I'm not saying that I think there is some shady circle pulling strings on Obama, but really, there is no question that he leaped into the spotlight from absolutely nowhere.
Obama spoke at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. There, he was asked if he planned to run for President in '08. Obama responded absolutely no, there was no way he'd be experienced nor capable enough for the position. That was the last we'd heard of him til suddenly he's in the forefront for the primaries.

An objective, anti-Right Wing Israeli scholar of wide breadth and sensitivity may one day take up the subject of just how much Israeli Right Wing racism is a product of Right Wing German Jews in Israel and of American Jews like Kahane.
Arab culture through most of its history was completely lacking in anti-Semitism.
And in fact most Arabs, though increasingly pressured intoanti-Zionism politically, are less anti-Semitic than the Neo-Cons' and Zionist's Right Wing US allies.
Moreover, the Right Wing Israelis move mountains to define Arabs as a an inferior "race" to their US anti-Semitic allies.
The unholy alliance between the Born Again and the Neo-Cons is hilarious.
Strauss, the philosophical guru of the Neo-Cons, was a Jew who admired the Nazis. Many of the Neo-Cons are Jews who engineered the alliance with most anti-Semitic part of the US population--the Born Again.
The Right Wing Israelis have also moved mountains to encourage Zionism in the anti-Semitic Fundmentalists as a political tool garnering them political support in the US.
Are the Republicans motivated by race? The party as a whole, no. But are they willing to race bait and accept racisim and racists in their tent so long as it serves their agenda--oh you bet!

We're already in an ideological civil war that has been brewing for decades, which will boil over at some point, either in the form of secession by one or more regions of the country, or in the form of war and/or secession as in the first American Civil War.
But, I see secession as the more likely scenario if the polarization continues on its current trajectory.
For the Obama adminstration not to go forward with prosecutions of Bush adminsitration officials, from Bush himself through Cheney through Yoo, for a host of offenses, ranging from unconstitutional and illegal conduct to war crimes is a serious transgreesion in itself. There are laws in place that actually require the Obama administration to prosecute some of these crimes.

There is no longer any serious argument on that point--and there have been several serious studies.
That is sufficient definition of a war crime.
Another study establishes that at least 70 percent of those killed by American bombing are women and children.
A massive Paulista income tax protest at the Washington Monument--burning their 1040's, every man and woman carrying a duly regirstered assault rifle!
Simply as a matter of tactics, the Right should likely be encouraged to vent their violent tendencies and declarations.
Ron Paul and Palin and Romney, with Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh at their head, in bandeliers shooting pistolas into the air as they charge the Lincoln Memorial to take the country "back".
And why send a Putonghua-speaking former Mormon Missionary to mainland China as ambassador when there are so many fully capable Cantonese, who have been American citizens for long generations?
Why send a Cubano semi-gusano to Mexico as ambassador?
And I will tell you one thing, no many how capable this Mormon missionary is in spoken putonghua, he is not "fluent in Chinese", either as a matter of language or of culture.
He is a bullshit round-eye predatory capitalist fuckhead.
The US is still half a century behind Japan or Ludwig Erhard's "Intervention Capitalism", which the Right Wing, including the crypto-Racist Paulist Randians, are still calling "Socialist" and "Communist".
That's right, folks, according to these fucking Stone Age Morons--Germany is a fucking Communist Country.
The US has no public health insurance, no social welfare to speak of, no free higher education, etc. while the Corporatists get bailed out with Federal Tax money.
This is capitalism all right--Finance Capitalism in its last predatory monopolistic, parasitic stage..
A little advice to the Left-STOP being polite and kiss-ass and shy with the Right Wing, including the Paulistas, and also including the Imperialist Fascist Wing of the Democrats.
Right now Obama is mapping out another LBJ interlude for himself.
By the way, have you ever considered making video as opposed to filling up comment sections with with seemingly random questions directed at no one in particular?
Not to be rude, but presenting your opinions in a series of videos would be a better way to get heard.
And now you're being an ass for no apparent reason. I'm sure people really take you seriously, though I would compare your methods of expression to those of a troll.
How about Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Bremer, Yoo, Feith, Perle, Wolfovitz, Prince, et al. prosecuted as thieves and war criminals and sent to a Federal penitentiary for a very long time, or interred in Europe?
Wow Cenk you should look at the polls on Facebook. I figured out that the majority of Republicans believed Obama had a secret socialist agenda a long time ago.
The paranoia of the Socialist boogeyman has a long, sad history and has gained momentum under the influence of the Religious Right and the Moral "Majority."
As a matter of fact, the Fundamentalist Christians have used the inordinate, irrational fear of Socialism as a platform to gain influence in politics, so that the Republican Party is now a de facto theocracy.
Whatever happened to the separation of church and state?
De facto theocracy--brilliant turn of phrase, cheugon.
Historically, none of these elites survive without mesmerizing the oppressed with an appeal to some higher power than their own all too human, shit spewing tripes.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If you can's see Obama is lying to you thin you need to get your head out of Obama ass!CNN is covering hem lying over and over! You don't get it!It is not lift or right or white or black it is the GOV'T we don't like DUMB ASS!
If you can't defeat the argument, attack the person, right?
Criticizing a person's spelling is nothing more than a variation of the classical "straw man" tactic and has nothing to do with the discussion at hand. Judge the argument by the points that are made, not by the spelling, or are you too ill-equipped for that?
The bottom line is that unless we have a strong public option in the final bill all of this will be for nothing. We need to keep the pressure on so please take a moment to sign the petitions in the comment section of my profile. There are several other resources in cluding phone numbers there as well that will help you become more active. Thanks.
haha ok man, you're dumb as fuck or you're a troll but either way, you're getting more and more ridiculous by the second. no one is talking about race, and there's no need to compare Bush and Obama. Bush (thank god) will never run for president again, and will never hold any political power in this country.
crying? i'm laughing at you. this video stated that many GOP voters do NOT count race as a factor, but you're obviously too stupid to comprehend. you've got it ass backwards, genius.
seriously though, what do Republicans have going for them right now? all they have is a bunch of sensationalist, fear mongering corporate TOOLS spewing utter garbage and nonsense 24/7. do you remember what happened the LAST time we had a Republican president? OOPS!
LOL yeah man, they don't have anything going for them except for the executive branch, control over the senate and house, and a recovering economy...so what exactly does the GOP have going for them? Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin? BAHAHAHA
This is bullshit, I worked as a pollster and talked and interviewed thousands of people a day pertaining to political surveys. I can't tell you how many times i heard the word nigger. They assumed I was white and even when surveys had nothing to do with race, their racism shined brighter than the sun. Another interesting note; it was mostly republicans but many older democrats were overtly racist and one man even claimed that the word nigger was OK. "We say it all the time", he said.
It's regional. In Texas yea they'll use the n word and say it's ok and not racist. There is a "politically correct" closet racism that still exists that people are reluctant to call racism because it is not overt like racism in the past had been. In the new racisim people of color can be accused of dubious intentions on that basis alone and others require evidence before an accusation can be leveled.
I have not seen it yet, but there is probably someone teaching "the philosophy of philosophy" somewhere, or trying to, poor fellow, the way Ogden and Richards tried their hand at "the meaning of meaning."
That is ambiguous again--the criteria held by someone who is a philosopher or the criteria that someone might judge that a person is a philosopher, as a opposed to say, a professor of philosophy?
It's a way to determine HOW CAREFULLY something should be scrutinized before it's reasonable to accept it as being true (if you take a position on it at all).
So what I mean is that confidence in a source is a decent way to determine how closely their claims should be scrutinized.
In the relativity example, Einstein's work was extremely thoroughly scrutinized. Many scientists didn't want it to be true because of how strange it was.
Interestingly enough, Russell and the Logicists were certainly blown away by Goedel, but a little mimeographed few pages did the trick, from a relative unknown.
Appeal to authority is a logical fallacy, but I'm not using it in formal logic, rather as an indicator of reliability. In this case, I'm not talking about proof, only how skeptical I should be about a given set of assertions.
The Discovery Institute is a creationism (or "intelligent design") advocacy group which tries to disprove evolution. They have a religious motive to disprove an accepted scientific theory, therefore I'm going to scrutinize their claims more closely.
Not a good policy--scrutinize ALL claims carefully.
What you are right to suspect, pretty clearly from what I just read, is every "argument" they come up with will be all one way, and no contrary argument will be given.
Like PR or a prosecutor in court.
Horrible system to determine "truth" about anything.
what so just because barack came from a modest background, made a career out of pure talent, and wasn't seemingly prepped for a career in politics, like I'm sure many republicans were, that means he used some secret means ti become a politician? idiots
So am I wrong to say that anything coming out of the Discovery Institute is suspect because of their motives to convince people that evolution is a lie?
Well motive can be considered as a form of evidence, making the claim less believable (to what extent depends on the individual case and is indeed quite subjective).
A lack of motive is not evidence for the truth of a claim, it is a lack of evidence for it's falsity. (I'm using "evidence" in the scientific sense, where it doesn't "prove/disprove" a claim, but adds/removes confidence of it).
Is there a way to block these idiots?

The paranoia of the Socialist boogeyman has a long, sad history and has gained momentum under the influence of the Religious Right and the Moral "Majority."
As a matter of fact, the Fundamentalist Christians have used the inordinate, irrational fear of Socialism as a platform to gain influence in politics, so that the Republican Party is now a de facto theocracy.

This is bullshit, I worked as a pollster and talked and interviewed thousands of people a day pertaining to political surveys. I can't tell you how many times i heard the word nigger. They assumed I was white and even when surveys had nothing to do with race, their racism shined brighter than the sun. Another interesting note; it was mostly republicans but many older democrats were overtly racist and one man even claimed that the word nigger was OK. "We say it all the time", he said.
TheYTfake 2 years ago 3
It's regional. In Texas yea they'll use the n word and say it's ok and not racist. There is a "politically correct" closet racism that still exists that people are reluctant to call racism because it is not overt like racism in the past had been. In the new racisim people of color can be accused of dubious intentions on that basis alone and others require evidence before an accusation can be leveled.

Well sure, their titles may be a bit ridiculous, but that in itself doesn't really say much about their philosophizing.
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 2 years ago
both I suppose
the criteria held by someone who is a philosopher
or the criteria that someone might judge a person is a philosopher
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 2 years ago
I have not seen it yet, but there is probably someone teaching "the philosophy of philosophy" somewhere, or trying to, poor fellow, the way Ogden and Richards tried their hand at "the meaning of meaning."
mopsius 2 years ago
What would you say are the criteria of a philosopher?
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 2 years ago
That is ambiguous again--the criteria held by someone who is a philosopher or the criteria that someone might judge that a person is a philosopher, as a opposed to say, a professor of philosophy?
mopsius 2 years ago
Most professors of philosophy nowadays, for example, tend to have "Ph.D's in philosophy".
In the long form then they are "Doctors of philosophy in philosophy."
That's quite a handicap to overcome.
mopsius 2 years ago
In a sense. Though I've never actually taken a formal philosophy class (I was making good use of Google during that exchange).
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 2 years ago
In an academic context, both "philosophy" and "philosopher" are ambiguous.
A professor of philosophy, for example, is not necessarily a philosopher at all--in fact probably is not, though there are some exceptions.
mopsius 2 years ago
So too with "linguist".
A member of the linguistics department is not necessarily a "linguist", though he or she may be.
mopsius 2 years ago
When Hegel and Schopenhauer were teaching both were actually "philosophers".
Hegel was very popular, Schopehnauer often gave his lectures to an empty room.
Literally empty.
That is almost sufficient to determine who was the greater philosopher.
Schopenhauer, it almost goes without saying.
mopsius 2 years ago
Are you by any chance a philosophy student?
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 2 years ago
"Philosophy student"--hmmmm.
After Empson that is a bit ambiguous.
mopsius 2 years ago
Just to have a little fun--"philosophy student by random mutation" as well?
mopsius 2 years ago
I never said "scrutinize ALL claims carefully."
It's a way to determine HOW CAREFULLY something should be scrutinized before it's reasonable to accept it as being true (if you take a position on it at all).
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 2 years ago
I said it--"Scrutinize ALL claims carefully"--not you.
mopsius 2 years ago
my bad..
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 2 years ago
No problem.
mopsius 2 years ago
So what I mean is that confidence in a source is a decent way to determine how closely their claims should be scrutinized.
In the relativity example, Einstein's work was extremely thoroughly scrutinized. Many scientists didn't want it to be true because of how strange it was.
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 2 years ago
The Special Theory was a very short paper.
Interestingly enough, Russell and the Logicists were certainly blown away by Goedel, but a little mimeographed few pages did the trick, from a relative unknown.
Logicians and mathematicians are a different lot.
mopsius 2 years ago
Intelligent Design versus Random Mutation is a specious duality.
Like Nurture versus Nature or Free Will versus Determinism.
mopsius 2 years ago
Appeal to authority is a logical fallacy, but I'm not using it in formal logic, rather as an indicator of reliability. In this case, I'm not talking about proof, only how skeptical I should be about a given set of assertions.
The Discovery Institute is a creationism (or "intelligent design") advocacy group which tries to disprove evolution. They have a religious motive to disprove an accepted scientific theory, therefore I'm going to scrutinize their claims more closely.
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 2 years ago
Not a good policy--scrutinize ALL claims carefully.
What you are right to suspect, pretty clearly from what I just read, is every "argument" they come up with will be all one way, and no contrary argument will be given.
Like PR or a prosecutor in court.
Horrible system to determine "truth" about anything.
mopsius 2 years ago
what so just because barack came from a modest background, made a career out of pure talent, and wasn't seemingly prepped for a career in politics, like I'm sure many republicans were, that means he used some secret means ti become a politician? idiots
spazabarri 2 years ago
What I mean is that motive is evidence of what evidence is reliable (it increases/decreases our confidence in a source).
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 2 years ago
You are back to confidence in a source.
Argumentum ad auctoritatem.
Relativity would have easily been "disproved" that way when it first appeared.
mopsius 2 years ago
Ah, the Intelligent Design people.
I just looked it up.
mopsius 2 years ago
So am I wrong to say that anything coming out of the Discovery Institute is suspect because of their motives to convince people that evolution is a lie?
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 2 years ago
No. But perhaps you are not saying quite what you think you are saying.
"To suspect" is not the same as "to have evidence."
I know nothing of this "Discovery Institute".
Does not ring a bell. What is it?
mopsius 2 years ago
X has a insurance policy to the beneficiary Y for $1,000,000.
X gets bumped off in a suspicious manner but one in which the beneficiary Y will be paid.
Did Y have motive? Sure in one sense, but that is an external application of concept motive.
That's no evidence just a sign about where one might look.
mopsius 2 years ago
Well motive can be considered as a form of evidence, making the claim less believable (to what extent depends on the individual case and is indeed quite subjective).
A lack of motive is not evidence for the truth of a claim, it is a lack of evidence for it's falsity. (I'm using "evidence" in the scientific sense, where it doesn't "prove/disprove" a claim, but adds/removes confidence of it).
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 2 years ago
No, motive is no evidence at all.
That's purely rhetorical.
Motive is useful to pursue avenues leading to evidence.
mopsius 2 years ago
OF COURSE!!! At least in part.
juliact 2 years ago
Similarly lack of motive, or lack of discernible motive (a different thing), means nothing as evidence or proof, positive or negative.
mopsius 2 years ago
That's true, but why do we always need definitive answers?
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 2 years ago
It's partly cultural suspect.
mopsius 2 years ago
I suspect
mopsius 2 years ago
Motive is vastly overestimated as an indication of who did what to whom.
