Satisfied needs never motivate. It is only the unsatisfied need that motivates. Next to physical survival, the greatest need of a human being is psychological survival - to be understood, to be affirmed, to be validated, to be appreciated. It is a paradox in a sense because in order to have influence, you have to be influenced. That means you have to really understand.
