@baphomet1978 Welcome to free speech in America... You are welcome to lampoon whom ever you like... BTW, if listen long enough, you will here the character is quite sharp & has a great deal of common-sense in her way. I think stupid people will go on thinking people who resemble her are stupid & smart people will gain the understanding that the way people who dont resemble them, physically or culturally, often are far wiser & perceptive than they initially assumed. Open your mind...
@baphomet1978 Okay using your thoughts on this let's look at any Black comic today who without difference step back in time to when this very voice, avitouve. micanave, and errery thang else was spokes! Shirley is nothing more than repeting our histories and if'a you dat iganat than Lawd help ya! THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH AND WILL SET YOU FREE! Grammicals dus not makes you smart.....it's called wisdom! Black people need to get "THEIR act together veiwtube" there are white people that are in the same light meaning needing to get their act together,,,,,We "the intelligent people of the world of all races and backgrounds know Humor. Get over it laugh with the rest of us.
Shirley Q. Liquor has been making me laugh for 10 years. And the reason why she is so damn funny is because there are people actually like this! People who are offended, well... you can either choose to just not listen to her or you can continue to complain, if you please. But, seriously! If you are offended by such perceptive, humorous fare as Shirley Q. Liquor, then I'd say you have a long, hard road in front of you!!! And I bet you that most black people like her!
Gay supporters of this racist humor are fools. We need to respect all humans and build bridges with the African American Community if we are ever going to get support for equal rights to marry and the recission of DADT. Shirley Q Liquor wrapped in a confederate flag accent and black face make-up is an insult to all minorities. Remember that the next time you hear a right wing personality make homophobic comments in a fake GAY accent. Shirley Q Liquor is the enemy within.
@daneilmadrid LOL your gay this is racist and its funny as hell. Also gays shouldnt be able to adopt because no matter how much you try to pack a turd it dosnt become a baby peace out.
I'm glad there is this kind of character. White liberals whine that this is racist but they know in their hearts this stereotype DOES exist everywhere and black folk need to see this in order for them to know how bad they look through the eyes of society. Call it racist, call it hate, call it whatever you want. The truth is what it is and the truth doesn't go away. Black people need to get their acts together.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Question: I was just wondering how many blacks and whites and anybody of any other racial/ethnic background has responded to this? Honestly, the age all response will be that most people who don't think this is racist are probably white while those who are offended are everybody else.
Actually it's surprising at how many white people(or people who aren't black) with sticks up their *sses find things offensive that are clearly meant for comedic purposes and not meant to hurt anyone. Just because someone is using a racial stereotype to make jokes doesn't mean they are racist. Thats why they call it a comedic act. Thats what makes people like Tracy Ullman and Sarah Silverman so funny. Remove the stick, and maybe you'll find your sense of humor.
I think it is pretty hilarious when Margaret Cho does "Mommy" and I have seen some very funny imitations of white people by black comedians including in the movie "White Chicks"
just to note, I don't know of any body on this Earth that isn't from some different racial background. I myself have Irish, of course, French, Dutch, German, English, American Indian, and who knows, maybe even some African American; that's probably why I can dance so good.
All of Shirley Q. Liqiuor's videos are just the thing anyone needs to have a good laugh. Being from the south, I understand how the culture is. I don't see anything racist or sexist about any of it. Who the hell invented the word racist and sexist anyway? They need their ass removed. People need to laugh more and quit being so dam serious. You go Shirley !
@Deputydog1956 This is a white person person in "blackface". This is widely regarded as a racist activity. Get with the program, idiot. You obviously need education: en. wikipedia. org /wiki/Blackface

Dear "Pimp"alan, I am not ranting, but rather simply referring to the racist historical background of "minstrel" shows (aka "white" people portraying negative racial stereotypes in "black" faces). Also, the main difference between Chris Rock's and the Wayan's Brothers performances and that of Shirley Q. Liquor's performances is that there is a long time racist history behind white men in black faces (beginning in the early 1800's)
(aka minstrel shows) that has adversely affected African Americans throughout American history. Please refer to my postings on Church Slave for further insight. I am not being a hypocrite, because I do not speak for all African Americans. This is a "comments & responses" section, where like you, I am able to post my opinions regarding my views and the views of many African Americans who find Shirley Q. Liquor racially insensitive and degrading.
This simply is not "hilarious" to a group of people who have been systematically victimized by this type of stereotypical humor throughout U.S. history. Getting a cheap laugh to make fun of ethnic stereotypes (particularly by a Caucasian male in black face) is not a joke to millions of African Americans who have faced discrimination solely on the basis of their race for centuries.
I found your comments to be tasteless I can make the same arguments as it pertains such people as Chris Rock (How many times does he begin his jokes with "Why is it that white people always..."?) and also by the Wayans Brother's performance in "White Chicks" to name just two. If you can provide us with some sort of justification for this, that does not also apply to Miss Liquor's act, then we can consider listening to your ranting. Otherwise, stop being a hypocrite!
Furthermore, comments such as "lighten up" etc. that I have read really highlight the need for diversity training/awareness even within the gay community. You would think that a community which has experienced gay bashings, discrimination in employment and housing as well as violations of their equal rights in regards to partnership rights etc. would be more sensitive to how offensive this material is to African Americans.
It should be noted that many African Americans didn't "lighten up" when Isaiah Washington (formerly of Grey's Anatomy) made derogatory comments about the sexuality of his colleague. Many African American people I spoke to were greatly offended that a man who knows what it is like to be discriminated against would say such things. On the other hand, at least he apologized publicly and privately and tried to make amends by doing commercials promoting tolerance.
The performer "Shirley Q. Liquor" makes no apologies for his actions even when individuals directly state that this material is offensive to them. As Martin Luther King once said "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere". And this type of offensive humor is an injustice to millions of Americans (both African American & Caucasian) who risked their lives fighting for civil rights in America.
It should also be noted that the civil rights movement paved the way for the gay rights movement in America and the least these performers could do is acknowledge that regardless if "Shirley Q. Liquor" is "hilarious" to them, that it is in fact a painful reminder to many African Americans of how media was used to degrade and humiliate African Americans throughout U.S. history.
An enlightened mind would do well to ponder these points and commence upon a thorough study of the history of how media perpetuated the notion of blacks as an inferior race AND the methods used to do so (which includes black faced stereotypical acting Caucasian performers).
And when people are treated and viewed as nothing but objects of ridicule and viewed as effectively "non-human", then any action could be done to them to validate the need of certain ethnic groups to be a "supreme race" (these actions included slavery, lynching, segregation, rape and murder).
This same dehumanization process through the use of media was unfortunately used against Jewish people by the Nazi regime as well. The dehumanization of African Americans paved the way for "Jim Crow" laws as well as segregation. It should be noted that the powers that be knew that if black people were viewed as something to be laughed at, ridiculed and inferior, that the end result would be that they would be viewed as not really "human".
This dehumanization through media included black faced Caucasian performers, images of black people eating watermelon, images comparing black people to monkeys and the list goes on and on. This type of negative/racist media paved the way for the acceptance of lynching and the murder of black people with no recourse against the Caucasian perpetrators.
Historically, these types of displays of so-called "funny" stereotypical performances are part of the first steps in dehumanizing a group of people which allows "races" with the tendency to oppress other ethnic groups to psychologically feel that they can physically harm them. For example, there were many stereotypical images of black people throughout the 19th and 20th centuries that specifically dehumanized them.
I don't think people really want to accept how African Americans have been mistreated and degraded throughout the history of this country, because if they did, they would request that this performer stop degrading black people forthwith! "Funny"? This is racist and insensitive! I suggest everyone start by renting "Unforgivable Blackness" for a history lesson on how black people were/are viewed & how racism is alive & well in this country.
There is a need for more enlightenment on the subject of "race" in America. How can one "lighten up" to this disgraceful stereotyping of black southern females? Black people have gone through too many horrors to tolerate this stereotyped "mammy" impersonator! And the fact that the performer is gay and knows first hand about hate and how hate leads to gay bashing and discrimination is one of the most troubling points of this discussion.
I absolutely LOVE Betty and Shirley! I feel like I'm hangin' out with a good friend. They have really been a saving grace for me lately while I've been going through some rough times. I am so thankful for them!!!!
i am a native american hetero female, so i don't want to hear about oppression...i love Shirley Q and Betty Butterfield and i wish all those other people out there would just lighten up and smile and quit worrin' about every stupid little thing...she's beautiful, she's funny and she rocks
*LISTEN UP* ----- I am of mixed race half black and half white----my black side finds this freakin hilarious----my white side thinks it might offend someone----i think whites tend to care too much about others feelings----screw being politically correct, after all look where that has gotten us.... lol----this is funny by all means and if it makes you feel any better he also has a white character he plays----shirley q keep durrin ya thang gurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl
Black people make more fun of themselves and when a white person decides to do some comedy with it - they get belligerant and crazy. Sigh...whatever, Shirley rocks.
I can't think of anyone better to laugh at than all the no personality-having, pretentious, above-everyone, white bitches that I have 2 see @ work every Mon.-Fri., & what's so funny about them is that they truly believe they are morally & genetically pristine compared 2 everyone else.
Isaiah Washington homophobia is an outrage and this racist dickhead is funny? Check yourself privileged white gay America before you get too righteous.
Well Blacks Have had it bad for well over 200 years, but Homosexuals have had it bad for over 2000 yrs. and I am a gay man and a firefighter and my partner is a Pilot for Delta , you will never see us whining about Comedians making fun of us. Just laugh and you will feel better
are you as ignorant as your name, Fuck Shirley Q. I am a gay black womyn and who are you to say blacks have only had it bad for 200 years you racist prick.
Well then if balcks have had it bad for more than 200 yrs , you are going to have to give me Emperical proof. You lady ,have the burden of proof! By the way fowl language shows you IQ.
who cares about foul (note the spelling) language, learn how to spell....you are the reason there is a divide amongst black and white gays. You are the reason the conservatives, still consider gays evil and must be destroyed. to make fun of any body race, creed, or otherwise, is just not right. and actually, the 36 years i have been on this earth, as a black female, will more then double the turmoil, i have endured as a gay women, so there is no need to compare any further.
You still have not provided your burden of proof. Takling trash about my typo's will not improve your IQ. It only puts off, you Providing any Proof , or any Source. I have found Homosexuals largest Apponents to be African American, Because of fear of the what the bible says. little do they know the Bile is what started Slavery in America.
So your hatred towards Blacks is because "they" don't like Homosexuals. so me as a black gay womyn, must be double trouble, watch your back...lol... And i spell womyn that way because, i don't want "man" to be a part of who I am...so no need to correct me.
Where in the world did I say " I hated Blacks and women"? Now that is just paranoid! What is it with you? You can not have it both ways, The Wayne Brother's did the movie " white Chicks" So what does that look like to you? Get of your Paranoid Cycle and do something constructive, with your time
Trust me I am not going to have to watch my back, with you, I fear no one, especially, A bible person , I am an Atheist, and I stay clear of the " gospel Crowd" , they are useually uneducated and truthfully, beneath me. Luckily I live in Vermont .
You are nothing if you cant laugh at your self. taking ones self too seriusly is a sure fire road to damnation. if you want laugh at your self with people then you will forever be laughed at.
Again people, if you are going to rebuttal a comment made by me, please use correct spelling and grammar. I love to laugh, I can laugh with you, but I draw the line at laughing at a race. Black face and big red lips, is not laughter for the soul. Laugh with me, fags are sissy boys, who aren't man enough to be men. Is that funny?
Well I am a gay man and I rescue people from burning blds etc. and if thats a fag, or a sissy, then do not call the fire dept when in trouble , one of them may be a " fag" like me.
But see you still don't get it, I am a GAY woman.... do you see how offensive you just got by somebody making "FUN" of you. that is how it feels when somebody from another race, "tries" to depict what they think the other race is like.
Well I dont think you get it, Will and Grace and many movies and TV show have depicted gay men as fem decorators and Hair burners. none of which I am, and I know it, but I can still laugh
It's funny that you think he's attempting to represent an entire race. Rather, I see him creating a unique character based on characteristics from black Southern women he has met in his life. Shirley Q. Liquor is a real character! She has a personality. He's not trying to say, "this is what black women are like." And if that's what you're implying, you're wrong.
ahahahahahaha i love Shirley Q Liquor!!!! she was on the Bob and Tom Replay on 106.5 radio in charlotte NC doin the 12 days of Kwanza <(spelling?) and i laughed so hard

This shit's hilarious. You think he could get a way with this if he was straight?

I absolutely LOVE Betty and Shirley! I feel like I'm hangin' out with a good friend. They have really been a saving grace for me lately while I've been going through some rough times. I am so thankful for them!!!!

Well Blacks Have had it bad for well over 200 years, but Homosexuals have had it bad for over 2000 yrs. and I am a gay man and a firefighter and my partner is a Pilot for Delta , you will never see us whining about Comedians making fun of us. Just laugh and you will feel better
ClemClemens1111 5 years ago
LOL thats hilarious.
perryrico 5 years ago
are you as ignorant as your name, Fuck Shirley Q. I am a gay black womyn and who are you to say blacks have only had it bad for 200 years you racist prick.
libriumvideos 5 years ago
Well then if balcks have had it bad for more than 200 yrs , you are going to have to give me Emperical proof. You lady ,have the burden of proof! By the way fowl language shows you IQ.
ClemClemens1111 5 years ago
who cares about foul (note the spelling) language, learn how to spell....you are the reason there is a divide amongst black and white gays. You are the reason the conservatives, still consider gays evil and must be destroyed. to make fun of any body race, creed, or otherwise, is just not right. and actually, the 36 years i have been on this earth, as a black female, will more then double the turmoil, i have endured as a gay women, so there is no need to compare any further.
libriumvideos 5 years ago
You still have not provided your burden of proof. Takling trash about my typo's will not improve your IQ. It only puts off, you Providing any Proof , or any Source. I have found Homosexuals largest Apponents to be African American, Because of fear of the what the bible says. little do they know the Bile is what started Slavery in America.
ClemClemens1111 5 years ago
So your hatred towards Blacks is because "they" don't like Homosexuals. so me as a black gay womyn, must be double trouble, watch your back...lol... And i spell womyn that way because, i don't want "man" to be a part of who I am...so no need to correct me.
libriumvideos 5 years ago
Where in the world did I say " I hated Blacks and women"? Now that is just paranoid! What is it with you? You can not have it both ways, The Wayne Brother's did the movie " white Chicks" So what does that look like to you? Get of your Paranoid Cycle and do something constructive, with your time
ClemClemens1111 5 years ago
Trust me I am not going to have to watch my back, with you, I fear no one, especially, A bible person , I am an Atheist, and I stay clear of the " gospel Crowd" , they are useually uneducated and truthfully, beneath me. Luckily I live in Vermont .

You are nothing if you cant laugh at your self. taking ones self too seriusly is a sure fire road to damnation. if you want laugh at your self with people then you will forever be laughed at.
boportsmouth 5 years ago
Again people, if you are going to rebuttal a comment made by me, please use correct spelling and grammar. I love to laugh, I can laugh with you, but I draw the line at laughing at a race. Black face and big red lips, is not laughter for the soul. Laugh with me, fags are sissy boys, who aren't man enough to be men. Is that funny?
libriumvideos 5 years ago
sure. If you time it right.
boportsmouth 5 years ago
that was funny, i must admit. :)
libriumvideos 5 years ago
Well I am a gay man and I rescue people from burning blds etc. and if thats a fag, or a sissy, then do not call the fire dept when in trouble , one of them may be a " fag" like me.
ClemClemens1111 5 years ago
But see you still don't get it, I am a GAY woman.... do you see how offensive you just got by somebody making "FUN" of you. that is how it feels when somebody from another race, "tries" to depict what they think the other race is like.
libriumvideos 5 years ago
Well I dont think you get it, Will and Grace and many movies and TV show have depicted gay men as fem decorators and Hair burners. none of which I am, and I know it, but I can still laugh
ClemClemens1111 5 years ago
It's funny that you think he's attempting to represent an entire race. Rather, I see him creating a unique character based on characteristics from black Southern women he has met in his life. Shirley Q. Liquor is a real character! She has a personality. He's not trying to say, "this is what black women are like." And if that's what you're implying, you're wrong.
thegraveyardduck 4 years ago
One more thing, you said " fags" there is no where in this tape that uses the N word, there is a huge difference.
