows i get my upper lip waxed, and then the lady threads whatever was left. i want to get my whole face threaded because i'm so embrassed of the hair on my cheeks, but it will be wayyy to painful and i don't want small, stubby hairs on my cheeks while its growing back. by the way, the hair DOES NOT grow back thicker or darker, it just comes back as your normal hair.
Threading is removing hairs from a certain area of the body. It is done by twisting thread - the twists are at the middle and then the thread is moved by the hands towards the hair. When the twisted thread is close to hair, it acts like tweezing but continues to places with hair. Threading is recommended for people who want hair removed in a straight line. Hope this helps! =)

oh.. what happen with you teeth? such a chain on the lovely face, though still lovely .... what a pity..... please tell me it is just your fashion ;-)
she sounded like she got her whole facial hair removal?? why? doesnt she only have hair on the eyebrows. dont think its worth getting for just peach fuzz that nobody will notice.
i always get my eyebrows done by thread. i've never tried anything different. plus at the mall they charge me from $7-$10!!! i get them done every 2 months.
I kinda get tiny red bumps on my hands and legs when I get them waxed. These tiny bumps last for a few hours before going away. Could someone please tell me how I can prevent and/or reduce the bumpiness and pain?
Waxing and plucking can cause wrinkles on the face... thats why threading is a great alternative, especially your eyebrows. And when you wax, they have an oil that their supposed to apply on your leg before they wax to prevent leaving wax behind and then they're supposed to apply something to prevent the bumps and the burn, especially for sensitive skin.
QUESTION: I was just wondering if waxing your face would cause you to get premature wrinkles because it's like really tugging on the skin on your face. Would you suggest threading the face or waxing?
if you're prone to breakouts like me, I think threading is a better option than waxing. the waxy residue and the soothing lotion applied afterward always give me a nasty breakout. I guess it all depends on your skin type and how long you want to spend in the beautician's chair. waxing isn't any less painful, it's just over more quickly.
what do you think is the best way to remove facial hair?

CyyNguyen: no..waxing, threading, or plucking with tweezers pulls the hair out at the root. if will grow back thinner, or simply the same thickness as it was originally. it's when you shave the hair that it appears to grow back thicker, because shaving just removes the top portion of the hair, leaving it blunt. that's why it grows back scratchy and coarse (it's not actually thicker, just looks and feels that way). hope that helps :)

I just started threading 6months ago.
It doesn't hurt that much. :D
vivienneMK 2 years ago 2
ive been threading my brows for the last 6 1/2 years and i find it relatively painless (depends on who threads), not intolerable...but ive never had nerve to go beyond brows, like upper lips for instance..just seems too painful, such a sensitive area! :) thanks for sharing your experience. :)
VitaminGee 2 years ago
okay, this seems strange to me because ive never heard of threading your whole face??? ive heard of threading eyebrows, but not the face, that is like going the extra mile, i dont think no one is that hairy on the face to do that.
utub3us3rnam3 2 years ago
Does it grow back prickly? I'm afraid that it'll grow back prickly and that's why I don't remove any facial hair except my eyebrows. :/
guitargirlae 2 years ago 2
Waxing doesn't cause hair to grow back all prickly, but I think threading does. Personally, waxing is just better because its quicker way to get the hair out, so its only like one rush of pain and then a little bit of stinging. :)

since I have really big pores on my upper lip because I have to shave it, if I got my upper lip waxed would it minimize the pores? and how long will it prevent it from having any hair grow again on my upper lip?
vickyt62294 2 years ago
yes after waxing the pores do close up a bit more and the skin is a lot more soft and 'clean' looking
usually waxing upperlip leaves it clean 1-2 weeks, depends on your individual hair growth time
but overall people say waxing/threading may cause hair growth a lot more slowly overall the hair is thinner and less noticable
RUSTxSTARDUST 2 years ago 3
ohh okayy thanks!! :) ^__^
vickyt62294 2 years ago
how much does it normally cost?
jdosn09 2 years ago
threading costs me 8 dollars its not that expensive and doesnt hurt like waxing does..and by going there often i just learned 2 thread eyebrows!!

beauty is pain. beauty is love. Haha. when I get my face waxed, the cheeks hurts the worst.

i just recently got my face waxed and im blotchy as hell. do you know how i can stop this? :(
Kazaargh22 2 years ago
i don't think threading hurts all that much and its quite easy to do by yourself
pursebuzz has an awesome tutorial for threading def check that out ^^
x2kcnguyen 2 years ago 3
I actually didn't have that much trouble with threading. I'm blonde, so I just get my eyebrows done and nothing else. I pluck, though, so I guess I'm used to it.
I teared up, but it wasn't like the pain was that bad, it was just like when you're cutting onions, and you have no control over it. :)
rainbowcrayons1592 2 years ago 2
hey, I have one quesiton made me confused all the time, how do you keep your make up clean and beauty? I mean not mess up .
yuanyuanchu 2 years ago
to me threading hurts A LOT less than just threading.
its not bad at all, lol..maybe because im indian & threading is all we do, aha
caliichicks101 2 years ago
the first time i got my upperlip threaded, the lady who did it for me suggested putting aloe on it to soothe the pain, and it did!
nikixchou 2 years ago 2
omg threading does soo not hurt me?! getting my eyebrows done is really painless but the upper lip kinda hurts the most but its not 2 bad.
ndkhatri130 2 years ago

why would you get your whole face threaded?

I have had my eyebrows threaded before. It hurts like a bitch but it is more detailed shape than if they were to wax it.

I don't understand! In Italy EVERY girl uses to take off her facial hair. Wax,tweezers..it's the same! You pull your hair out

its like waxing cause they take off your hair but instead of doing it with wax it takes it off with a thread

iv got my eyebrows threaded for years, it has never hurt before, my eyes still tear up though, but not from pain. after threading your eyebrow area is red for a few hours, put i have been told you can put makeup over it. the hair definately grows back slower than if you plucked or waxed!

U shoudnt do face threading at this young age really not a good idea. but despite that threading is a great idea for eyebrows and upperlip and chin I love it it gives a really clean look.

This sounds quite painful...but it is probably better for your skin than waxing. I live in a semi-rural area...what kind of places offer threading?
stayckay 2 years ago
thnx 4 sharin!!!!!!!!!!!!
glamourcoutour94 2 years ago
it doesnt hurt for everyone..depends on you and your skin. like it doesnt hurt at all for me, but my cousin found it really painful.
sweetluv322 2 years ago
i honestly find threading easier than waxing, the results look better because your skin won't get raised or puffy.
ALSO. if you are using differen topical cream DO NOT WAX. i went to a nail salon to get my brows done for homecoming and they didnt ask me if i was using any medication. so they went and did it anyways and i went to my dermatologist and she told me i was crazy for doing it while using differen. so DO THREADING,

pursebuzz does a video on how to do your own threading.
also you can use an eye-brow shaper to remove unwanted facial hair. =] hope that helped!
katelynmarie923 2 years ago
I would recommend threading. I think that threading is the least harmful to your skin, no pulling and tugging that you get with waxing and no burning that comes the chemical hair removers. There are defiantly a few things that you should know before you try threading for the first time.
1. yes it is gonna hurt a little bit, but that lessens if you keep going on a regular basis.
2. skin prep before always helps, exfoliating the day or night before will help with the "flaky" skin thing.
lew8383 2 years ago
o.O sounds painful, if ur face isnt lyk really hairy i woouldnt do it
xPackyx 2 years ago
I got my entire face threaded.. and.. it didn't hurt at all, but I do agree, the side's of your face is like the most sensitive but.. above all its well worth it.
morbidgrin 2 years ago
One of the advantages I've experienced that puts threading over waxing for me is that with threading, a layer of my skin is not as likely to come off as would with waxing. I've found that I actually get swelling on my skin wherever I wax, and have even had bruising (when using cold wax systems... I totally don't recommend that one. :p) I like threading- it doesn't really hurt as much a tweezing for me. I think the hair actually grew back thinner and slower with regular threading for me.

i get my eyebrows threaded all the time, it's the only way of removing facil hair that i've tried. then, after my eyebrows i get my upper lip waxed, and then the lady threads whatever was left. i want to get my whole face threaded because i'm so embrassed of the hair on my cheeks, but it will be wayyy to painful and i don't want small, stubby hairs on my cheeks while its growing back. by the way, the hair DOES NOT grow back thicker or darker, it just comes back as your normal hair.
harrypttrfrek 2 years ago
why would you thread your face...

I heard from some people that the hair that will grow back after you've threaded your face will be thicker. Is that true? How does it go for you?

waxing and threading hurts more when you are on your period. Also depends on the area. My grandma did my armpits for me once and it hurt pretty bad.
m0rena85 2 years ago 2
i had no idea that there would be a lot of discomfort.. it probably wouldn't have been as bad if it were just your eyebrows

Krisstiii 2 years ago 3
what is threading?!
BlondieGurlii 2 years ago
Threading is removing hairs from a certain area of the body. It is done by twisting thread - the twists are at the middle and then the thread is moved by the hands towards the hair. When the twisted thread is close to hair, it acts like tweezing but continues to places with hair. Threading is recommended for people who want hair removed in a straight line. Hope this helps! =)

I kinda get tiny red bumps on my hands and legs when I get them waxed. These tiny bumps last for a few hours before going away. Could someone please tell me how I can prevent and/or reduce the bumpiness and pain?
DivaliciousCandy82 2 years ago 2
Waxing and plucking can cause wrinkles on the face... thats why threading is a great alternative, especially your eyebrows. And when you wax, they have an oil that their supposed to apply on your leg before they wax to prevent leaving wax behind and then they're supposed to apply something to prevent the bumps and the burn, especially for sensitive skin.
PageMonroe1212 2 years ago
QUESTION: I was just wondering if waxing your face would cause you to get premature wrinkles because it's like really tugging on the skin on your face. Would you suggest threading the face or waxing?
DivaliciousCandy82 2 years ago

if you're prone to breakouts like me, I think threading is a better option than waxing. the waxy residue and the soothing lotion applied afterward always give me a nasty breakout. I guess it all depends on your skin type and how long you want to spend in the beautician's chair. waxing isn't any less painful, it's just over more quickly.
